IDW TMNT New Animated Adventures #6

One of the Kraang's bizzare creatures takes over the Shell Raiser! Let's see how the Turtles handle this one.

The Issue starts with April complaining about not being allowed to go out with the turtles. She hits Splinter with the "I went on missions with the turtles before" line. He counters with the "it always ends up with trouble" excuse. One blow, below the belt! Ouch! He gives the lesson of the issue, which is patience! Observation is the key to the current mission. No action, just creep watch over the Kraang to see what they're up to. And to only attack when the time is right. Lack of patience equals disaster. They "agree" and the very next panel they're breaking their promise. That was fast!

Donnie, the voice of reason, makes a comment about that's not what splinter meant by "watch and learn". Leo just tells him plans can change...Mikey impersonates Splinter, mocking Splinter's wise words and only stops when the others yell at him. The Kraang are easily defeated and the guys retrieve the secret device that the Kraang were working on. Mikey wonders what the device is....asking if it's a coffee maker. Donnie looks infatuated with the thing, also wondering what it was. Donnie takes the object and they leave the Kraang lair. While leaving, Mikey has the feeling someone is watching them, but decides it's just nothing. THEN a Kraang ship appears!

While driving back to the lair, the Kraang ship follows and we have a scene where two Kraangs have a discussion about the secret device that isn't secret anymore. Donnie is examining the item and not getting too far. While Raph and Mikey goof off, Raph pokes the cylinder and an alarm starts going, the color changes and a smell fills the air. It's uh...a tentacle monster! It has the turtles in it's clutches and it hacks into the Shellraiser taking control. The turtles eventually escape and Raph escape on a stealth bike. Raph attempts to rescue the other brothers, but was grabbed by tentacle man. The others check to see if their brother is okay.

The Shellraiser is tearing up the streets of New York. Eventually it turns around and chases the turtles. They attempt to find a weak spot, but that's also a failure. The Shellraiser is too tough. They regroup to discuss a plan. They talk about being protected by their shells and that makes Donnie realize something. The monster is in the Shellraiser because it's using the car as protection. So the plan is to get the thing out in the open. They're going to use the impatience of the monster to defeat him. They use Mikey as bait to lure the monster out of the Shellraiser. Which he does beautifully.

Mikey led the tentacle monster towards a wall, while the Kraang ship watches over the action. Mikey uses his wall climbing tools to escape the monster. Mikey taunts it, making the monster mad? Well, it eventually works and it climbs out and chases after Mikey.

The turtles fight the thing and eventually notice who's creeping on them. They all hitch a ride on the ship, but the monster follows and jumps towards the ship.  The turtles jump off. The ship is failing (since it is now attacking the Kraang) and it falls from the sky.

The guys return the lair. April asks what happened and Donnie explains. Eventually Donnie fangirls about the items he can install onto the Shellraiser. Mikey throws off stupid ideas, like a water balloon launcher. Leo mocks the lesson by saying "Patience, Donnie, wisdom comes with patience. Donnie loses his patience and chases after Mikey.

Paige's Opinion-

The Kraang return for this comic. They have a secret project that is not secret anymore because the turtles found the project. Now what is it? A tentacle monster? A Kraang on steroids? What is it? The cheesy part about these comics is the fact the lesson of the comic is always the answer to the turtle's problems. Where's Shredder? He only appeared for a few seconds in a previous issue. Bring him backThere is action to the story, first fighting the normal Kraang then the tentacle monster. A random adventure for the turtles. Another question I thought about is, how did they find out about the project by the Kraang. I really don't know what to say

The stories of these comic aren't too exciting. I still wish they would do a "to be continued issue". It will be more of an anxious reason to get a comic.

Mark's Opinion-

Decent story, but kinda simple and to the point. The odd part is we never got to see exactly what the monster was. It just seemed like a mess of random tentacles. It's odd how they mention this Kraang project and so forth seeing as it would never be on the actual show. Not too much to say. It had the moral about being patient and they were able to use it against the monster and make it actually turn against the Kraang. Again, a simple story, but it was cool to see the Turtles own vehicle turn against them and how they dealt with it.

SNK VS Capcom Chaos Volume 1

By Mark Rodriguez We'll be seeing a few crossovers this month, and we're gonna start with one based on a crossover videogame. If you think the Malibu SF comic series was kinda sloppy, this one was literally all action, pin ups and splash pages, and what little story in it is just plain weird. I'm talking about the SNK VS Capcom Chaos comics made by Happy Comics, translated by Japan and produced with supervision from both SNK Playmore and Capcom. But first a brief explanation on the game this was inspired from. In 2000, Capcom produced Capcom VS SNK Millenium Fight 2000 which would throw the fighters of Capcom and SNK at each other. Unfortunately, aside from Morrigan from Darkstalkers and Nakoruru from Samurai Shodown, the game felt more like Street Fighter VS King of Fighters. Capcom later made Capcom VS SNK 2 Mark of the Millenium with even more characters and variety as well as different modes of play. SNK made their own game, SNK VS Capcom Chaos and it offered a bit more...

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi...

Goshawk and Falconet # 1 (heavy spoilers so beware!)

By Mark Rodriguez Brought to you by the same studios that brought you Arachna # 1 and 2, we get a brand new superhero duo, Goshawk and Falconet. Let's check it out. The story opens with Goshawk and Falconet soaring through the sky just above Santa Monica Bay. They fly towards a ship that is being robbed. Goshawk tells her to secure the cargo while he keeps the guards busy.  The robbers are working for a villain named Black Parrot. Goshawk lands between two of them and bashes their heads together. Just then a third man pulls a gun on him from behind. Goshawk retracts his wings which knocks the gun out of the man's hand. Goshawk knocks the guy out while Falconet kicks the guy protecting the cargo. Falconet uses one of her claws to pick the padlock and finds a room full of captured women. She assures them that they're alright now. On the lower decks, Black Parrot and a woman named Secretarybird think their mission is a success. With the harbormaster being bought and paid for ...
