Avengers- X-Men- Eternals- AXE- Judgment Day # 1

 Mark Rodriguez

The leader of the Eternals plans to wipe out mutants since they have mastered immortality due to never-ending cloning technology on their living island of Krakoa. They have even captured Mr. Sinister as part of their plans. How will this go, especially when the Avengers also get involved?

The story open in a restaurant in New York as Tony Stark wants to find out from Sersi why they will be fighting each other soon. Sersi says their fight will most likely be against the mutants. Suddenly Phoenix swoops in and socks Sersi in the face, taking out into space. Captain Marvel and Thor confirm that they have captured her and will bring her in.

Meanwhile in The Treehouse, still in New York, Cyclops saw Phoenix flies by and comments that it's odd that she's an Avenger. Jean is distracted reading the minds of enraged people in a protest, angry that mutants can now cheat death but aren't sharing that technology with humans. Jean reads the mind of a woman crying asking how many times has Jean come back to life while her daughter is still dead. Cyclops says The Five can't bring everybody back.

In Krakoa, Destiny tells Nightcrawler and Mystique that a war is coming, and the Eternals will be the ones coming after them. They will gather the Quiet Council and The Great Ring and tell them about this. Nightcrawler teleports to Mars via The Gate to alert Magneto, Storm and Cable about this. Nightcrawler asks why the Eternals would have a problem with them. Cable tells them that the Powers At Be wouldn't give up their breaches without a fight, the mutants are the new gods now.

Sersi wakes up in Avengers Mountain, restrained in a chair in a Psychic Dead Room where she can't use telepathy to call for help. Sersi says she can manipulate matter and give him a stroke if she wanted to. Iron Man tells her that a month ago the Eternals snuck into Avengers Mountain for some reason and they had to stop them. It wasn't until they failed that they told the Avengers the truth. It turns out they knew that Thanos was on Earth leading the Eternals and Earth was minutes from being destroyed. Sersi tells Tony that only The Eternals could stop Thanos and they did. As they argue, someone else says the plan isn't working and they will come in.

Captain America steps up and tells Tony that Sersi was an Avenger and they should show her trust. He says the Eternals are going to war and she jokes that it will be more likely now since she's been kidnapped. Steve's face tells her that this isn't a joke and the Eternals really are going to war and she asks them what they know. Iron Man explains that since the Eternals hid Thanos fro them, he has been keeping tabs on them. The week before there was a huge spike in the Pacific Ocean that cut itself out instantly and there has been a series of pulses all over the world in the last 24 hours. Sersi tells them that the Eternals are a society, not just a team. This is a society that she and her friends have left. She tells them that she is not the Eternal they should be worrying about.

On Olympia, Druig makes a speech about how they have the uphold the third principle, to correct excess deviation. He explains that mutants aren't humans and the X-Gene came from deviants. They have escaped the Great Machine that is Earth and gone on to colonize Mars, and have now also escaped the chains of death. He asks for permission of the Uni-Mind to wipe out the mutants and they do so.

In the Exclusion, the Eternals' Prison, Druig plans to release Uranos The Undying for an hour, and he has been coded to return the instant the hour is up. Uranos says he will see what he is capable of doing in an hour.

In The Damocles Foundation's Corporate HQ in LA, Druig meets up with Moira Mactaggert discussing how he got Uranos to work for him. He is surprised that Moira would betray her friends. Moira explains she is with the Ochis now and they also want the mutants dealt with. Moira helped create Krakoa but she was cast out.

In the Quiet Council, Xavier tells the others that they expected problems with the Ochis, but not the Eternals. Exodus tells them that Mr. Sinister being missing is very suspicious. Suddenly Xavier and Jean are hit by a psychic attack. The Uni-Mind will attack the psychic mutants, leaving mutantkind distracted and leaderless. Moira says The Council isn't all of Krakoa and he will need more than to create confusion. Druig explains that his army will attack the rest of the island. The X-Men arrive to fight them off, thanks to Magik teleporting them at the scene.

Moira explains a handful of X-Men aren't the problem. There are about 200,00 mutants on Krakoa and over a million mutants on Mars, with gates to travel from there to Earth. Meanwhile over The Great Ring, Nightcrawler warps out of there and warns everyone to get out as something big is coming.

Druig explains that he finds all the strengths and weaknesses that Moira told him to be interesting and he sees that the mutants aren't immortal in the same way they are. The Eternals will continue to come back to life as long as the Earth exists. The mutants immortality comes from The Five, Hope Summers and her four friends. He will send their best assassin to take them out and with the Quiet Council trapped in a telepathic stupor, there will be no more Hope.

During the battle on Krakoa, Wolverine smells something and slashes his way through the soldiers as he finds that a young mutant named Egg is dead. This invisible assassin plans to kill Hope, who is now unconscious. Wolverine slashes at him with his claws, making him visible. Wolverine says he can't detect this person, but he smelled Egg's blood on his blades. The assassin, named Jack of Knives, throws several knives into Wolverine's chest that burst into flames upon impact. Jack of Knives warps away. Wolverine starts pulling the knives out of himself and tells Jean that they're after Hope and The Five.

At this point the Druig's soldiers leave the battle, taking to the skies. Moira tells Druig that they had their chance and blew it. Druig says his plans consist of more than just that afternoon.

At Arbor Magna, Egg is brought back to life thanks to the cloning technology. Wolverine tells Jean they need to tell Hank, Brand and Cable about this, these soldiers know how to hurt them. Nightcrawlers appears and tells them to bring back the others at The Quiet Ring. The X-Men teleport there and Hope holds onto Cable. Cable asks them what happened as Nightcrawler and Jean look down in sadness.

Uranos is on Mars counting down the last seconds before he's teleported back to his prison cell. We see that he has turned Mars into a desolate wasteland of death, littered with the bones of countless mutants, including Magneto. Uranos returns to his cell and tells Druig that the gates to Earth have been destroyed. Uranos can tell Druig's plan failed and says he's going to have to let him out again. Druig says he has his armory to deploy the hex, and he will use that first before needing to let him out again. Uranos says he should let him out to save him time.

Back at Avengrs Mountain, Sersi warns Tony and Steve that Druig is pathetic but he'll do anything to secure his power. Just then Iron Man detects that there was an attack on Krakoa. There are also energy spikes in the western US seaboard as well as a message. Captain America says everybody is hearing this message. Druig communicates to the people on Earth via their smartphones. He tells everyone that the mutants are a threat and he apologizes for letting them carry on for so long. He says they will protect them and serve them. He does warn them to not be afraid of the giant death machines that will be emerging from the western seaboard. He says they are the Hex, Eternals, and even though they're not human sized, they are their protectors. Druig advises anyone near the coastal area to move inland as soon as they can because things can get messy.

Captain America calls for the Avengers to assemble. Carol asks if they will keep Sersi locked up. Steve says that she mentioned she has left their society but hasn't said why. Just then Tony detects intruders using the same technology they used before. Ajak and Makkari have arrived with Mr. Sinister, who is still bound and gagged. They explain that is a holy war born from a holy scripture and only a god can rewrite the scripture to end the war. They need their help to create a god. Tony asks how they intend to create a god within a few hours. Ajak says to look around, as everything they need is at their disposal. This refers to the fact that the Avengers' base is currently within the body of a dead Celestial.

My thoughts-

Pretty entertaining story so far. Druig seems to be the typical mustache twirling cackling villain, but sometimes you need that sort of cheese. Him communicating to the people on Earth via their smartphones is like the modern day of the Joker or the Shredder taking over the TV to air their threats. It reminds me that not many people watch regular TV nowadays and would be too busy either streaming or gaming to even catch the message of 'I set several bombs all over Gotham City' and so forth. I guess using the smartphones was a good call. I mean, I hardly ever watch TV anymore myself.

It was kinda funny for Druig to pretty much tell humanity to ignore the giant sized death monsters and just carry on with their day. But hey, they were pretty much expected to do the same with giant sized Sentinels so the people in the Marvel Universe are used to giant things running around.

I am wondering how exactly Tony and the Avengers knew that there was a war coming when not even Sersi knew. The X-Men seem to know via Destiny, but the Avengers seem to be tackling this one on their own. It pretty much looked like Tony invited Sersi out on a dinner date where she got ambushed by Phoenix, Thor and Captain Marvel, without even knowing why. I do like the point that the Inhumans are an entire society and not some superhero team. Asking her about their actions as a whole is the equivalent of capturing Nightcrawler and asking him why Magneto attacked the city, back in the days when they were not on the same side.

Either way this is looking to get interesting, as the Avengers have not yet learned that all of this is about the Eternals wanting to take out mutantkind. We'll see how the Avengers and X-Men will most likely butt heads yet again. I also assume something like Uranos taking down mutants left and right including the likes of Magneto and Exodus is too big to happen off-panel and will be in one of the X-Men tie-ins.

We'll see how the story continues. In the meantime do mind the giant killer EVA things stomping around right outside your window. They are for your protection after all.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Batman/TMNT Adventures # 2

By Mark Rodriguez Batman was on the hunt for Two-Face who told him he went to another world. The Turtles discover Kraang portals and run into Clayface. As Batman discovers that Two-Face was telling the truth, the Joker and Harley find themselves in New York facing off against the Foot! This issue opens one week early as Harley is being brought into Arkham by security along a soapy floor. Harley 'slips' and takes advantage of this to take out the guards. She sets the Joker free and hands over his trademark outfit while she slips into her own. Joker complains that this break out was boring and lacks the flair he's used to. They both then see the shining Kraang portals. Joker gets and idea and drags the guards around to form a smile (with the portals being eyes) as they make their escape.  The Joker explains this to Shredder as he and Harley makes fun of his name. Shredder already lost his patience and he tells Bebop and Rocksteady to get rid of them. Joker offers to show the
