Superior Spider-Man (2023) # 2

By Mark Rodriguez Back when Doc Ock was the Superior Spider-Man, he accidentally created a super villain he named Supernova and imprisoned her. Now she escaped and is after Peter Parker, thinking he was the same guy that locked her up. During the ordeal, Doc Ock learned that Spider-Man was Peter Parker and that brought back all the memories of him being the Superior Spider-Man! What will happen next? "Suit Up" opens in Midtown Manhattan as Anna Maria is trying to get a taxi cab to the fight scene. The driver says he took her as close as he can go since it's reported that Spider-Man is fighting a 'fire lady' in the area. Ann Maria says she's one of Spider-Man's friends and she has information on the woman he's fighting. The cabbie says she's crazy and tells her to get out of his cab. Anna Maria decides to head there by foot and hopes that Spider-Man can hold out. Spider-Man changed back into Peter Parker, hoping Supernova would give up and go away

Batman (2024) # 147

By Mark Rodriguez Bruce Wayne was imprisoned by a robot he created named Failsafe that now has the downloaded personality of 'the better Batman' Zur-En-Arrh. As such Failsafe is now running around Gotham trying to convince everyone that he is Batman and is taking down criminals his way, as Damian joins him. Taking advantage of the sort of chaos that only Punchline could cause, Bruce escapes from Blackgate but finds himself completely alone and unable to contact anyone since Failsafe has access to every form of communication in the city. "Dark Prisons Part 3" opens with Failsafe scanning every electronic device in the city for all manner of crime. Damian, who was convinced that Failsafe is really Bruce, says they will fight it together as Batman and Robin, as father and son. Failsafe says crime is never-ending, but so is he. Elsewhere Vandal Savage is giving a speech concerning the crime in Gotham and the vigilantes that deem themselves above the law. He says now Bat

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Black White & Green # 1

By Mark Rodriguez So this is an interesting idea. This new series is a collection of short stories done by different artists and not necessarily taking place in the IDW continuity. Also these comics are black and white, but also green for an added twist and go along with the Ninja Turtle vibe. Let's take a look. "Green Screen" opens with Donatello trying to get into the federal database to locate every crime happening in the city. The rest of the group wants to go on patrol, but Donatello wants to stay behind and continue working. Splinter is worried that Donatello hasn't left the room for a while, but the Turtles decide to head out without him. Donatello feels he's more useful to his brothers staying behind and working on the computer.  Donatello suddenly loses contact with the Turtles as in unable to track them. Splinter arrives and tells him he will have to get his hands dirty and go search for them in person. Donatello agrees that right now his brothers need

Free Comic Book Day 2024- Marvel Blood Hunt # 1

By Mark Rodriguez Looks like the streets will run red with blood, and it's up to the Marvel Superheroes to team up to stop it. The next big Marvel event starts here!!! The issue opens with Spider-Man fighting an enemy named Doctor Dark while calling him Doctor Dork. The villain is frustrated and says this is why nobody likes Spider-Man. Spidey gets a civilian out of the way of his energy attacks and asks if he likes him. Spider-Man starts attacking the villain while asking if he's a real doctor. Suddenly Doctor Dark asks what Spider-Man is doing to him, when all he is doing is punching him.  Doctor dark suddenly throws up a strange black liquid. He screams and suddenly evaporates into dark energy. Spider-Man sarcastically considers this an 'unproblematic win'.  Meanwhile in Arizona, Reed Richards tells his wife Sue that there has been several dimensional breaches. The Negative Zone is always his first guess. Sue looks at the energy in front of them and says this is tie

Free Comic Book Day 2021- White Ash

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another interesting book we found at Free Comic Book Day. It looks like a cool adventure type book and also features the preview of another story called The Game. Let's check them out. The story opens with a woman named Kaitlyn Morrigan adjusting her lipstick (after several failed attempts) while remembering a horrific event that happened two months ago. She tells herself she survived, and once she beat that, there should be nothing left to be afraid of.  Elsewhere, two men named Rawlings and Thane watch over a girl practicing her archery on horseback and ponder about the last two months. Rawlings asks Thane is he's sure Lilian 'hasn't contacted the boy'. Thane responds that she is under heavy surveillance and hasn't left the grounds unattended. Rawlings says both men have known each other for almost eleven hundred years, so he shouldn't presume to know anything, but he wonders if this is too much for him. He mentions he also ha

Free Comic Book Day 2024- Dying Inside *trigger warning*

By Mark Rodriguez Be warned, this comic deals with dark realistic subject matter. While I'll try to 'dance around the subject' the most I can, you might want to skip with one if you're dealing with severe depression and have dark thoughts regarding self-deletion. If you are dealing with severe depression and have dark thoughts regarding self-deletion please seek professional help. This seemed like an interesting comic to pick up while I was checking the selection for this year's Free Comic Book Day. The comic does warn about themes involving 'taking yourself out' and purposely injuring yourself, so I will tread lightly as I do the comic summary. Let's check it out. The story opens with a young woman named Ash looking out the window as it's raining. She marks a date on the calendar which commemorates the day Elliot Smith 'took himself out' and she plans to do the same. She is about to explain to the reader what is so important about Elliot Sm

Free Comic Book Day- IDW Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2024

By Mark Rodriguez After hitting comic stores in 2011, the long-running IDW TMNT series has coming to an end at issue 150. Or at least what we would call 'Volume 1', since a whole new number 1 will be coming out soon which will potentially serve as a soft reboot to the series. That makes this year's Free Comic Book Day issue exciting since we have the question of wether or not takes place after the 150th issue. Not only that but it brings in the Nightwatcher persona from the 2007 TMNT movie, except this time it might not be Raph under the mask. Let's check it out. I got this one from Third Eye Comics, but now that I think about it, there should be previous Free Comic Book Day books that will say Bent Wookee and Comics World on the covers. The issue opens with several mutants, a bear, a horse and a bird, walking through the night, as narration explains that a year ago a mutagen bomb went off, mutating a portion of the population. The mutants sneak into a vault where one
