Forgotten phone app games- Rhythm of Fighters

By Mark Rodriguez Phone app games have a fickle life, even moreso that games on XBox Live and the Playstation Network. Several games have come and gone, such as SNK All Star and Captor Clash, and soon KOF All Star will also be de-listed at the end of October 2024. One such games that caught my was Rhythm of Fighters. Sadly it only lasted a little over a year, hitting the play shops June of 2014 and getting de-listed on July of 2015. Here's a quick look at it and a stroll down memory lane on a game that mixes KOF with the Dance-Dance concept. In Rhythm of Fighters, you select different SNK characters and pit them against other with different courses, divided by several tracks based on the memorable games. At first you can select from Kyo Kusanagi, Athena Asemiya and Ryo Sakazaki, but as you continue to play and clear the stages, you unlock more courses and tracks. Some of the opponents you run into are Terry Bogard, Iori Yagami and Nakoruru. Unfortunately you're gonna have to b...

The King of Fighters All Star (phone app game review)

By Mark Rodriguez I've always been a fan of the King of Fighters series since KOF 94 and one game I play almost every day is KOF All Star. Produced with Netmarble in association with SNK, the game hit smartphones in Japan on July 2018 but didn't go worldwide until October 2019. Let's take a quick look at it.  Most of the game modes play like a beat-em-up. You can choose any KOF character you have at your disposal for  a team of three and a striker character for each. The characters can attack, block and roll to dodge. In some modes you get a special guest striker that can only be used once and usually deals the most damage. Everyone gets 3 special attacks and a desperation move attack. If you can find the Special Battle Card of the character's super desperation move, you can equip them with it so they can use it in the fight. Most of the time you fight on your own but on certain stages or modes you can use your team of 3 at the same time. You would control the leader w...

My September 2020 Shirt Haul

By Mark Rodriguez If it's one thing that's come from quarantine and working from home due to the current pandemic, is having extra cash lying around. Money that would have been spent on transportation to and from work, as well as grabbing spare snacks here and there or grabbing a quick bite at some restaurant near work is now spare revenue. While a bit goes into savings, I've been spending a bit on shirts and Door Dash. So while I have stopped ordering 3-4 shirts in a single outing from ProWrestlingTees, I do still get a couple from the ProWrestlingCrate, Geek Fuel Box and elsewhere. So I decided to show off what shirts I've been getting every month, and hopefully the number goes down month by month, lol. Let's start with September.  Sept 3rd- Wyld Stallyns shirt (Geek Fuel Box) I got this awesome shirt from the Geek Fuel Box, which recently shifted . This month's theme was centered around the 80's so I got other cool things like a Ninja Turtles action figur...

Throwback Thursdays- My top 10 favorite arcade games

By Mark Rodriguez As a kid once place I loved was the arcade. Videogames were still new, fresh and exciting for me at the time and I loved Ms. Pac-Man and Dig Dug. It wasn't until arcade games got a bit more advanced than one screen puzzle mazes and the beat-em-up and fighting game genre came out that really got me going as often as I can. Here is, in my personal experience, the top 10 favorite arcade games from my childhood. Some of these are still worth dumping a few quarters into. At least one of them, I believe, has still never been released on a home console. Other than personal preference the list be be based on mostly how often I played these games or the overall significant importance it had to Johnny and me growing up. 10- Arch Rivals- Midway Entertainment- 1989 Basketball with no rules, where if someone is in your way, just punch them out of the way! The game was simple and fun, just 2 on 2 basketball where you and your computer controlled buddy take on a second ...
