Agents of SHIELD episode 13 RETRO REVIEW

By Mark Rodriguez Originally written on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Keep in mind these reviews were done way back when the show first aired, so we had no idea what future events or movies would bring. Also, before it was retconned away, at least at the moment, the Agents of SHIELD show was in canon with the movies. Centipede is delivering a dangerous package aboard a train. SHIELD is on the case. We have an epic suspenseful ending. Another Marvel character gets hinted. Oh, and we get Stan Lee. This episode also has something happen in which the agents are divided, and we backtrack to show what happened from each agent's point of view. Let's get started. The episode opens on the jet with the crew discussing that Quinn is having a package delivered to him on a train by Cybertek, and they have to stop it. The train is also crawling with enemy agents, soldiers and ex-mercenaries. Later on, on the train, the agents split up. Skye and Fitz pretend to be a couple, as do Grant and May....

Agents of SHIELD episode 12 RETRO REVIEW

By Mark Rodriguez Originally written on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. Keep in mind these reviews were done way back when the show first aired, so we had no idea what future events or movies would bring. Also, before it was retconned away, at least at the moment, the Agents of SHIELD show was in canon with the movies. Last episode was a huge reveal for Coulson on how he was brought back to life.... and it's a lot for him to deal with. Now this episode reveals the past behind Skye. Oh, and we get a random low-key Marvel super villain thrown in there too. The episode starts off with some college kids sneaking a dip in the pool after hours. There's a reclusive kid there studying some note, just watching the scene. The guy and girl get in the pool and as they try to encourage their friend to join them, she notices that the water starts freezing by itself. The couple manage to get out of the pool almost in time, as the guy's leg is trapped in the frozen pool. The recluse jumps in t...

Agents of SHIELD Episode 11 RETRO REVIEW

By Mark Rodriguez Originally written on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. Keep in mind these reviews were done way back when the show first aired, so we had no idea what future events or movies would bring. Also, before it was retconned away, at least at the moment, the Agents of SHIELD show was in canon with the movies. OMG.... all I can say is... DAT ENDING... Anyways, before the break, we last left our team watching helplessly as Reina and her soldiers kidnap Coulson, and when Mike Peterson tries to run in to save them, the cars in the area explode. Everyone thought Centipede was after Peterson's ability to keep his Extremis powers stable... but instead they are after the secret of how Coulson was brought back to life. The episode starts out with a secret meeting with a guy selling off a Chitauri missile to other bad people. Just then a SHIELD emblem slides out from other door and hits the room with a flashing light. Melinda and Grant bust in and start kicking ass, but the main deal...

Agents of SHIELD Episode 10 RETRO REVIEW

By Mark Rodriguez Originally written on December 10, 2013. Keep in mind these reviews were done way back when the show first aired, so we had no idea what future events or movies would bring. Also, before it was retconned away, at least at the moment, the Agents of SHIELD show was in canon with the movies. This is an intense episode that not only brought back Mike Peterson from the first episode... but also Reyna and Centipede.. and anything related to that general story line. It was clever that they reran the episode with Reyna and Amador the week before since it keeps people who missed it up to date. This is also the first episode that starts with a 'previously on Agents of SHIELD' showing clips of the episodes with Mike Peterson and Reyna. Let's get this started! The episode officially opens in the Havenworth Federal Penitentiary with the mystery man in prison that Reyna was talking to in an earlier episode. Just then three soldiers bust in through the roof, and t...

Agents of SHIELD Episode 9 RETRO REVIEW

By Mark Rodriguez Originally written on November 26, 2013. Keep in mind these reviews were done way back when the show first aired, so we had no idea what future events or movies would bring. Also, before it was retconned away, at least at the moment, the Agents of SHIELD show was in canon with the movies. We have another interesting episode with a bit of creepy dark horror movie-ish scenes, some good action, and yes, some insight on Melinda May's backstory. Why is she cold? Why is she called the Calvary and hates that nickname? Let's check it out. This episode opens with a seemingly regular blonde woman stepping into a grocery store somewhere in Utah. The store owner recognizes her as the supervisor for a lab and gets angry since one of his friends died during an accident she caused. The woman backs away and tries to leave but the manager continued to harass her. Just then, cans and things start flying at the man, hitting him. He asks if she's doing this and then a whole ...

Agents of SHIELD Episode 8 RETRO REVIEW

Written by Mark Rodriguez Originally written on November 20, 2013 Keep in mind these reviews were done way back when the show first aired, so we had no idea what future events or movies would bring. Also, before it was retconned away, at least at the moment, the Agents of SHIELD show was in canon with the movies. The episode opens up, which I would assume is a few days after the events of Thor's epic cinematic sequel. If you guys remember that University in Greenwhich that was kinda caught in the crossfire in the epic final battle between Thor and Malekith... yeah, it's up to Coulson's group to clean up the mess. Everyone is talking about Thor, in one way or another, and Skye wishes she could have gotten hands onto the Asgardian spaceship... and Thor. Meanwhile some park rangers run into some graffiti and decide to investigate. A pair of campers are wandering around the woods until they find a particular tree. They cut it down, which brings the attention of the park ...
