Yaira # 1 review *Heavy Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez One of the Rippaverse characters that people wanted to find out about was Yaira. She'd had a previous run in with Alpha Core. She grabbed Avery and dropped him onto a car as she was attacking a police station. She's also been seen working for Projexus in her civilian clothes, which is the same company that Avery's sister Altona works for. Who is Yaira and what is she up to? Let's find out.    The story opens with Yaira having dropped Avery Silman onto a car from a high distance in front of an amazed crowd (as seen in Isom # 1). She warns Avery not to follow her and she flies off.  Alpha Core is on the scene, and Bryan tells Braxwell to watch over Avery while he chases after Yaira with Ingrid. Bryan tells Ingrid that he will 'catch up to her', which confuses her. Bryan then tosses Ingrid towards Yaira (Ingrid can't fly) and she gets the hint. Ingrid lashes out her energy ropes, tying them around Yaira's neck. Bryan flies in and grabs Ya...

AlphaCore# 1 *heavy spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez The Rippaverse continues to thrive with multiple million dollar campaigns. Their third book AlphaCore ended its campaign at 1.3 million. We first saw them trying to handle Yaira in Isom # 1, and they had a short scene examining those events in Isom # 2. Now that they have their own book, let's see what else we can find out about them.  The issue opens with a masked man holding a woman at gunpoint in front of Texas Trust. He threatens everyone to back off or he'll blow everybody up since he has explosives strapped around himself. The area is surrounded by an armed police force. The one in charge tells the man to drop the gun and that nobody needs to die today. The man says everyone will die today and he's ready to go. Just then he is lifted off the ground, which surprises the female hostage. Bryan Solari is holding onto the gunman, who open fires on him. The bullets bounce off him, though Bryan complains they still hurt and his cape isn't free. Bryan a...

Isom # 1- First book of the Rippaverse (contains heavy spoilers)

By Mark Rodriguez So here's a book I've been waiting for, for a while. Unlike most of the independent comics I have reviewed in the past that used indiegogo or Kickstarter, Eric July opted to open his own business and self-publish his first superhero comic in hopes it would become its own universe. The pre-order campaign ended at 3.7 million and sold way more orders for books, shirts, posters and caps than anyone could have prepared for. They are currently shipping and on their way. Due to this, read this review at your own discretion since I'm sure many customers have still not received their copy. Also since this is a 96 page epic, I won't be doing the usual play-by-play since that will take forever. I'll give a synopsis and my thoughts.  Isom deals with Avery Silman, who gained powers and became the titular hero for a while. He discovered this sort of life wasn't for him so Avery retired and became a rancher. His sister calls him up one day and tells him abo...
