As the city is hit with a heat wave and this killer is raising tension among the citizens, Batman has to work with Catwoman. They both follow him to a zoo and are now trapped in one of the exhibits with a panther! Catwoman tells Batman not to move, even though the killer is getting away. The panther growls and Catwoman keeps it at bay with her whip, telling Batman to leave as fast as he can. Batman continues the pursuit of Catman, feeling confident that Catwoman can handle herself.  Sometime later, Batman has been unable to find him but there hasn't been any signs of any screams or sirens. Catwoman catches up to him, showing some scratches on her side. Batman mentions the wounds and Catwoman says after riding around in the trunk of the Batmobile she's better off healing them on her own this time. She is still bitter about how he doesn't trust her and asks...

Catwoman tracks down Catman at a women's dorm at a college and fights with him to give the girls time to escape. Batman arrives too late and while the girls are safe and Catman is gone, Catwoman is severely injured. Batman sees no choice but to patch her up at the Batcave. What will happen next? Heat part 3 opens with Batman continuing to patch up Catwoman. It's been five days since she's been in the Batcave and there have been three more murders. Batman tells her that during the last murder, the killer struck on the West Side while he was patrolling the East Side. They agree that the city is too big for one person to cover so they became partners. Batman says the whole time she's been there, she's never removed her mask. After getting into a fight with this Catman, Catwoman offers a partnership with the Dark Knight. Catwoman stands before Batman as he carries Sharlene, the TV weathergirl he had just rescued and tells him Catman is more than he can handle alone. Since Batman rescued Sharlene, Catman managed to get away. Catwoman tells him that he will need a partner. Batman takes Sharlene back inside her penthouse and asks Catwoman why he shouldn't just take her down now. Catwoman says she's not a murderer and she thinks her feelings towards crime might have changed. She leaves her offer on the table and tells him if Catman continues using these tactics, it will take two people to stop him.  By Mark Rodriguez I had this one lying around for a while, but then I bought Prey, Family and Blades and decided to review them in numerical order. There was also the fact that I thought that this was a 3 part story, but it turned out to be a 4-parter, so I had to track it down. Now that I got all 4 parts, let's see what happens in this story.  The story opens with Gotham enduring a heat wave as the news reports that it's up to 93 degrees. Meanwhile, a man starts putting on his costume, complete with sharp blades attached to his gloves. He tells himself that he won't fear the darkness for he is the darkness, he will not fear evil, for he is the evil. The news says to expect it to be 103 or even 105 degrees the next day. As the masked man slips out his window and climbs down the fire escape, he hears his neighbors complaining about the heat and not being able to afford an air conditioner. A new thief appears in the city and Batman discovers that it's the Cavalier himself, though he has his reasons. With Batman out of action after crashing in his Bat Gyro, what will happen now? The Cavalier and Ellen watch the news as the reporter talks about him being revealed to be the jewel thief. Ellen tells him that he shouldn't have ruined his life over her, but he says what's done is done.  Ellen reveals she had killed her husband sometime before they met. He was always abusive and during one of his beatings, she ran to grab a knife. Her husband, not thinking she'd ever fight back, charged towards her, accidentally impaling himself onto the knife. This is where Salt came in and witnessed the event. He helped Ellen dispose of the body and corroborated her story with the police. However she wasn't counting on him ...

Meanwhile, a new hero named The Cavalier has shown up in Gotham and the citizens like him over Batman. As Batman saves a woman from a burning building, on the other side of town, The Cavalier saves a woman from jumping off a roof. What will happen next as now he's fallen in love for her? The story opens with a news report of daring jewel thefts upon the wealthy in the city. In the Bat Cave, Bruce is still obsessing over the fact that Mr. Lime continues to kill and has left no clues for him to work with. Alfred tells him the Bat Signal is on and that he should see what Captain Gordon wants. Batman goes to see Gordon who informs him of the rash of jewel robberies. Since the rich are affecting City Hall, the heat is coming on Gordon to solve this. Batman says he can't be distracted from stopping Mr. Lime and if they need a hero they can ask The Cavalier.  By Mark Rodriguez So some time back, I found all three parts of this story at one of the SteelCity Cons. The covers drew me in, so I picked it up, and now after a year or so of not even opening the packaging, let's check out this classic Batman tale. The story opens with Batman investigating a crime scene. The smell of bacon and eggs lingered throughout the home where an elderly couple was shot dead by a sniper in the middle of breakfast. Batman knows there's a murderer out there calling himself Mr. Lime that is killing old people. It seems Mr. Lime is targeting people over 63 regardless of gender or if they're rich or poor using several methods like leaving bombs or killing them up close and personal. Batman is determined to find and capture him. Meanwhile someone is getting dressed in their own suit and is getting their sword ready. He plans to make a debut tonight on the streets of Gotham.
