Super Mario Bros. # 4

By Mark Rodriguez Sometime before the release of Super Mario Bros 3 and the cartoon related to it, Valiant Comics released 2 comics (Super Mario Bros and Adventures of Super Mario Bros) based on the plumber heroes. The comic is slightly different from the cartoons that were airing at the time. The most noticeable differences being that we see Princess Toadstool's father in the comic, Wart from Super Mario Bros 2 occasionally makes appearances and the Koopalings are referred to by their in-game names rather than the name changes they received in the Mario 3 cartoon. Nowadays these comics are very hard to find without paying insane prices, but I was lucky enough to get this one for only 15 bucks at the Steelcity Con a few years back. Let's take a look.  "Beauty and the Beach" starts with Mario, The Princess and Toad on a small boat in the middle of the ocean. The Princess asks Mario if 'three hour tours' usually take two days. Mario says to ask Toad since he

Masters of the Universe- Rise of the Snake Men # 3

By Mark Rodriguez Evil Lyn betrayed Skeletor to help Kobra Khan and Rattlor release the Snake Men. The Snake Men easily take down Skeletor's forces. He-Man finds out that Zodac let this happen on purpose so he could get a chance to avenge his brother's death at the hands of King Hsss. As He-Man and Zodac fight each other, they see that an army of Snake Men is marching out of Snake Mountain! He-Man and Zodac see the army march onwards. He-Men tells Zodac that he can't take them all on his own and has nothing to prove in trying to. He offers their help and promises to leave King Hsss to Zodac. Zodac says they have little time and the Snake Men can be very resilient.  Man-At-Arms, Teela, Stratos and Mek-A-Nek see the army and estimate that there are thousands of them and will be in Eternos in a few days. Zodac arrives and says they're actually headed towards Castle Grayskull and King Hsss can affect their speed and stamina. Man-At-Arms and Teela are understandably angry s

Masters of the Universe- Rise of the Snake Men # 2

By Mark Rodriguez Despite He-Man and Zodac sealing away the Snake Men, Evil Lyn has betrayed Skeletor to help Kobra Khan and Rattlor bring them back. They go to attack Zodac and steal his staff. The Masters go to warn Skeletor but are attacked by his forces. As they fight, Kobra Khan and Rattlor sneak into Snake Mountain and break the seal to The Void with Zodac's staff, releasing King Hsss and his minions.  Man-At-Arms tells Skeletor that they had come looking for his help. He explains that somehow The Void will be broken and the Snake Men will return. Skeletor doesn't believe them and Evil Lyn comes in, telling them that breaking the seal for The Void is impossible. Skeletor tells Evil Lyn that she took her time to get there. She says she was busy. Skeletor tells her she should make better use of her time. He then directs his attention back to the Masters, telling them that he will finish them off.  Just then He-Man runs in, breaking through Skeletor's forces. Skeletor i
