The Trial of Jean Grey Part 6- (Guardians of the Galaxy # 13)

By Mark Rodriguez Time to wrap up this story before the Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters... and also to see exactly how Jean Grey gets herself out of this situation. For those missing out, the Shi'Ar empire has kidnapped the younger Classic Teen Jean from the 60's or so and have put her on trial for crimes she committed as the Phoenix... which technically speaking since she's a girl out of time, she hasn't committed these crimes yet. The X-Men team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy and The Starjammers, and now is the part where we get to the fighting! But then Jean arrives and tells them that they're right in their accusations. The story opens with Jean telling The Gladiator that she now knows about what will eventually be possessed by the Phoenix and commit these crimes, and they won't be able to stop it and she won't be able to control it. She says if they kill her, the Phoenix is a force of nature and it will find another host. Gl...

The Trial of Jean Grey part 5- (All-New X-Men # 24)

By Mark Rodriguez The Shi'Ar find out that there is a younger version of Jean Grey still alive, and captured her so she could stand trial for all the deaths she caused when she was possessed by the Dark Phoenix back in the day.... even though this is a younger teenage Jean that hasn't done any of that yet. The Guardians of the Galaxy team up with the X-Men, as well as the Starjammers, as Jean is about to stand trial. What will happen??? The issue begins with Jean being asked how she pleads after showing her footage of Phoenix wiping out a star system. Jean is speechless, and just as Gladiator is about to take her silence as guilt, King J-Son, Star Lord's father, bursts into the room and says she is innocent and doesn't even know about the crimes they speak of. Gladiator says he has no say in this Tribunal. The King of Spartax says he was invited, just like everyone else and that the Phoenix' genocide affected more than just the Shi'Ar. He state...

The Trial of Jean Grey part 4- (Guardians of the Galaxy # 12)

By Mark Rodriguez To show modern day Cyclops the error of his ways, Beast brought back the original 6 X-Men that started it all from the past into modern day. After all was said and done, these time displaced teenage heroes chose to stay. After the Battle of the Atom storyline, we found out that even if they wanted to, they couldn't return to the past, having stayed so long in the present that they have become time paradoxes. Now the Shi'Ar are after Jean to put her on trial for her crimes as the Dark Phoenix from way back then, even though technically speaking this Jean Grey came from a time era before any of that ever happened. The Shi'Ar could care less and want her dealt with, and now the Guardians of the Galaxy have become involved, and are here to help the X-Men get Jean back. On top of that, Corsair from the Starjammers just contacted the Guardians' ship and Classic Cyclops is about to find out who he is.... Let's see what happens. This iss...

The Trial of Jean Grey part 3- (All-New X-Men # 23)

By Mark Rodriguez At first I thought it was weird since the bottom said 'part 3 of 5' and I'm like... whoa, what the hell happened to part 2? It kinds like they wanted to consider both the X-Men comic and the Guardians of the Galaxy comic part 1, since they both happened at the same time, but from their perspective. Well anyway, I checked their checklist thing on the last and this is indeed part 3. The Shi'Ar decided that the Classic Jean Grey, who was brought to modern day by Beast alongside her 5 teammates, should pay for the crimes committed by her future self as Phoenix. Even though this younger Jean has not committed these crimes yet, the Shi'Ar still send soldiers after her. The Guardians of the Galaxy show up to help but after the fact. The comic starts with Scott having a dream of Jean saying she found his 'I love you note' and asked why he never told her sooner. He then snaps back into reality and finds himself on a spaceship with his ...

The Trial of Jean Grey # 1 (actually part 2) (Guardians of the Galaxy # 11)

By Mark Rodriguez So it was at this time when the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie was going to be released, and like many people out there, I've never really heard of them. Other than Rocket Raccoon appearing in Marvel VS Capcom 3, I didn't know much about these guys. So now we have a crossover between the Guardians and the X-Men since the Shi'Ar Empire wants to take Classic Jean to trial over the crimes her modern day self would eventually cause as Phoenix. For some reason they decided to have this story's 'Part 1' be a 'Part 1' for both the X-Men and Guardians comics. Let's take a look as this story unfolds at the same time as the events of All-New X-Men # 22. The comic explains that the Guardians of the Galaxy recently saved Earth from Thanos, and that Peter Quill's father has sent people to kill his son. There's also a warrior woman named Angela that recently joined the team due to one of those darn pesky time-space continuu...

The Trial of Jean Grey # 1- (All-New X-Men # 22)

By Mark Rodriguez It's time for another crossover as the Shi'Ar empire wants to try Classic Jean Grey for the crimes of her modern day self, which somehow gets the Guardians of the Galaxy involved. Their first movie was just about to come about, and I didn't want to go into this blindly, so I decided to pick this up. This story actually has two 'part ones' since the events of this issue will unfold at the same time as Guardians of the Galaxy # 11 until the teams meet up. Let's check it out. The story opens at The New Xavier School, as Kitty Pryde watches over X23's training in the Danger Room, Classic Beast is working on his equations in the lab and Classic Iceman is making snow angels in the backyard. In the cafeteria, Classic Angel is about to enjoy his burger, when the Classic Cyclops and Jean join him. Before Angel can even savour his burger, Jean yells at Cyclops to 'go ahead!!!' to which he asks to 'go ahead with what?'. ...
