My March 2021 Shirt Haul

By Mark Rodriguez Alright, so this month I really overdid it with the shirts. I think after this month I gotta put my foot down and not spend anymore, not counting of course, the shirts that already come with the subscription boxes. This time at least we have a higher variety than wrestling shirts. Geek Fuel Box- Godzilla shirt- March 14, 2021 So this time the box had a bit of a dinosaur theme with items related to Jurassic Park and Godzilla. We got the Godzilla VS King Kong movie coming up so I'll probably be wearing that when I watch it with my buddies. This shirt is pretty cool, it's unique since it's exclusive to the Geek Fuel Box, but also says Gojira on the back. Awesome. Priscilla Kelly PK shirt- March 15, 2021 Some time ago I bought PK's black shirt with white letters and I vowed to some day return to Spinebustermerch.com and purchase the white variant. I like how the rose in this variant is a blue-ish color, since it does bring a bit of color to the shirt. Cou...

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends...

Will Dragonball Fighter Z face the same fate as Marvel VS Capcom Infinite?

By Mark Rodriguez The tables have turned in the fight game tournament scene, and no one knows who to blame. We all remember the flak that Marvel VS Capcom Infinite received due to not having any X-Men characters, but the final nail in the coffin was that Capcom chose not to feature it at Evo, one of the biggest fighting game tournaments of modern day. While Dragonball Fighter Z was the biggest game at 2018's Evo, it seems the game won't be at next year's event. Lately for reasons unknown, the hot fighting game produced by Arc Systems, the guys behind Guilty Gear and Blazblu, has been taken off of fighting tournament line ups. The whole problem lies in not knowimg who is behind this. Is it Arc Systems pulling a ban on this? Is it Bandai Namco causing the problem? The Dragonball brand belongs to Toei Animation, Shueisha and Shonen Jump. Did any of them have anything to do with this? Funimation dubs the voices of Goku and the gang, are they pulling this embargo?  In...

Throwback Thursdays- Dragonball Z in Mexico, my interview from DBZ Uncensored

By Mark Rodriguez This is an old interview I had with a website called DBZ Uncensored, which dealt with the censorship differences between the original DBZ and the American dub. It might sound like a distant memory now but back in the infancy of Funimation, Dragonball Z's violent nature and adult humor was heavily censored down for American kids. Not to mention the fact that they skipped the entire first part of the series (Dragonball) and expected kids to be able to randomly jump into the later adventures of Goku and his friends. Of course nowadays anime like Fullmetal Alchemist, Death Note, One Punch Man and My Hero Academia are dubbed as close to the original dialogue as possible and nothing is censored. In fact nowadays Dragonball Super airs Saturday nights on Toonami with a pretty good dub. However, Mexico took a different, and in my opinion, better route. Instead of worrying about making an anime cool and hip for the kids, they used the shocking technique of airing t...

Throwback Thursdays- Our Cosplay Collection (so far)

By Mark Rodriguez Johnny and I love anime cons, and we try our best to cosplay. Now we can't sew and can't afford super extravagant super detailed costumes and/or weapons, but I mean, we make do with what we have. While we don't exactly have a huge collection of Cosplay outfits, it's fun to look back and remember the cons of yesteryear, especially since this year Johnny finally got himself a different outfit. - 1 Cosplay Ever- Krillin and Android 17 from DBZ- Krillin is Goku's lifelong friend and possibly the strongest of the normal humans in the series. He would eventually marry Android 18. Android 17 was meant to be an evil Android set to kill Goku and wipe humanity but he was absorbed by Cell. He would mellow out since then. Oh wow, those were the days. I used to shave my head to Cosplay as Krillin. Well, the OG DBZ outfit of mine (which no longer exists) was basically an orange shirt we cut up to match the show and we had to buy orange fabric and cu...
