AEW Dark Elevation Episode 69/NWA Powerrr Season 9 Episode 3 (Women's Matches)

 By Mark Rodriguez

This time we only have 2 matches on Dark Elevation and a cool tag match for NWA Powerrr. The funny part is NWA will feature two familiar faces, Missa Kate and Max the Impaler. Miss Kate had a busy week since she had matches both on Dark Elevation and NWA. Let's check it out.

Match 1 Dark Elevation- Heather Reckless vs Anna Jay

Both women grapple until Anna Jay is whipped towards the turnbuckle. Heather runs at her but hits the turnbuckle herself due to her opponent getting out of the way. Anna Jay hits her in the face and then gets back into the ring, rolling Heather along the mat with an armdrag. She then grabs her and slams her with a Flatliner.

Heather manages to stomp on Anna Jay's foot, and then dropkicking her in the face when she's down. She then gets Ann Jay in the corner and starts kicking her. Heather grabs Anna Jay and flings her towards the ropes, but Anna Jay grabs her and slams her on her back. Heather tries to get up but Anna Jay keeps knocking her down with tackles and running elbows. Heather tries to swing at her, but Ann Jay ducks under it, bounces off the ropes and knocks her down with a running knee to the face.

Anna Jay gets Heather up against the ropes and hits her with a running backwards kick. She then rolls along the mat and kicks her on the side of the face. Anna Jay grabs her, knees her in the back and then pulls her down to get her in the Queen Slayer submission. Heather taps out which makes Anna Jay the winner.

Match 2- Dark Elevation- Missa Kate vs Ruby Soho

Both women lock up with Ruby being pushed up against the ropes. Kate gives her a hard chop. Ruby doesn't take kindly to that so she tackles her and starts throwing hands on her. Ruby then knees her in the face and then slams her face into the turnbuckle. Ruby runs at Kate, but she is grabbed and now she's the one getting her face bounced against the top turnbuckle. Kate takes this chance to throw some kicks at Ruby until the ref breaks it up.

Ruby starts throwing some chops at her but Kate kicks her and throws her hard against the ring post. Kate runs at her but Ruby gets out of the way, leaving her to bump against the ringpost. Kate takes a swing but Ruby ducks and socks her back. Kate tries again, getting punched again. Ruby then kicks her in the midsection and knees her in the face. She then knocks her down with the enzuigiri to the face. Ruby bounces Kate against the ropes and as she comes back, she slams her down with a back heel trip.

Ruby goes for the ropes, intending to do a diving stomp, but Kate gets out of the way. Ruby lands and rolls safely but Kate hits her with a superkick, knocking her down. Kate goes for the pin and Ruby kicks out though she is still dazed. Kate goes for a spinkick to the face but Ruby blocks it. Ruby knees her in the face and then grabs her and slams her with Destination Unknown. Ruby Soho pins her and gets the win.

Match 3- NWA Powerrr- Jennacide & Missa Kate VS Chelsea Green & Max the Impaler

The match starts with Chelsea Green facing off against Missa Kate. Both women grapple and Chelsea throws Kate onto her back. Kate gets to grab Chelsea into two armdrags in a row and then a pump kick to the face that knocks her to the ropes. Kate goes for the pin but Chelsea kicks out, so she tags in Jennacide. Jennacide picks up Kate and drops her onto Chelsea. Jennacide picks up Chelsea, holding her upside and does some squats, still holding onto her opponent. She walks around and finally slams Chelsea down.

Jennacide takes Chelsea to her corner and hits her with some brutal chops and then tags in Kate. Kate tries to pick her up for a slam but Chelsea gets out of it and rakes her across the eyes. As the ref is distracted, Kate goes to the wrong corner and Max knocks her down with a headbutt. Chelsea goes for the cover but Kate kicks out. Max tried to tag herself but the ref keeps her out and Kate grabs Chelsea for a roll up pin that she narrowly escapes. Chelsea knocks her down and goes for the pin but Kate also kicks out.

Chelsea grabs Kate and tags Max in. As Chelsea rolls Kate up against the ropes, Max surprisingly grabs Chelsea by the hair. Max throws her own tag team partner towards Kate as a cannonball. Max grabs Kate's arms and hits her with the stomp, bouncing her face against the mat.

Kate tries to call away as Max glares at Chelsea, but The Impaler grabs her leg. Kate gets up on her other leg and hits her with the enzuigiri. Chelsea tags herself in but Kate socks her back and has enough time to tag in Jennacide. Chelsea throws a punch but Jennacide unload a series of strikes and chops and flings her hard against the turnbuckle. Jennacide then runs into with an elbow and then kicks her to the mat. Jennacide picks up Chelsea in a fireman's carry, spins her around and drops her with a stunner. Jennacide pins Chelsea but Max runs in to stop. Max then grabs Chelsea's limp body and drags all the way back to her corner so she can tag herself in properly.

Now we have the largest women in the match, Max and Jenna facing each other. Both try to run each other over but neither budges. They try to lariat each other with the same result. Then they both start trading shots. Jenna grabs onto Max and hits her with knee strikes, finally getting the advantage.

Jennacide tries to whip Max towards the ropes but she ends up being sent there instead. Max runs at her and Jenna keeps her back with a boot to the face. Jenna tags Kate in and runs towards Max. Max didn't see the tag and knocks down Jennacide. Kate goes for the top turnbuckle but Max socks her in the face before she could do anything. Max grabs her from the top turnbuckle and slams her back down to the mat. With Missa Kate still being rocked, Max The Impaler picks her up and slams her down with The Wasteland, gets the pin and win the match.

My Thoughts-

When I saw some familiar faces in the NWA women's roster, I knew sooner or later we'd see the same people on both this and AEW on the same week. So we got a double dose of Missa Kate with her crazy pajama pants this time. Missa Kate put up a decent fight against Ruby Soho in Dark Elevation and got pretty much thrown around by Max The Impaler on NWA. The Ruby match was alright and the Ann Jay match was shorter than expected. She seems to take her opponents quickly, we didn't get too much offense out of Heather Reckless.

My favorite match was the NWA match and the total disregard Max had towards her tag team partner. Just seeing her grab Chelsea without warning and just use her a bowling ball against Missa Kate was hilarious. Max basically took down the opponent AND her partner and she just didn't care. I know Max has been around for a while in the indies but these are my first few matches seeing her in action. Since she's not on Dark, I can finally see her Welcome to the Wasteland finisher and it's a brutal looking slam. I do hope she gets to build her cred in AEW and start winning some matches.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Batman/TMNT Adventures # 2

By Mark Rodriguez Batman was on the hunt for Two-Face who told him he went to another world. The Turtles discover Kraang portals and run into Clayface. As Batman discovers that Two-Face was telling the truth, the Joker and Harley find themselves in New York facing off against the Foot! This issue opens one week early as Harley is being brought into Arkham by security along a soapy floor. Harley 'slips' and takes advantage of this to take out the guards. She sets the Joker free and hands over his trademark outfit while she slips into her own. Joker complains that this break out was boring and lacks the flair he's used to. They both then see the shining Kraang portals. Joker gets and idea and drags the guards around to form a smile (with the portals being eyes) as they make their escape.  The Joker explains this to Shredder as he and Harley makes fun of his name. Shredder already lost his patience and he tells Bebop and Rocksteady to get rid of them. Joker offers to show the
