AEW Dark Episode 150 (Women's Matches)

This time we got 3 cool matches as we see Willow Nightingale in action as well as the newcomer Athena. Let's check out the action. We also see the new Dark Julia in action after her recent joining of the House of Black.

Match 1- Willow Nightingale vs Ashley D'Amboise

The match opens as the women start to grapple. Willow flips Ashley over with an armdrag. After dancing along to the crowd cheering for her, Willow locks up with Ashley again, both fighting for control. Willow flips her to the mat and gets her in an armlock. Ashley gets back to her feet but Willow is still holding onto her arm and staying in control. Ashley pushes Willow to the ropes but stops herself from running after her. Willow also stops herself from bouncing off the ropes and kicks her in the face anyway, following with a hard chop to the chest.

Willow runs into Ashley, who is up against the turnbuckle and hits her with a back elbow. She then rolls her along the mat. As Ashley gets up, Willow runs and kicks her back down. Willow rolls over Ashley and then does a senton pin, but her opponent kicks out. 

Willow picks up Ashley in a fireman's carry but she fights her way out of it. She grabs onto Willow's arm, brings her leg up to her face and slams Willow down to the ground. Ashley goes for the pin but Willow kicks out. Now being angry, Ashley swings at Willow, who grabs her arm and slams her backwards onto the mat with a lariat. Ashley runs at her again and gets taken down with another lariat. As she tries to attack for the third time, Willow grabs her and slams her with a spinebuster. Willow goes for the pin but Ashley kicks out. 

With Ashley up against the ropes, Willow runs at her and stomps on her. As she runs at her again, Ashley gets out of the way but Willow is able to stop herself before she can collide with the ringpost. Ashley grabs her and bounces her face against the ropes. Ashley takes this chance to flip over the ropes and grabs her into a neckbreaker. She goes for the pin but Willow still kicks out. Willow hits Ashley with the enzuigiri and while she's dazed, tackles her down with The Pounce. With Ashley up against the ropes, Willow runs into her with a Cannonball, and then picks her and slams her down with the DoctorBomb. Willow pins her and gets the win.


Match 2- Athena vs Amber Nova


Both women lock up and Amber gets a hold of Athena's arm. Athena cartwheels so her opponent can loosen her grip and then armdrags her to the mat. Amber gets to her feet and slams Athena on her back. Athena flips back to her feet. Amber leaps off the ropes towards Athena, but she is caught. Athena swings her around and slams her with a backbreaker and then slams her into the mat with a back heel trip.

Athena yells for Amber to get up and goes over to grab her. Amber pushes her up against the ropes and hits her with several diving headbutts to the midsection. Amber grabs Athena in two Northern Lights Suplexes in a row, but she escaped before she get a third. 


Amber climbs on Athena's back and gets her in a sleeper hold. Athena drops herself to the side, making sure Amber got the brunt of the impact, so she could escape. Both women are down for the count. As they slowly get back up, Amber runs towards Athena and is grabbed for an attempted DDT. With Amber trying to get out of her grasp, Athena instead gets her in a delayed vertical suplex, showing her around the ring before slamming her facefirst onto the mat. 

Athena goes over to Amber and kicks her in the face. She then runs against the ropes and comes back with a low flatliner. Athena grabs Amber and rolls her to met, wrapping a leg around her neck. With this strong submission hold locked, Amber taps out. Athena is the winner and continues to focus her sights on Jade Cargill and her title. 


Match 3- Julia Hart vs Valentina Rossi


The match starts with Valentina taunting Julia's general dark demeanor until she raises her hand at her and Julia grabs her wrist. Julia gets her into a side headlock, taking her down for a hammerlock until she lets go. Valentina gets Julia in an armdrag and then grabs her arm. Julia grabs her hair and flips her to the mat. 

Julia starts kicking Valentina around until she's up against the ropes where she let loose with chops and kicks. She then slams her with a suplex and rolls on top of her to throw punches. Julia gets her in a mounted double underhook hold and Valentina scrambles to get her legs on the ropes to escape. Julia angrily punches her down. As Valentina gets up, Julia grabs her but her opponent reverses it into an Inside Cradle pin. Julia kicks out and grabs her, kicking her in the back and slamming her with a backheel trip. With Valentina down, Julia hits her with the standing moonsault. Julia gets off her and sits in the ring, choosing not to go for the pin.


Julia picks her up and socks her in the face before whipping her towards the ropes. The newest member of the House of Black does a cartwheel and elbows her in the chest. Julia runs to the other turnbuckle and comes back with a running elbow making Valentina drop to the mat. Julia grabs her in a submission move and makes her tap, winning the match.

My Thoughts-

Some fun matches tonight. Willow Nightingale is always fun to see in action and the crowd loves her. Ashley made her work for it though so we got to see a lot of both women could do. Athena was great in her match, though it was surprising to her end this with a submission rather than her diving cutter off the top turnbuckle. It's still a cool move to add to her arsenal.

The highlight for many was seeing this new fully-turned evil version of Julia Hart in solo action. The former cheerleader for the Varsity Blondes is now as vicious and sadistic as you'd expect, even letting a pin attempt go just to prolong the pain and suffer upon poor Valentina Rossi. 


One thing worth mentioning, which is why I like Dark and Dark Elevation, is how we get some stories here and there. They're not just 'dark matches' in the throwaway sense. We've seen the uneasy friction between Mercedes Martinez and Serena Deeb for a while now on both Youtube shows, but now they finally get to bring their beef over on AEW Rampage on TNT. With Ring of Honor Death Before Dishonor being announced later this month, we just might see Serena Deeb challenge Mercedes Martinez for the RoH Women's World Title soon. That's gonna be something awesome to look forward to because both women are going to go to war for that title.

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Batman/TMNT Adventures # 2

 By Mark Rodriguez Batman was on the hunt for Two-Face who told him he went to another world. The Turtles discover Kraang portals and run into Clayface. As Batman discovers that Two-Face was telling the truth, the Joker and Harley find themselves in New York facing off against the Foot! This issue opens one week early as Harley is being brought into Arkham by security along a soapy floor. Harley 'slips' and takes advantage of this to take out the guards. She sets the Joker free and hands over his trademark outfit while she slips into her own. Joker complains that this break out was boring and lacks the flair he's used to. They both then see the shining Kraang portals. Joker gets and idea and drags the guards around to form a smile (with the portals being eyes) as they make their escape.  The Joker explains this to Shredder as he and Harley makes fun of his name.
