Justice League # 3 (2018)

By Mark Rodriguez

The Totality has arrived on Earth and it holds the secret to either save the multiverse or destroy it. The Justice League and the Legion of Doom both want this knowledge. The only ones that can get past its protected barrier are Superman and Martian Manhunter wearing special suits. Hawk Woman has been miniaturized and injected into Manhunter, and Batman has been similarly injected into Superman.... but Lex Luthor is also hiding inside. Elsewhere, Siniestro discovered the Ultraviolet Corps and brainwashed Jon Stewart into going after the League to kill them.

The story opens in the past with a younger Siniestro who is an anthropologist at this time. He finds something and tries to translate it, when a green light of a crashing airship falls in the distance.

Now, the possessed John Stewart stands before Wonder Woman, the Flash and Aquaman. Wondie tries to talk him down, but he says he has seen inside himself and there is no hope for anyone. Wondie tries to use the Lasso or Truth on him, but his constructs hit her. Flash tries to use to speed to attack the constructs, even with his Speed Force being affected, and gets hit by them. Aquaman goes after John, and the Lantern tells him that they will die because flesh is weak. The Ultraviolet Lantern reveals a giant monster created from the League's own shame and hatred.

Cyborg appears and destroys the light monster. John says there is still enough man inside him to feel his darkest self, but Cyborg just blasts him down. John is finally unconscious and Diana wonders what happened to him. Cyborg says it seems he lost his way.

Inside the Totality, Superman and Martian Manhunter fight against horribly mutated versions of vultures and lizards. Their suits are damaged and they hurry before they get affected too. Batman and Hawkwoman are inside Superman and Manhunter and are blasting away at the cells that are trying to mutate them. Hawkwoman notices that some of them are ignoring the brain and are going for her directly. She has no choice but to use a white dwarf pulse that will kill them but also some of Manhunter's brain cells. Lex is in his own ship and he carefully follows the Batwing.

Back to the Hall of Justice, John finally wakes up and his friends ask him about his power. He explains it was the invisible spectrum, which takes control of you. He says back on an earlier mission with Manhunter against Anti-Life, he figured the martian's fear of fire would get in the way so he left him behind and rushed forward. This caused the death and destruction of the planet Xanshi.

Determined to bring back Xanshi, John searched until he found a book about the invisible spectrum and Siniestro's mission to make sure it never was released. The spectrum's heart is a living phantom galaxy powered by a sentient black sun called Umbrax. Umbrax goes to planets that are the most self destructive and take it over. The destruction of the Source Wall brought it's attention to Earth. If Siniestro is feeding it planets it would eventually become too powerful to fight and turn everyone into an Ultraviolet Lantern. Umbrax is also tied to six other forces of the universe, which also include the Still Force.

Flash tries to triangulate their next location and Aquaman comments that section of the ocean is toxic to all life. It would erode all metal, it's a nowhere zone. Wonder Woman says then they should go nowhere.

Superman and Martian Manhunter notice the realm around them changing. Batman and Hawk Woman noticed the mutagen cells are also slowing down but they are still something to be wary of. The heroes have made it past the protective ring and have entered the inner sanctum.

why is Manhunter smiling in this page?
Superman and Manhunter see a giant hill with giants trapped inside them, similar to what they've seen in the Source Wall. The Martian is eager to talk to them and see what he can find out. Lex is eager for this knowledge as well. Manhunter sees images of war from the giant, and the giant starts to wake up and notice them. Superman says it's another line of defense.

Underwater, the heroes find the based of the Legion of Doom. Flash comments he might be safer staying with Wonder Woman in the Invisible Jet, but she remarks they are still visible, only the jet isn't. Once inside they recognize the interior to be designed in the Amazon style and the technology to be Atlantean. Flash finds a White Martian in a tube, but looking more primitive than any others he has seen. Suddenly the White Martians break out and start to attack.

Martian Manhunter and Superman dodge the attacks from the giants. Lex reveals he has snuck into Superman's body since the earlier fight they had with Killer Croc. Lex orders someone to attach to Hawkwoman's pod and enter. Hawk Woman's communications went down.... and the Joker is right behind her.

Cyborg and Green Lantern are on what's left of the moon and see that their original Watchtower is still intact. They plan to use the technology to track Umbrax. Siniestro arrives and John yells at him over releasing Umbrax if he was supposed to be sealing him up. Sinisetro says he was going to but the living sun was already set free due to the release of the Still Force. Sinestro's ring connects to John and shows him the world that drew Umbrax in was theirs as the ultraviolet sun is directly behind the planet, invisible for the common eye to see. The Invisible Spectrum is already here and the Earth has joined its ranks.

My Opinions

Wow. Just wow. Living galaxies. Living evil suns. And of course, the whole thing with the Totality as well. It's a LOT stuff happening all at once. Is Umbrax related to whatever lies inside the Toyality? What about the other six universal forces?

I don't have much to say except I'm curious to see where this all goes. I do have to say though... out of all the people in the Legion of Doom, Lex trusted the Joker to stick to the plan and not just go crazy all over Martian Manhunter's organs. Like how do you betray Cheetah, Grodd and Black Manta and put your trust in the Joker?

I do wonder why Martian Manhunter was smiling on that one page (drawing error?) but maybe it was a small hint that Joker was lurking inside? We'll see where all this leads next issue.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
