Someone is giving the Arkham villains a drug called Toxin that makes them super muscular and insane. As Batman tries to find out who's been behind this he runs into several of the villains and a mysterious White Rabbit that keeps telling him to chase him. After Deathstroke destroys the Batplane, Batman's search leads him to the Scarecrow.
In “Handful of Dust”, Scarecrow sprays the room with fear toxin that starts to affect Batman. He tells him that heroism is a mask Bats wears to hide from fear, and that Batman’s true fear lies in other people dying while he’s busy saving someone else, hence, he can’t be everywhere at once.
The gas makes him see everything from the death of his parents to some of the villains, which I guess implies deep down Batman does really fear his rogues. And oddly enough, Damian is also seen among his fears.
Scarecrow beats him down as he’s suffering the effects of the gas. He then injects him with the deadly toxin and leaves as he notices that someone is coming. That someone turns out to be Superman, who showed up after Batman asked the Justice League for help.
Batman wakes up, now insane and overcome with the toxin and starts yelling out his distrust for the other superheroes and picks a fight with Superman. He is somehow strong enough to actually make Superman bleed.
Superman finally retaliates, and Batman goes down. Hard. Which leaves the issue ending with us wondering if maybe Superman hit him a little… TOO hard…
And... that was basically the issue. Tons of huge splash panels and whatnot made this comic be a super fast read.
My Opinions
Art is one of the major factors of a comic, along with a god story and good character, and there are people that do buy certain comics just for the art. Heck the new Catwoman 2018 # 1 made me put it back on the rack due to the art. Well... this comic, especially this particular issue is all about the art since it's such a quick read. Between Batman facing his fears and fighting Superman, the comic ended faster than the time it takes to put it in its protective plastic.
There's not much to say except I'm surprised Catwoman and Damian are listed as his fears. It makes me wonder if Batman really does fear his foes. Joker aside, I always felt the others were more of a thorn on his side.
Superman shows up and I honestly wonder how Scarecrow managed to get away before the Man of Steel could catch him. The story continues next time, but I do have to say.... after such a short read you really are stuck asking the question "3 bucks for this?"

Why is Catwoman there? Why would Batman be afraid of her? I mean, what can she do? Leave him at the altar? |

I guess Batman wasn't kidding when he said he will make Superman bleed. |
