Marvel's Civil War II # 2

 By Mark Rodriguez

The Inhumans have discovered a young man with the power to have visions of the future. Tony Stark wonders about the ramifications of the heroes knowing about their future and acting upon it. When the Ultimates use Ulysses's visions to predict where Thanos will appear on Earth, they set out to stop him and the battle killed Rhodey. With the news of his death causing a devastating blow, Tony Stark sets out to find the kid. A severely injured She-Hulk tells Captain Marvel to stop him.

The issue opens with Iron Man trying to sneak into the Inhuman's home and kidnap Ulysses while he sleeps. Medusa finds him and strangles him with her hair until he passes out. Tony manages to send electricity through the hair back at Medusa sending her flying into a wall. The rest of the Inhumans arrive and Karnak is the first to attack.

Iron Man avoids his attacks, saying he knows about his ability to detect weaknesses in his opponents. He defeats him stating he doesn't have any. Crystal shoots lightning at him and blows him up. Beast points out that it was a decoy and the real Tony escaped with Ulysses. Human Torch asks if they should follow him. Crystal says it's too late, but as of now Iron Man has just declared war upon the Inhumans.

In the Triskelion, Mary Hill and Captain Marvel discuss these events. They would send SHIELD agents over at Stark Tower, but Tony wouldn't be there, and the Inhumans would be there already. Black Panther says that Iron Man has forced Medusa's hand, and the Inhumans aren't there to find Stark, they're there to stop Karnak from bringing the building down.

Sure enough they are at Stark Tower and a hologram tells them to leave before the authorities are called. Karnak threatens her and Johnny Storm tells him it's just a hologram and he's talking to nothing. Karnak is still determined to take the building down when Captain Marvel and the Ultimates arrive to stop them. Marvel says they will take care of things and stop Tony and return Ulysses to them. Medusa says one of theirs was taken, and the only thing they did was help and share their power with them. Captain Marvel says they all lost people today and asks for one chance to let them handle this.

Ulysses wakes up strapped to a chair with Tony in front of him. Tony is angry that the mission he sent him on cost him the life of James Rhodes. Ulysses is confused and says he never sent anyone anywhere. Tony has the kid's mind wired to his machines and says he wants to know how his visions work. The kid says he can't just make them and he can't control when he gets them.

Tony flicks him the forehead to see how his brain responds. Friday, Tony's A.I tells him of the result but needs more info. Before Tony can punch him, Friday detects that fear also works. Tony tells him that he wants to know how his powers work and will look anything related to his family and upbringing. He wants to know if the visions are true or if they affected by any kind of personal bias. Ulysses says all of this isn't fair and he could have just asked for these tests without all the kidnapping. Tony says he lost a friend to a mission he shouldn't have heard about and that isn't fair. One of the Iron Man drones detects intruders and Tony wonders how he was found.

Tony sees all the heroes heading his way and remembers that Beast is with the Inhumans which is how they knew where to look. Female Thor's hammer smashes through the wall as everyone arrives. As they argue about what Tony did and how he treated Ulysses and the consequences of all that, the kid starts to have another vision.

This time the vision of is of the Hulk copletely losing it and killing everyone. Everyone saw the vision too and even felt it. Later on, just outside Alpine Utah.... Captain Marvel pays Bruce Banner a visit....

My opinions-

Wow.... this sure took a very drastic turn. Here we have some sort of violent rampage from the Hulk that results in the deaths of everybody that tried to stop him.... and yet now in the present, Dr. Banner hasn't really done anything yet nor does he have any idea of what he is about to do. It seems Captain Marvel skips all that and just went right to him.

There's not much to say about the issue. It kinda looks like Tony has some beef with Karnak. Also geez, the extremes he goes to so he can get info from the kid. I mean, a flick to the forehead sure, but it looked like he was just about to punch him had Friday not told him that fear also worked for his studies. I'm not really sure Tony was just doing that as a fear tactic.... pretty sure he really was going to punch a college kid in the face.

Tony brings an interesting point on whether or not the visions are true or he alters them through some sort of bias. Though I see no reason why Ulysses would single out Rhodey to die... and this new Hulk vision shows nobody being spared in his rampage. I mean, he doesn't even know War Machine and the Hulk personally.

I can't wait to see what happens next issue. This is getting really intense!

SNK VS Capcom Chaos Volume 1

By Mark Rodriguez We'll be seeing a few crossovers this month, and we're gonna start with one based on a crossover videogame. If you think the Malibu SF comic series was kinda sloppy, this one was literally all action, pin ups and splash pages, and what little story in it is just plain weird. I'm talking about the SNK VS Capcom Chaos comics made by Happy Comics, translated by Japan and produced with supervision from both SNK Playmore and Capcom. But first a brief explanation on the game this was inspired from. In 2000, Capcom produced Capcom VS SNK Millenium Fight 2000 which would throw the fighters of Capcom and SNK at each other. Unfortunately, aside from Morrigan from Darkstalkers and Nakoruru from Samurai Shodown, the game felt more like Street Fighter VS King of Fighters. Capcom later made Capcom VS SNK 2 Mark of the Millenium with even more characters and variety as well as different modes of play. SNK made their own game, SNK VS Capcom Chaos and it offered a bit more...

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi...

Goshawk and Falconet # 1 (heavy spoilers so beware!)

By Mark Rodriguez Brought to you by the same studios that brought you Arachna # 1 and 2, we get a brand new superhero duo, Goshawk and Falconet. Let's check it out. The story opens with Goshawk and Falconet soaring through the sky just above Santa Monica Bay. They fly towards a ship that is being robbed. Goshawk tells her to secure the cargo while he keeps the guards busy.  The robbers are working for a villain named Black Parrot. Goshawk lands between two of them and bashes their heads together. Just then a third man pulls a gun on him from behind. Goshawk retracts his wings which knocks the gun out of the man's hand. Goshawk knocks the guy out while Falconet kicks the guy protecting the cargo. Falconet uses one of her claws to pick the padlock and finds a room full of captured women. She assures them that they're alright now. On the lower decks, Black Parrot and a woman named Secretarybird think their mission is a success. With the harbormaster being bought and paid for ...
