Avengers VS X-Men # 10 (Round Ten)

 By Mark Rodriguez

The Phoenix heads to Earth and the Avengers want to destroy it while the X-Men want to use it. Iron Man used a giant mech to blast it out of the sky, but it instead split into five and gave Cyclops, Emma, Colossus, Magik and Namor its powers. The Avengers took Namor down and his powers made the other four stronger. Spider-Man was doing his best to stop Colossus and Magik and they ended up taking each other out. Now Cyclops finally found Hope and has arrived in front of the Avengers, now being three times as powerful.

Round 10 opens in the Mystical City of K'un Lun as Iron Fist grabs Hope and jumps out of the way of one of Cyclops' optic blasts. Tony detects the Phoenix energy nearby and worried since Hope isn't ready yet. Cyclops asks why he even bothers to resist after all they have already accomplished.

Iron Fist tells Hope to run as he tries to hold Cyclops back. Cyclops says the Avengers are nothing to him anymore and uses his powers to levitate and incapacitate him. Hope runs across a bridge as Cyclops slowly walks towards her. Iron Man comes in and knocks Cyclops off his feet.

In Russia, the Verkhovansk Mountains, Wolverine holds onto the badly injured Spider-Man as Captain America tells Professor Xavier to come back with them so he can be safe. Xavier looks over the unconscious Colossus and Magik and says he can't run away. He won't turn his back on the X-Men. He says Cyclops and Emma have been corrupted by the Dark Phoenix and wants to make sure they don't take all mutantkind down with them.

In the floating island of Utopia, Emma has all the mutants kneel to her. She notes that Cannoball in particular thinks she is cruel. She advises him to change his thoughts about her. Magneto tells Emma that this isn't the way to treat their own kind and they have the power to change the world for mutantkind. Emma reminds him that SHE has the power and that he has forgotten his place. Emma holds Magento in place, reminding him that has been an absent father, traitor and murderer, killing many under his watch over Genosha. She walks off and says he is no position to judge anyone. Magneto drops to his knees as she finally let him go.

Back to K'un Lun, Iron Man has been taken down and Cyclops says the entire city can't stop him. Tony says he's wrong and Cyclops says he is now a god and mystical kung fu doesn't scare him. He warns Tony to not get into his way again.

Hope steps into a cave where The Thunderer resides. He tells her it's time for her final lesson.

Cyclops walks through the city calling out for Hope and saying he's not going to hurt her. Thor, Hawkeye and The Thing show up to stop him, but Cyclops takes all three of them down with a massive Phoenix powered optic blast. Just then, a green flame hits Cyclops. Cyclops is surprised this actually hurt him.

Hope and Lei Kung are riding the powerful dragon Shao Lao. This being is undying and the source of the Iron Fist energy and has been said to have defeated the Phoenix before. However the dragon is still young and blasts it, knocking Hope and Lei Kung off it. Cyclops approaches the dragon saying it will never hurt him again, and Lei Kung kicks him off it.

Lei Kung asks Cyclops where his honor is if he's willing to kill a wounded animal and hurt a little girl. Cyclops asks Hope if she's really siding with them over her own kind. Hope says she wouldn't side with monsters that destroy innocent lives. Cyclops says he's trying to save his species and as he approaches her, Hope blasts her with green flames coming out of her mouth. She runs off being surprised that she absorbed the dragon's powers. Cyclops is now officially angry.

Hope runs into Scarlet Witch, Beast and Iron Man telling them what happened. Cyclops arrives and Wanda tells everybody to get behind her as she unleashes her magic with all she has. Cyclops says it won't work since he is more powerful this time. Hope tells Cyclops to stop this as she is full of mystic dragon power. Cyclops suddenly stops glowing with the Phoenix Force and falls to the ground. Hope charges up her energy and hits Cyclops with The Chaso Fist, telling him to go away.

Cyclops disappears and Hope is confused. She asks the others where he went. Cyclops appears in space and lands on the moon. It takes an hour for him to recover. He can't stop thinking of the fact that Hope hurt him and he needs more power. He needs Emma. Uatu the Watcher watches as Cyclops flies back towards Earth.

Captain America, Wolverine, Spider-Man and the rest arrive through a portal and asked what happened. Iron Man tells them that they have reached the turning point because Hope was able to defeat Cyclops, and he thinks he knows why.

Meanwhile Magneto walks towards the edge of Utopia and removes his helmet. He hopes that Xavier can hear his thoughts because Scott and Emma are losing control.

My thoughts-

I have to say, these issues sure read fast. However, the main thing we learn is that now Hope has the mystic powers of Shao Lao that can help her step up to Phoenix Cyclops and that Xavier has joined the heroes. At this point the Avengers and most of the X-Men that were turned off by how far Cyclops was taking things have teamed up.

Emma is pretty much indulging herself with her dark side. In the last issue she killed an innocent man that killed a mutant by accident. Now she has people like Magma, Sunspot and Cannonball kneel before her and pretty much worship her... OR ELSE.

Cyclops is completely off the rails now, and due to Hope now being able to fight back, he needs Emma's powers so he can have all of the Phoenix Power to himself. We'll see how that goes.

I'll be catching up to the next part to see what happens next. There's not much to say except the art and lighting effects are pretty cool. Lighter colors in the city of K'un Lun and darker colors on the nightly Russian skies, and the cool blur effect when Hope warps Cyclops away. The only thing that stands out is that super random Uatu cameo. What was he doing hanging out by the moon?

Other than that, the book goes by fast. At 4 bucks a pop, I'd like to spend more than 5 minutes reading it. A lot of the fights happen off panel, in this case, Cyclops VS Iron Man or are in the tie-ins, but hey, save some of that stuff here too.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
