Uncharted Comic Series #2

By Mark Rodriguez (Originally written by Paige)

The Uncharted games inspired a cool six-issue mini-series that continued the adventures of Nathan Drake and Sully. The last issue ended with Nathan having a gun aimed at his head, by none other than Chloe Frazer. What will happen now?

Nathan and Sully are at the auction hall, observing the area. They believe this will be a "steal", pun intended. The door besides the two open, revealing the man hosting the show, Mykola Rusnak. Sully wonders if the girl Nate ran into the night before, clued Mykola about what's happening. Nathan remembers the night before. Nate figures from Chloe not shooting him, that she's after the same thing he is, the Amber Seal. He asks if she is working for someone, but she doesn't give a straight answer. Chloe asks for his weapons, but he tricks her and throws sand in her face, distracting her to get away.

Back to the auction, Sully teases Nate about his "lady skills". In comes the Ludlows and they approach another man. Sully follows the two, while Nate goes off on his own. The Ludlows ask about the Amber Seal and the man confirms the seal will be on sale the following day. Nathan sneaks around an empty room, but ends up getting caught by Mykola. The man was about to kick Nathan out, but is stopped by Chloe. She explains that her "assistant" got lost and goes up to Nathan "cleaning off the goatee" he was using as his disguise. Mykola is frustrated that Chloe's employer never explained about an assistant, but he leaves. Nate gets mad at her for lying about her employer, but again she avoids the question. That's when Sully interrupts the two, he tells his friend that they need to go.

Sully explains that the seal is going out earlier than expected and that the auction is rigged. The two decide to steal the treasure even earlier. As Nate goes through their plan, he runs into some knocked out guards. He already knows who did this. Nate grabs Chloe, but she flips it around and eventually escapes his grasp.

He follows her to where the Amber Seal is held. She tells him that it's hers, but Nate asks to check if the item is authentic. He uses the paper he stole from the journal and looks on the back, which confirms that it is the real thing. She grabs the Amber Seal and it sets off an alarm. They're chased by some guards and the building is going into lock down. This won't stop Chloe, she has blows up a new escape route for the two and they escape. Suddenly, Chloe throws the seal to Nate, telling him that it's too hot for her to keep. They split off and Nate calls to Sully, but no response. He's stopped by a car that stops in front of him. Michael Ludlow steps out, asking Nate to come to dinner with him. He refuses, but the Ludlows shows him a motivation to go to dinner. The motivation is a tied up Sully.

After a "pleasant" dinner, Michael explains that Nate must decipher the code or else...a guard presses a gun to Sully's head. Nate explains that since they have the journal, that they should decipher it. Rose comes into the conversation, explaining that they know he has the decipher page. He distracts the girl by asking her about the legends of Byrd's travels. Michael is annoyed with the conversation the other two are having, thinking Nate is playing her. She realizes that he's doing the same thing his ancestor did to Thomas Doughty. Thomas Doughty was a friend and traveling companion of Sir Francis Drake. Michael explains that Francis Drake accused Doughty of treason and had his friend executed. Nate asks how that relates to the Amber Room. Michael explains that him and his sister are actually the descendants of Thomas Doughty. The reason that they are looking for the Amber Room because they believe that the discovery can restore the name of Doughty. To protect Sully, he deciphers the code and hands it to the siblings.

They get ready to leave, explaining about Francis and Thomas' last dinner together, before the execution; and that this is similar to that. One of the guards tie Nate to the chair. Nate asks if this is how they're going to execute him. They tell him that they're not the ones that will kill him. Rose informs the two that Mykola is coming and their fate is up to him. Michael and Rose leave, and Nate frees himself from the bindings and frees his friend. Sully asks if he sent the Doughtys on a wild goose chase, and he says yes.

The two attempt at an escape, but are confronted by the mob. We'll see what happens next. Like I said before, my big review will be at the end of issue 6, so stayed tuned.

Mark's Opinion-

Loving the story and the art so far. With Nathan and Sully not knowing Chloe at this point, we can assume this takes place sometime between Uncharted 1 and 2. I'm not 100% on the game's lore so I'm not sure if this contradicts anything from the games. It looks like the main villains for this story got their intro. Let's see what happens next.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
