Dragonball Super manga Volume 1 (Chapter 6)

By Mark Rodriguez

Goku and Vegeta were training with Whis on Beerus' world until Champa and Vados show up. Beerus and Champa compare the foods from their universes. Upon finding out that the Earth from Champa's universe is gone, he decides to hold a 5 on 5 tournament with the best fighters of each universe. If Champa wins, the Earth will go to his universe.

Chapter 6- Tournament Preparation

Some time ago, Beerus and Champa were fighting it out in space, destroying planets as they did. Champa is angry that Beerus ate the last Puff Puff Berry off his birthday cake, and Beerus said it was his birthday cake too. They decide they don't care about the universe anymore and both are about to destroy it, when Whis and Vados knock them both out. They tell them that from now on they should settle their disputes with food.

Whis tells Vegeta that's why they have food showdowns now. Beerus asks about the tournament and how they'd even be able to switch universes. Champa tells him about the wish granting orbs, and Goku recognizes them as Dragonballs. Champa says if he is referring to the Namekian Dragonballs, their wishes are limited. The Namekians took fragments of the real Dragonballs to create theirs. The real Dragonballs are the size of a planet and can grant ANY wish. Beerus notes that Champa only has 6 of them, so they would be useless. Goku says Bulma will be able to find the last one, so they accept this challenge. Goku is very excited about the whole thing.

The Tournament will have rules similar to the Martial Arts Tournaments of the Dragonball series. You lose by giving up or being thrown out of the ring. No killing, weapons or drugs are allowed. Vegeta also suggested they pass a basic written exam to exclude any mindless monsters. Goku decides to enlist Mr. Buu and Piccolo. Vegeta asks about Gohan, but he is too deep into studying nowadays to compete. Beerus says he has another member in mind as well. He says Goku was the second strongest person he ever fought, so he will bring in the strongest.

Bulma prepares a new Super Dragon Radar but since they're at one edge of the universe, they will have to travel to the middle of the universe for a better signal. Bulma calls her sister who sends Jaco the Intergalactic Patrol Man over to them with his new spaceship. Once the situation is explained, Jaco offers to takes Bulma to see Lord Zuno who knows everything about the universe. Vegeta tells Jaco not to try anything funny on Bulma. As they leave, Goku comments on how they have strong wives and that's the part he loves about Chichi. Vegeta says it makes sense since all Saiyan wives were strong. Piccolo finally understands why Goku and Vegeta ended up with Chichi and Bulma.

Champa and Vados start creating the arena where the tournament will take place. Vados asks if he has decided who his 5 fighters will be. Champa noticed that Goku and Vegeta were Saiyans, so they will need to get some Saiyans too.

The bonus page shows Goku remembering that Beerus told him that he was the second strongest man he's ever met.

My thoughts-

This is a pretty informative chapter that sets up a lot of information that will be important for this arc and others to come. This is the first time we heard mention of the Super Dragonballs, literal planet sized Dragonballs scattered over more than one universe. It's explained the Namekians created their Dragonballs from these much larger orbs, and after doing some research I found out the Super Dragonballs themselves were created by its own eternal dragon, Zalama. I guess it kinda fits that with the Super Dragonballs being the new thing, the anime series would be called Dragonball Super. I guess we're lucky the Black Star Dragonballs from GT weren't called the GT Dragonballs for some reason or another.

Another thing to note is that this chapter introduces Jaco The Galactic Patrolman, who we also saw in the Resurrection F movie and anime series adaptation. He's the one that comes to Earth to warn everyone that Freeza was on his way, and Bulma already knows him. On top of that, in this chapter Bulma contacts him through her sister. Bulma has a sister???

Apparently there was a manga series Toriyama worked on during his Dragonball hiatus called Jaco the Galactic Patrolman. The manga starts out with Jaco running into Tights, who we eventually find out is the daughter of Dr. Briefs and the older sister of Bulma. Also it seems in that series Jaco was also trying to prevent an alien from invading Earth, but he missed him when he landed. It turns out that the alien just so happened to be Kakarrot who would be found by Son Gohan and would be raised as Son Goku.

It's a bit of an odd retcon, but yeah, Tights in Bulma's sister and she will make the occasional appearances here and there throughout the manga and the anime.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
