Dragonball Super manga Volume 1 (Chapter 3)

By Mark Rodriguez

Lord Beerus has seen a premonition of the Super Saiyan God and wishes to fight him. He finds Goku training with Kaioh Sama. After transforming into Super Saiyan 3, Goku is easily taken down by Lord Beerus. Now the God of Destruction sets his sights on Earth and the other Saiyans living there.

Chapter 3- The Rage of Beerus

Kaioh Sama asks if Goku is alright and he says he is but is worried because Bulma is having her birthday party on Earth. Speaking of which, Beerus has already started attacking Gohan and Majin Buu at said birthday party. This places this scene right smack in the middle of the story, complete with an editor's note stating that if you want the full details of Bulma's party, watch The Battle of Gods movie.

Beerus tells them he wanted to know about the Super Saiyan God and they were rude. Gotenks says he was only mad because Majin Buu ate all the pudding and he never got to try any. Beerus says pudding might be common for them but he'd never tasted it before. Gotenks has enough and flies to attack him turning into Super Saiyan 3, but is easily taken down.

Piccolo is about to fight, but Vegeta tells him it's no use since Beerus is the God of Destruction. He remembers him visiting Planet Vegeta as a child and how he treated his father, the King. Bulma steps up to Beerus telling him to stop ruining her birthday party and slaps him. Beerus slaps her back. Vegeta loses it and powers up and starts fighting Beerus, actually smacking him back and hitting him with a huge energy blast.

As Kaioshin watches via his crystal ball on his planet, Elder Kaioshin notices that another planet has disappeared, even though Beerus is on Earth. They notice Lord Champa and Vados looking for 'giant wish granting orbs'. Champa notices that they were overheard and they instantly arrive on Kaioshinkai. Champa asks them what they heard, and the Kaiohshins pretend to have heard nothing. Champa glares at them and leaves. Elder Kaioshin thinks the 'giant wish granting orbs' must be the Namekian Dragonballs, so he decides they should head over there and get them before Champa does.

Beerus realizes that Vegeta is not the Super Saiyan God either and is ready to destroy the planet. Just then Goku arrives and tells him to hold on.

The bonus page shows Vegeta disappointed that he didn't get to show off the bingo dance in manga form.

My thoughts-

I knew they were trying to hurry things along, but I never expected them to just cut through an entire scene and just say 'go watch the movie'. From what I remember, Beerus arrived at Bulma's birthday party and Vegeta recognizes him and tries to keep the others from knowing he's the God of Destruction. Vegeta also tries to prevent anyone from angering him so he wouldn't destroy the planet. Some parts include the Pilaf gang showing up trying to steal the Dragonballs, though nobody takes them seriously. Also Vegeta does a Bingo Dance to distract Beerus when he was irritated, buying them more time.

Like the manga mentioned, Beerus comes across Buu who was eating pudding. Buu refused to share it so this finally angers Beerus enough to start a fight. Another scene the movie had was him challenging Oolong to a game of rock, paper, scissors. If he loses, Beerus will just take his leave. Thanks to Yamcha though, Oolong loses the game and Beerus is ready to blow things up. Of course Goku will show up just in time.

The Dragonball Super anime replaced the Vegeta dance with Vegeta trying to show off his cooking skills. I guess they had to leave something new for the anime so it wouldn't just be a beat-by-beat from the movie. Either way, Vegeta swallows his pride to distract Beerus.

Of course, the major part of this chapter, other than seeing the rest of the Dragonball crew, was seeing how much Vegeta has changed. He actually flips out over seeing Beerus slap Bulma and knock her out. This is a very far cry from the Vegeta in the Android saga that didn't care if Bulma and baby Trunks got blown up while he was busy looking for the Androids. Overall Dragonball Super is the story of how Vegeta became a family man and further character progression for him.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
