WWE Smackdown Live- November 6, 2018

By Mark Rodriguez

Shane entered himself in the World Cup Tournament and won it all for Smackdown. How will this affect what Shane and Paige have set up for Survivor Series? Let's find out.

They need to update Paige's pic to showcase her new shorter hairstyle
Shane McMahon and Paige open the show and discuss WWE Survivor Series 2018

Paige welcome Shane to the show and he says he did what he did so he could win the World Cup Tournament for Smackdown. They announce that Survivor Series will have Brock Lesnar VS AJ Styles,  US Champ Nakamura VS Intercontinental Champ Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch VS Ronda Rousey and AoP VS The Bar. They announce that Daniel Bryan will lead the Smackdown team for Survivor Series. This brings out the Mizz to complain.

The Mizz says he should be the Team Captain of the Survivor Series match, especially based on how far he went in the tournament. Paige and Shane say that Mizz and Daniel Bryan will be Co-Captains of the Smackdown Team.

Mizz wants to pick Shane on the team. Daniel Bryan actually agrees and says no one cares more about Smackdown than Shane does. He feels weird agreeing with The Mizz.

First Match- The New Day VS The Usos- Winner is Team Captain of Tag Team Elimination at Survivor Series

Jay and Kofi started out, with Jay actually catching Kofi in mdi-air, but eating a dropkick soon afterwards. With everyone out of the ring, Kofi would distract Jay, letting Big E take him down.

Ads would play as Kofi and Jay would continue to out-wrestle each other. After the ads, Kofi would land a double stomp on Jay and tag Big E in. Jimmy would also be tagged in but Big E would slam him around like he was nothing. Big E would pick up and slam Jimmy to the mat, but couldn't get the pin. Jay would be tagged in and jump off the ropes, but would land right on Big E's knees. Big E would land The Big Ending, but Jimmy would save his brother from the pinfall.

Big E would run and slam Jimmy into the barricade and try to do the same with Jay. Jay would slip out of this and shoved Big E over the barricade. Kofi would jump off the ropes to take down both of the Usos. Kofi landed the SOS on Jay, but he would still kick out of the pin.

After the commercial with Kofi trying to fend off both of the Usos on his own. Big E suddenly launched himself like a missile and sent Jimmy right into the announcer table. Kofi hit Jay with Trouble in Paradise and still didn't get the win. Jay would land a Power Bomb on Kofi off the second ropes. He'd fly off the top rope with a Splash and land the pin on Kofi.

The Usos will be the Team Captains of the Tag Team Elimination Match at Survivor Series. As Team Captains, they want the New Day on their team and they agree.

Daniel Bryan tells The Mizz that he picks Rey Mysterio for the Smackdown Team. Mizz says if Rey Mysterio impressed him in his upcoming match with Cien Almas, he's on the team. Daniel suggests for the final member, both of them can have a pick, and have them both wrestle, and whoever wins will make it on the team. The Mizz actually likes that idea and they both feel weird agreeing with each other.

Becky Lynch Segment-

Becky would talk on how Rousey isn't a champion in the same way since she is, since the Lass Kicker fought to get to where she is and wasn't handpicked. She says she's not coming for Rousey's respect, but for her arm. She got fired up and wants to fight to she challenges anyone for the title.

Suddenly the members of Sanity would come out and bring in Nikki Cross. Nikki would run to the ring and all over the place and tell Becky that she'll play with her. Becky says the champ doesn't play, the champ fights and the match is on.

Second Match- Becky Lynch VS Nikki Cross

With Nikki bouncing all over the ring, it was difficult for Becky to grab onto her and get control of the match at first. Nikki gets Becky caught in the ring apron and attack her viciously. Once Becky got out of the apron she grabbed Nikki and would slam her back and forth against the barricade. Back in the ring, Becky would slam Nikki with the Beck-Sploder but not get the win. Nikki would get Becky in a Crossbody off the ropes but the champ would kick out of the pin. In the end Becky would grab Nikki in the Dis-Arm-Her and the Twisted Sister would tap out.

Daniel Bryan tells Mizz his pick is Jeff Hardy. Mizz says his pick is Samoa Joe. Samoa shows up and says let the best man win.

Third Match- Rey Mysterio VS Andrade Cien Almas

Rey would get Andrade in a Hurricarana to the mat. Cien would clock him with a Reverse Elbow to the face followed by a running knee to the face. Cien would try a second running knee but miss and fall out of the ropes. Rey would leap out of the ring, but Cien would catch him and swing him into the barricade. Cien would keep control on Rey as the ads played.

Cien would get Rey up against the ropes and hit him with a double knee to the face. Cien would do a Moonsault off the top rope and miss, but do a second flip, but still land on Rey's knees. Rey would slide across the mat and hit Cien on a DDT. Rey would do a Hurricarana to send Cien onto the ropes, just the perfect place for the 619. From there Rey would land the Splash and score the win.

Randy Orton would come out of nowhere and hit Rey with the RKO and walk out.

Daniel Bryan thinks Mizz sent him out there. Mizz says he doesn't like Orton since he hit him with the RKO as well. Mizz agrees to let Rey Mysterio on the team.

Paige announces the Women's Smackdown Team for Survivor Series

Paige calls out the members of the Smackdown Team, starting with Carmella joined by R.Truth. Naomi is the next one to be called up. Sonya Deville is the third member. Asuka is the next one called up. Paige calls up the final member, Charlotte but Mandy Rose steps out instead.

Mandy Rose won't take Charlotte's place but she does ask why Paige chose Sonya over her since she eliminated her at the Battle Royale at Evolution. She insults all of the women, but knocks Naomi's personal life, and she attacks her. The others attack Mandy but Sonya grabs her and pulls her away. Mandy gives Sonya the stare-down glare and leaves the ring.

Main Event- Jeff hardy VS Samoa Joe

Mizz and Daniel Bryan would watch as the match takes place. Jeff jumps off the ropes and plants Samoa onto the mat. Samoa manages to shoulder tackle Jeff down.

After the break, Samoa would get Hardy in a head-crush type hold. Out of the ring, Samoa would slam Jeff into the barricade. Jeff would walk the barricade like a tightrope and leap off it to take Samoa down. Samoa Joe would escape the Twist of Fate and go for the Coquina Clutch, but Jeff would reverse that with a jawbreaker. Jeff would land the Twist of Fate successfully the second time and go for the Swanton Bomb but land on Joe's knees. Samoa would get Hardy into the Coquina Clutch and make him tap out.

Samoa would rub his victory into Daniel's face until he would snap and start attacking him. Daniel would take Samoa to the ring and get him into the Yes Lock. Mizz would pull him off and both men would start arguing. Shane would try to pull Daniel off Mizz, but he would toss him over his shoulder. With Shane on the mat looking confused, Daniel Bryan would angrily walk out. This would not bode well for the Smackdown Team at Survivor Series.

The Highs of Smackdown-

Nikki Cross joins Smackdown! It was surprising to see her get called up. She put up a good fight against Becky which even had her guessing. I know some fans might complain Nikki lost, but I mean, she is facing the champ after all, and the Twisted Sister put on a good show.

On the other hand it's good to see Becky defend her title against someone else besides Charlotte and her upcoming match with Rousey. I mean, as a champ, the more title defenses the better.

Without Charlotte and anyone else trying to make Becky look like 'a bad guy that only cares about her title' (or at least making it look like it's a bad thing), the fans are free to adore her. We love Becky and nothing can make us boo her.

New Day VS The Usos- This was a pretty intense match. It almost could have been the main event as both teams really gave it their all. I liked seeing the Usos admit that the New Day would be helpful for their team.

The Mizz and Daniel Bryan- It was fun seeing them work together for once. It was nice seeing them agree with each, and then feel weird that they were actually getting along. And it's always entertaining to have them bicker during the Main Event. I also liked Mizz giving out shoutouts to his previous alliances like the Miztourage and Mizzdow, given that I got back into wrestling during the Mizzdow era. It's also interesting to see that Daniel Bryan is the one causing the team drama and walking out instead of the Mizz.

The Teams being announced- It looks like we got both the male and female teams announced- Though we're still not sure if Charlotte will be the team captain unless that will be determined in the following week. If they're smart they can give Charlotte and Mandy Rose a match, for the sake of giving Mandy something to do.

WWE remembers Cien Almas exists- He actually out up a good show against Rey Mysterio. They really need to use him more. Stop grabbing top talent from NXT and do nothing with them on the main roster.

The Lows of Smackdown-

Sanity- Are they still around? I know they had a big fanbase on NXT, but for me Nikki Cross was my favorite while her teammates were just there. We haven't seen Sanity in weeks and now that they show up, it's basically to introduce Nikki, and fade back into the shadows until the next time WWE remembers them.

My overall opinions

Great show overall. There were no real gripes, except that whenever Cien Almas appears (and in this case Sanity) it reminds us that WWE doesn't know what to do with them. WWE needs to stop calling up people 'just because' and start working out storylines in advance before the next call ups.

I love the chemistry between Mizz and Daniel Bryan and wonder what's going to happen. It seems Smackdown's team might have bigger problems within itself than RAW's team. I wouldn't put it part Randy Orton to try to RKO Rey Mysterio during the Survivor Series match despite it costing his brand the win. Not the first time someone would be unable to set their differences aside and cost their brand the win.

I have to say, it was nice to hear Paige's theme again for a bit as she was getting ready to announce the Smackdown Team. The only other thing to say is... what's the deal with Samoa Joe? Is he injured or not? His knee injury didn't come into play that much during this match. Did his knee just heal up in the span of the last 3 days?

And even though it's spelled Coquina Clutch, to me, it always sounds like they're pronouncing it Co-clean-a Clutch.

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

SNK VS Capcom Chaos Volume 1

By Mark Rodriguez We'll be seeing a few crossovers this month, and we're gonna start with one based on a crossover videogame. If you think the Malibu SF comic series was kinda sloppy, this one was literally all action, pin ups and splash pages, and what little story in it is just plain weird. I'm talking about the SNK VS Capcom Chaos comics made by Happy Comics, translated by Japan and produced with supervision from both SNK Playmore and Capcom. But first a brief explanation on the game this was inspired from. In 2000, Capcom produced Capcom VS SNK Millenium Fight 2000 which would throw the fighters of Capcom and SNK at each other. Unfortunately, aside from Morrigan from Darkstalkers and Nakoruru from Samurai Shodown, the game felt more like Street Fighter VS King of Fighters. Capcom later made Capcom VS SNK 2 Mark of the Millenium with even more characters and variety as well as different modes of play. SNK made their own game, SNK VS Capcom Chaos and it offered a bit more

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
