IDW TMNT # 39

By Mark Rodriguez

The Turtles and Splinter meet up with Old Hob and Slash and see that they're creating an army of mutants, starting with a militarized hermit crab and classic favorite Mondo Gecko. While Hob plans to use his army to wage war on humanity, Splinter sees this as gathering potential allies in their upcoming war against Shredder and Krang's forces. Pigeon Pete was sent off to recruit more members for the mutant army.... and runs into Bebop and Rocksteady.

The comic starts with Bebop and Rocksteady walking around in public, not caring who sees them. They consider wether or not to tell Karai about Pigeon Pete's offer, and decide it's worth checking out if turns out that the Turtles really are back in town. Rocksteady uses his sledgehammer to smash an ATM and they walk off with the money to buy some food. Apolex watches on.

Elsewhere, Mikey is making breakfast and Leo walks in and asks about Donnie. Raph says Don woke up early and went off to talk to Harold. Splinter says he's made his choice and they must continue their battle against Shredder without him.

At Harold's lab, Angel is studying the video of her last fight to see who helped her, but it's too fast to clearly make out. Don shows up. He blows up when he finds out that Harold has put the teleporter on the backburner in exchange for upgrading the Nobody outfit and repairing Metalhead. Harold and Don argue and Angel decides to cut out.

Don apologizes to Harold for screaming and says he's been having hard times with his family. He shows him a message from Fugitoid that confirms that Krang has started to speed things up with the Technodrome and he doesn't know how much longer he can delay his plans. Harold says he most of the framework done for the teleporter and Don offers to help him repair Metalhead.

At the Second Time Around Shop, Casey wakes up and hangs out with the O'Neils as Mr. O'Neil is struggling with the coffee machine. Meanwhile Apolex finally confronts Angel and warns her that Bebop and Rocksteady are planning to ambush the Turtles and they're gonna need help. Angel agrees to help but warns her that it better not be a trick.

Splinter and the Turtles, minus Donnie, meet up with Hob and his crew and tells them that they're ready to bring the fight to Shredder. Just then Pete arrives announcing he brought some new recruits. Everyone is shocked to see Bebop and Rocksteady, eager to start another fight.

Hob tells Pete he sent him to get regular animals from the pet shop and the pigeon says he thought bringing pre-made mutants would save time. The Turtles and Splinter get into defensive positions and Bebop and Rocksteady get ready to fight but Hob fires off some shots and tells them all to stop. He says mutants shouldn't be fighting each other and he asks the rhino and warthog how they can be taking orders from Shredder. He tries to convince them to side with their army, and the two are actually considering it until Hob mentions their war is against humans. Rocksteady says they're half human and Hob shoots him. Bebop and Rocksteady decide to stick with the Foot after all and the fight finally breaks out.

Slash clashes with Rocksteady while Herman and Mondo shoot at Bebop. Splinter tells the Turtles that they should jump in and help since Hob has helped them before. Angel and Apolex drop in to help. Harold and April see Bebop, Rocksteady and the Turtles through Nobody's helmet cam. Harold assumes Don is about to run off and join them into the fight as well, but surprisingly he says he won't and that his family can handle themselves without him. He says he has more important things to do as he continues to work on Metalhead.

My Opinions-

First off, I'd like to say it's pretty awesome that it takes 3 of the Turtles, Angel, Alopex, Old Hob, Herman, Mondo Gecko and Slash to take down Bebop and Rocksteady.

I am enjoying the IDW versions of Bebop and Rocksteady. They're just very enjoyable characters. We have to see how this fight is going to go down though. They were both pretty much unstoppable juggernauts in Cityfall, and even know when Hob and Gecko shot them multiple times, even in the face, bullets are just an annoyance to them. I was wondering if they were really going to side with Hob and his stance on humans, considering that they were once humans, until the subject came up. Come to think of it, these two are the only human-turned-mutants in the series so far.

I still love the fact that Mondo Gecko is in this. Right now he's introduced as just another one of Hob's gang, but I do hope eventually he gets more focus and character development. I still think they should have given Bebop a better weapon than a chainsaw. Yeah, it sounds awesome in concept... but while Rocksteady can still get away with swinging his sledgehammer like a bat and send the Turtles flying... you know Bebop is never going to actually get to hack and slash the Turtles. Having them name their weapons was a nice touch though.

Next issue promises one hell of an epic fight! I can't wait!

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

SNK VS Capcom Chaos Volume 1

By Mark Rodriguez We'll be seeing a few crossovers this month, and we're gonna start with one based on a crossover videogame. If you think the Malibu SF comic series was kinda sloppy, this one was literally all action, pin ups and splash pages, and what little story in it is just plain weird. I'm talking about the SNK VS Capcom Chaos comics made by Happy Comics, translated by Japan and produced with supervision from both SNK Playmore and Capcom. But first a brief explanation on the game this was inspired from. In 2000, Capcom produced Capcom VS SNK Millenium Fight 2000 which would throw the fighters of Capcom and SNK at each other. Unfortunately, aside from Morrigan from Darkstalkers and Nakoruru from Samurai Shodown, the game felt more like Street Fighter VS King of Fighters. Capcom later made Capcom VS SNK 2 Mark of the Millenium with even more characters and variety as well as different modes of play. SNK made their own game, SNK VS Capcom Chaos and it offered a bit more

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
