Mae Young Classic 2018- Semi Finals October 24, 2018

By Mark Rodriguez

This is it! The two final matches to decide who will be the two women to face off at the first WWE All-Woman PPV, Evolution. Who will these two be?

Match 1- Toni Storm VS Meiko Satomura

Both women try to lock the other up until Toni gets Meiko in a headlock. Meiko gets Toni in a headscissors but Toni still gets out of it and goes back to the headlock. Toni sends Meiko to the mat with a running boot and starts kicking her around. She then gives her headbutts and goes for the pin, but Meiko still kicks out. Meiko starts giving Toni hard strikes on the underleg and then locked her in a modified version of the Figure Four Leg Lock to cause even more harm to the legs. Even though Toni grabs the ropes to break the hold, Meiko delivers more hard strikes to the legs.

Meiko hits the Australian Storm with a Spinning Knee Kick but she still grabs her in a Leglock/Headlock submission hold. After a great struggle, Meiko is able to grab onto the ropes but she is now worn out. Toni gets her in the Fisherman Plex, but Meiko still managed to kick out. Toni does a Suicide Dive out of the ring and slams Meiko against the steel ramp, though it seems Toni hurt her elbow.

Both women get back in the ring and exchange blows. Meiko hits Toni with a DDT and a Spinning Knee Kick but her opponent is still able to kick out of the pin. The Final Boss hits her with the Death Valley Driver but Toni still kicks out. Meiko tries a Running Knee but Toni grabs her and slams her with a German Suplex followed by Storm Zero. Meiko kicks out of the pin.

Toni tries for a second Storm Zero but Meiko kicks her in the face, but can't get the pin. The Final Boss goes for the Scorpion Kick to the back of the neck but the Australian Storm kicks out yet again. Now frustrated, Meiko tries for another Death Valley Driver but Toni reverses it into the Storm Zero and wins the match. Toni Storm advances to the final match at Evolution.

Both woman show respect for each other and Meiko walks off to get congratulated by Triple H. Kari Sane, the winner of last year's Mae Young Classic comes in to congratulate Toni with a bouquet of roses. Triple H congratulates Toni Storm as well.

Match 2- Rhea Ripley VS Io Shirai

Rhea starts off showing off the difference of her size and power by throwing Shirai around. Rhea gets her in a hold and Shirai kicks her in the face, trying to get out. Rhea angrily socks her in the ribs in a few times. She then grabs Shirai in an Abdominal Stretch and actually starts digging her fingers into her ribs. After several painful moments, Shirai is finally able to sock her in the face a few times to get out of it. Rhea locks her in a Bodyscissors to put more pain on the ribs and keep her grounded. Shirai tries to reverse this into a pin, but Rhea would kick out but still hold onto her, socking her in the back of her neck while still gripping her in the Bodyscissors. Shirai tries another pin and finally gets out of that hold as Rhea kicks out.

Rhea goes a Vertical Suplex and slams her down. She tries to pin Shirai twice, but she kicks out both times. Rhea goes back to the Bodyscissors but this time Shirai can turn around to face her and punch her in the face until she lets go. Now with Rhea rolling out of the ring, Shirai goes for a Suicide Duve and plants her on the steel ramp, but now both women are down. Rhea gets into the ring first and Shirai just barely beats the 10 count.

The women exchange blows and Shirai hits her with an uppercut. With Rhea on the ropes, Shirai hits her with the 619. Shirai hits her with a missile dropkick but Rhea kicks out of the pin. Shirai tries to climb the ropes for the Moonsault but Rhea pulls her leg so she trips up and is now stuck on the ropes. Rhea climbs the ropes as well and grabs Shirai for a Super Plex off the ropes. Despite this, Shirai still kicks out of the pin. Shirai throws Rhea shoulder-first into the steel post and then runs in with a Meteora in the face. With Rhea down, The Genius of the Skies climbs the ropes and hits with the Moonsault. Io Shirai wins the match and will be facing Toni Storm at Evolution. Kari Sane and Triple H congratulate both women.

My Overall Opinions

Since there were only two matches, I might as well throw my opinions here. Looking at the four women, I was not 100% sure who would win between Meiko and Toni, but I was pretty sure they were going to have Shirai beat Ripley. Mostly because Ripley is already on NXT UK anyways and because there was a lot of hoopla behind WWE signing Io Shirai. Now with Meiko VS Toni, I had an idea Toni was going to win, but when Meiko kicked out of the Storm Zero and then landed the Death Valley Driver I was sure that it. I was just as surprised as the crowd was when Toni kicked out. Once Toni hit Super Cena Mode and started kicking out of everything though, I already figured she was going to win.

As for the matches themselves, they were both pretty intense with all four women giving everything they got. Meiko and Toni both have a full set of impressive strikes and holds and submission moves. As for Rhea, the spot with her digging her fingers into Shirai's ribs and then that Super-Plex off the ropes surprised me. She is very impressive. Shirai is also full of intensity and main energy once she starts doing those Meteoras. Also, I was surprised and entertained by this random bit of smack talk between Becky Lynch and Rhea Ripley sometime before the match on Twitter.

Very unexpected, but I would not object to having Becky come down to NXT UK and see these two fight it out

While I'm not 100% sure who will win between Toni and Shirai, but I'm betting on Io Shirai.

In other news, Mia Yim made her debut in NXT today, defeating Aliyah.

Also at a non-WWE PPV, Rise 10 Insanity, Jinny defeated Madison Rayne in a Queen VS Queen match and Mercedes Martinez defeated Tessa Blanchard in the first ever 75 minute Iron Man match and won the Phoenix of Rise Championship. Rise seems to have a lot of the women that took part in the Mae Young Classic, so I'll also be watching out for future PPVs from them.

But for now, it will be Toni Storm VS Io Shirai at Evolution to determine who will win the Mae Young Classic 2018!! Who do YOU think is going to win?? Since this will be part of the PPV, I will be discussing the final match when I review the PPV itself.

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

SNK VS Capcom Chaos Volume 1

By Mark Rodriguez We'll be seeing a few crossovers this month, and we're gonna start with one based on a crossover videogame. If you think the Malibu SF comic series was kinda sloppy, this one was literally all action, pin ups and splash pages, and what little story in it is just plain weird. I'm talking about the SNK VS Capcom Chaos comics made by Happy Comics, translated by Japan and produced with supervision from both SNK Playmore and Capcom. But first a brief explanation on the game this was inspired from. In 2000, Capcom produced Capcom VS SNK Millenium Fight 2000 which would throw the fighters of Capcom and SNK at each other. Unfortunately, aside from Morrigan from Darkstalkers and Nakoruru from Samurai Shodown, the game felt more like Street Fighter VS King of Fighters. Capcom later made Capcom VS SNK 2 Mark of the Millenium with even more characters and variety as well as different modes of play. SNK made their own game, SNK VS Capcom Chaos and it offered a bit more

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
