AEW Dark Episode 173- 12/06/2022 (Women's Wrestling)

 By Mark Rodriguez

We only get two matches this time and Leva Bates reminds us she still works here and Athena gets to have one more match before her big one at Ring of Honor Final Battle.

Match 1- Leva Bates vs Abadon

Both women grapple and Abadon slams her face to the mat. Abadon then lies on the mat and waves at Leva to creep her out. Leva manages to trip them down with a drop toe hold and then uses her fingers as a crucifix over Abadon. Abadon gets behind Leva and grabs her in a full nelson. Abadon gets Leva in a snapmare and then gets behind her and uses the fish hooks on her.

I don't think that works on zombies, Leva

Leva yells at Abadon that what they did was not sanitary and kicks them in the midsection. She then manages to kicks them in the head and grabs them for a Northern Lights Suplex but she can't keep her down. Leva shoves Abadon towards the ropes, but the Living Dead Girl goes over to the apron to dodge her next move. One the other side of the ropes, Abadon is able to sock Leva in the face to knock her back.

Abadon climbs back in and slams Leva down with a cutter. They charge towards Leva, who manages to get out of the way. With Abadon on the ropes, Leva starts throwing kicks until they fall. Leva runs at Abadon, goes for the ropes and slams both of her knees into her opponent. Leva goes for the pin but can't keep them down. The Librarian grabs the zombie and slams them with a German Suplex.

Leva tries to grab them for another suplex, but Abadon kicks her in the face. Abadon then hits her with the enzuigiri. They take this chance to grab Leva and plant her with the Black Dahlia. Abadon gets the pin and the win against Leva Bates.

Match 2- Athena vs B3cca

Athena offers a handshake. B3cca slaps her hand away, so Athena slaps her in the face hard enough to knock her down. Athena goes for the ground and pound and then picks her up to hit her with uppercuts. She then viciously tosses B3cca across the ring. Athena throws B3cca into the middle turnbuckle and starts stomping away at her.

B3cca manages to kick Athena back and then start throwing some forearm shots at her. She finally knocks her down with an enzuigiri. Athena grabs her and whips her towards the ropes. B3cca manages to stop herself in time and hits Athena with a back elbow as she tried to run into her. B3cca goes for the ropes and slams Athena with a Diving Cutter.

She pins Athena but the Fallen Goddess manages to kicks out. B3cca tries to grab her for a suplex, but Athena manages to shove her toward the ropes. B3cca runs at her and tries to get Athena with the hurricarana but The Fallen Goddess hits her in the back and stops her. She then picks her up for what looks like a delayed vertical suplex but instead she throws her out of the ring!

Athena gets out of the ring and grabs B3cca, running her into the steel steps. Athena grabs her and gets her back into the ring. She then grabs her in a submission move that ties her legs together while she yanks her hair back. The ref gets on her for pulling the hair, so Athena clobbers B3cca on the back of the head. She then grabs her in the Dragon Sleeper and B3cca taps out. Athena doesn't let go until she's passed out. Athena wins the match and does her victory pose while setting a foot on B3cca's head.

My Thoughts-

Pretty cool match between Leva and Abadon. It was a bit longer than I expected and not a squash. Leva actually caused her some trouble and got to do fun things with her 'by the book' character. We even got to see her do a Northern Lights Suplex. Abadon is always amazing and had fun with the creepy gimmick. Nowadays the character is a little more playful, while still creepy, which adds a bit more personality than literally acting like a zombie.

Athena continues her reign of terror, throwing people outside of the ring and continuing to attack them after the bell rings. That part with the vertical lift and then throwing B3cca out of the ring like that shocked me. That's a long way down to the floor.

I also enjoyed the commentary asking about B3cca's name. "Since when is a 3 and E?" "You know, back in the AOL Instant Messenger days". Even Athena got to take a crack at her.

Athena is set to face Mercedes Martinez for the Ring of Honor Women's Title this upcoming weekend at Ring of Honor Final Battle. I'm surprised Mercedes didn't show up during this match. Athena is set to say a few words on AEW Rampage before the event. We'll see how Mercedes fares against this more brutal version of the Fallen Goddess.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
