AEW Dark Elevation Episode 92- 12/05/2022 (Women's Matches)

 By Mark Rodriguez

We got three matches this time for Dark Elevation. This time we get Emi Sakura going up against Madison Rayne. Kiera Hogan also starts carving her own path since Jade kicked her out of the Baddies.

Match 1- Kitty LaFleur & Alice Crowley vs "The Native Beast" Nyla Rose & "The Problem" Marina Shafir w/ Vickie Guerrero

The match opens with Marina Shafir and Kitty LaFleur squaring off. Marina grabs her and trips her up. Kitty gets out of the way and both women start throwing forearm shots at each other. Marina breaks this up by hitting her with a harsh chop. Marina then flips her to the mat. She then grabs her opponent in several painful submission moves. With Kitty trapped in a leglock, Marina is able to crawl over and tag Nyla in. Nyla finds the perfect place to stomp on her.

Nyla picks up Kitty and body slams her. She then lands on her with a legdrop. Nyla gets her up against the ropes and presses her knee on the back of her head. Nyla is distracted by Vickie making faces towards the crowd and Kitty manages to hit her in the face. Nyla hits her with a back elbow and picks her up. Kitty is able to escape her grasp and hit her in the back. As Nyla tries to hit her, Kitty sneaks out from under her and tags Alice in.

Nyla runs in and knocks Alice down the moment she steps into the ring. Nyla also knocks Kitty off the apron. Nyla tags Marina in and shoves Alice towards her. Marina knocks her down with a knee to the face, and then Nyla lands on her with a splash. Marina gets Alice in the Greedy submission move but Kitty runs in to break it up before she can tap. Nyla runs in to throw her out of the ring. Nyla and Marina both pick up and slam Alice down and Marina gets the pin.

Nyla Rose and Marina Shafir get the win, though Vickie Guerrero looks angry for some reason.

Match 2- Kiera Hogan vs Nikki Victory

Both women square up and Nikki is the first to nail Kiera with a knee to the midsection. She then whips the former Baddie over to the ringpost. Nikki runs towards her, but Kiera is able to leap off the ropes and over her. Both women try to run into each other but Kiera stops her dead in her tracks with a fist to the face. Kiera trips Nikki so she falls into the ropes. With Nikki hanging off the ropes, Kiera runs at her with a hip attack to the back of the head. As Nikki wobbled back to her feet, Kiera knocks her back down with a thrust kick to the face. Kiera goes for the pin but Nikki kicks out.

Kiera waits til Nikki gets up to kick her again. However, Nikki catches her leg and socks her in the face. Nikki gets her up against the ropes and continues to hit her with forearm shots until Kiera pushes her off her. Nikki runs at her and hits her with an elbow to the face. Nikki gets Kiera with a snapmare and then gets her on her back, going for the pin. Kiera kicks out.

Nikki shoves Kiera around as she tries to get back to her feet. She then tries to hit her but Kiera blocks the strikes and hits her back. Kiera then knocks her down with a running clothesline. With Nikki up against the ropes, Kiera hits her with a running clothesline, which makes her fall the mat. Kiera then runs towards her and hits her with a hip attack to the face. She then runs for the ropes and comes back with a sliding dropkick. With Nikki on her knees, Kiera clocks her in the jaw with a spinning kick and lays her out. She goes for the pin but Nikki surprisingly kicks out.

Kiera runs at Nikki as she gets up and gets kicked in the midsection. Nikki then grabs her and slams her down with a cutter. She goes the pin but Kiera kicks out. Kiera gets her in a chin buster. She then grabs her for a suplex and keeps her pinned to win the match.

Match 3- Madison Rayne vs Emi Sakura

Both women make their entrance and while Madison is style posing for the crowd, Emi knocks her down with a dropkick and starts stomping on her. The bell finally rings and Emi grabs her for a double-underhook suplex. Emi hits Madison with a chop and dares her to hit her back. Madison lands some chops and Emi just laughs it off and knocks her down with a single chop. Emi folds Madison up and slaps her on the butt. She then sits on her and enjoys some tea, even sharing some with the ref. She then gets back up and stomps on Madison as she's trying to recover.

Emi starts throwing some chops with Madison caught up against the ropes. She starts the 'We Will Rock You' chants and runs at her for a flying crossbody. Madison puts a stop to this with a boot to the face. With Emi reeling back, Madison hits her with a barrage of forearm shots and chops, finally knocking her down. Madison runs in and knocks Emi flat on her back with a diving lariat. She then grabs her for a Northern Lights Suplex, but Emi hits her in the ribs to make her let go.

Madison grabs onto Emi, but her opponent rakes her nails across her back. She then hits Madison with a swinging neckbreaker. With Madison up against the ropes, Emi runs into her with the flying crossbody, this time connecting. Emi tries to get her ready for her next move, but Madison gets out of it and slams her with a cutter. She goes for the pin but Emi kicks out.

Madison gets her ready for another move but Emi reaches back and pokes her eyes. She takes advantage of this to gets her in a roll up pin. Emi Sakura wins the match!

Emi loves to celebrate with the ref, much as his expense

My Thoughts-

The first match was alright, though I wish we saw some offense from Alice Crowley. Kitty showed some fire near the beginning, nearly overtaking Marina when they were both throwing shots at each other, but afterwards she fell victim to all the submission moves. Alice has been on Dark and Dark Elevation, facing off against Julia Hart and Penelope Ford, but this time she was just there to get knocked down and slammed. Vickie was waving to someone in the crowd and doing the 'call me' gesture. There was a bit of an odd edit there, where Nyla was pressing Kitty up against the ropes and then suddenly talking to Aubrey. Then she tried to call Vickie's attention. I have no idea what happened there. Maybe the guy she was hitting on turned her down or something.

The match with Kiera and Nikki was pretty evenly matched. Even with Kiera being the bigger star, Nikki went all out against her and was fighting back at every turn. Now that Kiera is no longer associated with Jade, she has a chance to rebuild herself as a singles star.

With Emi VS Madison, it was a decent enough match. I'm actually surprised that Emi won since she's been on a bit of a losing streak this time. I could argue that Madison Rayne was the bigger star of this one so I was surprised Emi took this one; this is one of her bigger and better wins since being stuck on Dark and Dark Elevation. Now if we can only see her back on TV sometime.

Kiera will get a shot at Jade and the Baddies on Dynamite as she teams up with Madison Rayne and Skye Blue.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
