NWA USA- Season 5 Episode 5 12/17/2022 (Women's Wrestling)

 By Mark Rodriguez

The Champion Series continues as we see Taya Valkyrie, Max The Impaler and Jennacide in action! Which two teams will join Teams Tyrus and Great in the next round?

Match 1- Taya Valkyrie (Team Rock N Roll) VS La Rosa Negra (Team Pretty)

La Rosa Negra makers her NWA debut by showing some disrespect, shaking her booty towards Taya. Taya literally kicks her butt. They grapple each other, but Taya socks Rosa Negra back towards the ropes. Taya leans her up against the ropes and hits her with a chop. Both women try to gain the upperhand, running against the ropes and missing each other until Taya finally grabs Rosa Negra with an armdrag. Taya runs into her and hits her with a back elbow and shakes her butt up against Rosa Negra now. Taya grabs Rosa Negra for a snapmare and hits her in the spine with a dropkick. With Rosa bent in half, Taya grabs her for the pin, but she kicks out.

Rosa Negra grabs Taya in a rear waist lock, picks her up and slams her. Rosa tries to get her into a submission move and Taya tries to reposition herself so she can pin her shoulder down. Taya grabs Rosa's arm, kicks her in the midsection and then hair whips her to the mat. Taya then hits her with a stomp and the screen fades to black. The following message is shown.

During the course of this match, La Rosa Negra suffered serious internal injury at the hands of Taya Valkyrie, causing NWA officials to suspend this Champion Series Match. Unfortunately, Taya Valkyrie would choose to ignore NWA officials and continue to assault a prone La Rosa Negra. As a result, Team Pretty received 3 points for a disqualification, and NWA USA GM Tim Storm has suspended Taya Valkyrie until 2023. Due to the severity of La Rosa Negra's injuries and the resulting actions from Taya Valkyrie, the remainder of this match will not be broadcast.

Match 2- Jennacide (Team Rock N Roll) VS Ella Envy (Team Pretty)

Both women grapple and Jennacide just shoves Ella backwards, making her fall to the mat. Ella tries to grab her in a half nelson, but Jennacide stands there unaffected. Jennacide then grabs her in a half nelson and shakes her around. She then grabs her and knees her in the face several times. She then rolls Ella with a snapmare and kicks her across the spine. Jennacide slams Ella's face into the mat and then grabs her in a submission hold, yanking her arms back. Jennacide switches to apply pressure to one of Ella's arms, but she is able to grab the ropes and escape the hold.

Ella runs towards Jennacide and gets tripped up by a drop toe hold. Jennacide grapples with her on the mat and Ella tries to roll out of it until she now gains control. Jennacide gets up and picks up Ella. She runs over to the ringpost and bashes her opponent's back against it. With Ella hanging on the ropes, Jennacide runs and jumps at her but misses due to her getting out of the way. Ella jumps on her back and gets her in a sleeper.

Jennacide walks over towards the ringpost and bashes her back against it twice. Ella refuses to let go, so Jennacide purposely drops herself backwards to slam her almost into a Samoan Drop. Ella goes up against the ropes and Jennacide goes over to kick her and hit her with a chop. Ella tries to crawl away as her opponent follows. Ella gets up against the other ringpost and that just gets her another kick and chop from Jennacide. Jennacide whips her towards the other corner of the ring and hits her with a running uppercut.

Jennacide rolls back to get some space and runs towards Ella to hit her with a high boot to the face. Jennacide grabs Ella and tries to hit her, but she does the Matrix-style lean back to dodge it. While Ella is still in that pose, Jennacide hits her midsection with an elbow drop, smashing her into the mat. Ella rolls out of the mat to regroup as her tag partner Kenzie Page as well as the rest of Team Pretty try to keep her motivated.

Everyone runs out of the way as Jennacide walks over and hits Ella with a chop. She picks her in a fireman's carry and heads towards the ring. Ella slips from her grasp and shoves her face into the ring post. She then grabs Jennacide's arm and swings it into the steel ring post. Ella rolls into the ring to break the count and gets back out, swinging Jennacide's arm into the ring post again. She then grabs her arms and pulls her forward, making Jennacide hit her face against the post. Ella then gets back into the ring and yanks on Jennacide's arm until the ref breaks it up.

Ella gets back out of the ring. Jennacide tries to run into her but Ella sidesteps her and shoves her towards the steel steps. Ella gets high fives from Team Pretty and starts posing over Jennacide. She then grabs her hand and slams it into the steel steps. Ella finally gets her into the ring and goes for the pin. Jennacide kicks out.

Ella kicks Jennacide across the back twice and then kicks her in the chest as she tries to stand up. Jennacide hit her back but Ella strikes back, knocking her back down to the mat. Ella slams Jennacide's hand into the mat and then starts stomping on her arm. She gets Jennacide into a headlock and her opponent fights her way back onto her feet. Ella tries to suplex her, but Jennacide hangs on and ends up suplexing her instead.

Both women are down and struggling to get back up to their feet. As they get up, Jennacide hits Ella with several attacks and then knocks her down with a spinning kick to the side of the head. Jennacide grabs Ella's legs and gets her in a more elevated version of the Figure Four. Ella manages to grab the ropes to break the move. Ella manages to flip Jennacide on the other side of the ropes and tries to sock her off the ring apron. Jennacide hits her with a scorpion kick across the face. With Ella on her knees, Jennacide springboards off the ropes and hits her with an elbow drop. She goes for the pin but Ella kicks out. Jennacide goes for a swing but Ella grabs her arms and gets her in the fujiwara armbar. Jennacide tries to roll over to turn this into a pin but Ella lets go.

Jennacide gets in a back slide pin. When Ella slips out of it, Jennacide clocks her in the face with her knee. Ella is out cold and Jennacide goes for the pin and scores the win. With this victory, Team Rock N Roll advances to the next round. Team Pretty is out of the Champion Series.

Match 3- Ashley D'Amboise & Max The Impaler (Team Rebelion) VS Natalia Markova & Roxy (Team Gold)

The match opens with Natalia being brave enough to face off against The Warlord of the Wasteland, Max the Impaler. Natalia gets in their face and actually shoves them back. With Max being without reach, Ashley taps their back, which tags herself in. Max grab Ashley by the throat until she convinces them to let them in the ring. Ashley and Natalia grapple, and Natalia flips Ashley over with a vicious arm drag. Ashley gets up and dares Natalia to come over. She hits her with a chop across the neck and continues to egg her on. Natalia responds by sending her flying with a Tijeras.

Natalia gets Ashley towards the ringpost and hits her with a running elbow. She then rolls along the mat and grabs Ashley for a cutter. Ashley rolls over to her side of the ring and Max tries to climb into the ring. The ref keeps them back since a tag wasn't made and Ashley seems too intimidated to tag them. As Ashley turns around, Roxy has been tagged in and she socks her in the face. Roxy keeps hitting her in the face several times and then kicks her down to the mat.

Roxy runs towards Ashley, but is grabbed and bounced into the ropes. Ashley then hangs her off the ropes and pins her knee against the back of her neck. Ashley slams Roxy's face into the top turnbuckle and then shoulder-rams her midsection. Ashley tries to get her into a suplex, but Roxy ends up suplexing her instead.  Both women go to their respective corners and tag in their partners. Natalia and Max face off.

Natalia throws some shots at Max, which doesn't even make them budge. Max grabs her by the throat and tosses her towards one of the corners of the ring. Max runs towards Natalia and she climbs onto the turnbuckle to get out of the way. Natalia climbs onto Max trying to grab them but Max just flings her off them. Natalia crawls over to tag in Roxy. Max tags Ashley in, and then grabs her by the throat and flings her into the ring.

Ashley knocks Roxy down with a clothesline and then hits her with a legdrop. Ashley grabs her and shoves her face into the mat with her boot, a slightly different variation of the curb stomp. Ashley makes her bounce against the ropes and Roxy leaps and flips onto her, trying to get her into a pin. Ashley drops down and starts slamming Roxy's head against the mat. Ashley and Roxy fight for control, one trying to slam the other, until Roxy shoves Ashley towards her corner of the ring. Natalia gets tagged in and she quickly punches Ashley, knocking her down.

Natalia dares Max to step into the ring, and the Warlord of the Wasteland goes after her. Natalia manages to land a few hits and actually makes them double over with a knee to the midsection. Natalia kicks Max in the face and then hits them with a roundhouse kick to the face. This actually rocks Max and makes them stumble towards the ring post. Natalia runs over and hits Max with a back kick. With Max rolling out of the ring, Natalia kicks Ashley in the midsection and slams her with a Jazz Stinger.

Natalia goes for the pin but Max comes in to break it up. Max picks up Natalia and slams her violently with a back breaker. The ref tells Max to go back to the apron, but is ignored. Roxy gets being Max and grabs them for an off the rope DDT. However, Max doesn't budge, leaving Roxy to just fall on the mat and at the mercy of the Nonbinary Nightmare. Roxy crawls back over to her corner to get away from Max. Max grabs Ashley's leg and drags her over to her corner so they can properly be tagged back in.

Roxy better run!!

Now with Max being legal, they run over to grab Natalia's leg to prevent them from tagging in her partner. Natalia kicks them back towards the ropes. Natalia goes for another running back kick but Max catches her and picks her up. Natalia manages to get out of it and shoves them back. Max runs at her but Natalia kicks them in the face. Natalia climbs onto the top turnbuckle and gets Max with a Tornado DDT. She goes for the pin but Max kicks out.

As Max gets up, Natalia is ready to bounce off the ropes and continue the attack but Ashley kicks her in the back. Natalia socks Ashley in the jaw, knocking her off the apron. As she turns around, she walks right into Max wrapping their hand around her throat. Natalia gets them in a jawbreaker and quickly tags Roxy in while Roxy is still dazed. Roxy runs in but is quickly leveled by Max's lariat. Roxy is out cold and Max pins her for the win. Team Rebelion advances while Team Gold is out.

My Thoughts-

What an interesting set of matches, but that first one was weird. The matches are shown on Fite TV first before they hit Youtube, but I'm assuming both are edited. After comparing this episode on both sites, both are 33:34 minutes long so it's not like Fite TV showed the match in full and Youtube cut it. I just wonder how violent it got with Taya Valkyrie either not knowing or just deciding to continuing to attack La Rosa Negra despite her being shoot injured. I wonder why they even showed the first part of the match alone, but I guess NWA did their job to get us curious. At least for now it seems we won't be seeing Taya Valkyrie and La Rose Negra in action for a while. Overall, the not knowing what actually happened made the situation feel a little unsettling.

The Jennacide match was pretty good. She's always awesome and Ella Envy did put up a good fight. I was a bit confused by how long Jennacide was out of the ring though. Ella did break her own count, but it felt like it was long enough for Jennacide to have been counted out. There were a lot of cool slams and submission moves in this one, though one of my favorite spots was when Ella did the lean back dodge and then Jennacide did the elbow drop on her. That's something for Penelope Ford to watch over, since she has a similar dodge move.

The third match is a lot of fun as Max always brings so much personality into things. Max being this untamed savage just changes every match they're in and everyone around them acts differently. Before the match they had several members of Team Rebelion and Team Gold talking, but when it came to show Max, they'd just be growling or staring menacingly at the camera. Just seeing how Ashley has to tie-toe around their uneasy alliance is fun to watch too. I also liked how Natalia just brought the fight to Max without showing fear or holding back. Ashley got to show off some cool moves too and Roxy got make her debut.

Very cool matches, though the biggest mystery is exactly how that first match played out. It was also the show opener so it started things off with an odd vibe.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
