IDW TMNT # 60

By Mark Rodriguez

The Turtles come home in time to see Kitsune and Alopex killing the Foot! Not only that but Kitsune stabs Master Splinter!!

The issue opens in ancient Japan as a retainer who served the Governor of Kai ran into a multi-tailed fox on his way home. He shot at it with a noisemaker arrow to scare is away but it struck it in the back of the leg. As the man tried to get another arrow, the fox returned in front of him. Before he could shoot again, the fox suddenly vanished. When the man was a short distance from his home, he saw the fox again, now running with a burning branch in its mouth. The retainer gave chase and saw the fox turn into a woman and set his house on fire. Before the man could fire an arrow, the woman turned back into a fox and ran off. The house burned down.

The Turtles witness Splinter get stabbed by Kistune. Splinter is still alive but before Kistune could do more damage, Mike tosses his grappling hook around her neck and pulls her back. Splinter pulls the knife out as Leo and Raph fight the Foot. Leo makes sure Splinter is alright, and he tells them to fight Kistune, who is the only true enemy at the moment. Mike needs help with Kistune and Raph tosses a sai, cutting the grappling rope.

Mike is confused as to why Raph did that, but it's revealed that Kitsune has taken control of his mind. Mike falls under her spell as well. Raph smacks Leo, and Kitsune tries to take control of him as well. Having being under her spell before, Leo fights off her control and tosses the knife back at her. Unable to control Leo and Splinter, Kitsune sends Raph and Mike after them.

Jennika tries to hold Alopex off, telling her that she's under Kitsune's control. The winter fox tackles her down.

Meanwhile, Aka appears before April as she's trying to study up on the Pantheon. She tells her that her friends need her help in a more immediate nature and hands her a feather. She tells her to listen to his words very carefully.

Splinter and Leo try to fend off Mike and Raph. Splinter uses precise attacks to immobilize both of the brainwashed turtles. Kitsune comments on how Splinter attacked his own sons as a portal appears beside her. Don arrives and is confused as to what is going on, and falls under Kitsune's control. Splinter heads off to stop Donatello as Leonardo stops Alopex from killing Jennika. Alopex recognizes Leo for a second, before Kitsune regains control and makes her see him as the bear she once fought as an ordinary fox. Leo dodges her attack and elbows her in the back of the head, knocking her out. Likewise, Splinter soon knocks Don out.

Leo, Splinter and Jennika face Kistune, and the fox witch asks Jennika if she's willing to atone for her past sins by facing her. April then appears and Kitsune asks what she could possibly do to challenge her. April shows her Aka's feather and recites a prayer that casts white magic over her. Kitsune's mind control is gone, so she turns into a fox and runs off.

The Rat King appears behind Aka and comments on how she's not as neutral after all. Aka says that like Kitsune mentioned earlier, none are truly innocent.

The Turtles and Splinter recover, and Jennika notices that Alopex has gone missing. Kitsune boards her helicopter, angry that Aka interfered in her plans. She notices that the helicopter pilots aren't attacking her and her mind control still works, the spell being only temporary. Kitsune says Aka's benevolence will be her undoing. She says she still succeeded in claiming her prize, the box with Shredder's head. Upon opening it, she only finds Shredder's empty helmet. Splinter still has Saki's skull.

My opinions

Nice story with some decent action. I would have liked to have seen more fighting against Mike, Raph and Don, but we had more story to cover. It was nice seeing April be part of the action for once, she usually seems to show up before or after the fact, and here she got to save the day.

Splinter is a tough rat. Not only did her not die from a seemingly fatal stab wound, that even Kitsune is surprised he survived, he was still able to defeat Mike, Raph and Don with quick precise strikes. Um.. ok? Maybe he was stabbed in a not-so-vital region, but Kistune was right there, she would have known where to strike.

I roughly remember Aka from the April and Casey special that went deeper into the Pantheon story. This story so far has been rather interesting, particularly because it's an all-new story, with mostly all-new characters involved, and not just another fight against Shredder or Krang. Still wish Splinter just got rid of Kitsune from the start.

Not too much I can say about the story. I wonder where Alopex went. I was half expecting her to try to attack Kitsune in the helicopter. I guess we'll have to see what happens next.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
