IDW TMNT # 57

By Mark Rodriguez

The Turtles finally reunite in the Technodrome and meet Leatherhead, the one who helped save Donatello's body back when his consciousness was still inside Metalhead. He offers to help the Turtles and Fugitoid revive the Utrom race out of cryo-sleep in exchange of taking him with them so he has a new world to live in. However, Fugitoid discovered several dead Utroms, and before he could alert anybody he was mauled into pieces. Was this Leatherhead's doing? Let's find out.

The issue opens with some of the revived Utroms, along with the Turtles, discovered their fellow Utroms murdered alongside what's left of Fugitoid. Mikey arrives and is shocked at what he sees. The Utroms say they can probably repair the machine, and Donnie snaps at them saying that Fugitoid is a person and is responsible for bringing them out of stasis. The Utroms ask who they are, where they are, and what happened to General Krang. Donnie says Krang is unavailable, but they are all on Earth now. The Utrom asks again who they are.

Everyone introduces each other, and Leo explains that without Fugitoid he's the leader of the group. The Utrom named Ma'Riell is the chief science advisor and their Councilor Lorqa being one of the murdered Utroms, and Krang not being available he is in charge. Leatherhead says he is the one that found the murdered Utroms and Fugitoid and sounded the alarm, placing the Technodrome under lockdown. Leatherhead adds that he smelled a distant fire, like a campfire. The Turtles determine they should check this out.

Leo has Don work on repairing Fugitoid and making sure the portal works, and has Mikey watch his back. Leo asks Leatherhead if he can show them where he smelled the fire and they will go with Raph. Ma'Riell asks if they should release the rest of the Utroms from stasis and Leo says it's their call.

Leatherhead leads Leo and Raph through tunnels under the Technodrome and run into a giant sized Mouser equipped with laser guns. Leo plans an attack but Leatherhead just runs in and mows it down. Raph tells Leo to remind him to never challenge Leatherhead to a wrestling match.

The Utroms succeed in reviving Fugitoid, but is now in a coma and unable to respond. Donnie is worried, but Fugitoid is still technically alive and should be OK. One of the Utroms says they should awaken the rest of their kind and asks why Ma'Riell's brother, Colonel Ch'Rell hasn't been awakened yet.

Leatherhead leads Raph and Leo deeper into the waters. He tells them that his life as mutant has led to him being hunted and he probably doesn't belong in Mother Nature's plan. Just then Traag and Granitor appear, aiming their guns at the mutants. Leatherhead dives in into the water, leaving the Turtles behind. The Stone Warrior say they only want the Turtles' breathing masks and they'll let them go. Leo says they'll die without the breathing masks anyway and Raph says they'll pay for killing the Utroms and Fugitoid. The Stone Warriors seem confused by this and the Turtles attack them.

The Stone Warriors are tough but the Turtles soon take them down. Leo even holds a blade to Traag's eye and they surrender. Leo says they'll take them back to the Technodrome to answer to the murders they committed. The Stone Warriors say they don't know anything about the murders and they've been trapped walking around for weeks, barely surviving due to the Dimension X atmosphere. Leo wonders if they didn't kill the Utroms, then who did.

Leatherhead's tail wraps itself around Traag's neck and whips him against the stone cavern walls. Leatherhead holds Traag's limp body with his tail and says he has another admission to make.

Ouch. R.I.P Traag....

My opinions-

Well... what can I say? We kinda knew it was Leatherhead from the start. It probably woulda been more of a plot twist if Traag and Granitor really did storm the area and kill the Utroms, or maybe Bishop and his SWAT team could have found them... but nope. It was Leatherhead. Fugitoid saying 'You...' last issue before being reduced to scrap would have been a bigger mystery had it not been Leatherhead, but yep, it was him. I was surprised they didn't do the cliche' that Fugitoid wakes up just in time to tell the heroes that it was Leatherhead just at the same time as he starts lashing out against Leo and Raph.

On other things, we have the mystery of the Utroms wanting to awaken Ch'Rell. It was kinda clear that Fugitoid knew this guy was bad news and should be left alone... so it does make these Utroms sound suspicious if they want to wake him up. Again, for now Shredder is dead, so it kinda leaves the door open for Ch'Rell to become the new Shredder if they choose to follow that route.

I am very surprised that Leo pulled his blade on Traag's eye. Yeah I know, it's an intimidation tactic, but due to them being angry at the Stone Warriors for thinking they killed the Utroms... I kinda think that if Traag tried to pull a fast one, he would have ended up missing an eye. Kinda looks like the Turtles are getting more and more battle-hardened.

Finally, that giant Mouser reminded me of the Mother Mouser from TMNT III Manhattan Project. Or it could also be a reference to the giant mouser in the first 2K3 TMNT game for the XBox and PS2. But it does resemble Mother Mouser more.

Let's see what happens next issue.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
