Free Comic Book Day 2026 Comic Book Stash 5/2/2026

 By Mark Rodriguez

This time the haul was so huge, we're gonna split this up between what we got as part of the Free Comic Book Day, the regular pullbox stuff and the extra comics we got through our travels for free comics. This year we went for some new stores, so we discovered Richmond Comix and Black Dog Comics. When it comes to the Free Comic Book Day related comics, this is probably the most we've gotten.

Street Fighter Forever # 0- Ryu faces opponents from past, present and future.

MegaMan Showdown Special # 1- It's Protoman VS Bass! This was the only one that wasn't at Third Eye Comics, but we were able to snag a copy at Richmond Comix. But wow, the place was super busy and there a long line to get into this extra room in the back where they were keeping the Free Comic Book Day issues.

Masters of the Universe/Dungeons & Dragons-  This seems to be closer to the original action figure line than the current comic continuities. It's fitting since the new live-action He-Man movie is around the corner. I'm curious about the D&D portion though since that can come in many forms and I doubt it'll be based on the 80's cartoon.

World of Archie # 1- We waited in such a long line for that MegaMan comic we didn't want to be there just for that one comic. Might as well grab Archie and see what's up in the town of Riverdale.

X-Men 97 # 1- A leftover from last year's Trick or Read. Wendy snagged herself a copy from Alpha Comics and games.

X-Men 97 # 1 Review

The British are Coming- A comic book version of historic events. We also grabbed this at Richmond Comix.

Unscrolled # 1- Based on a popular webtoon. Wendy grabbed this at Alpha Comics and Games.

School Bus Graveyard- We also found this at Alpha Games Comics and Games. It's based on a webtoon and we ran into a fan of the series that absolutely loved it and recommended this to us. Might as well check it out.

Avengers Armageddon- Another year, another big Marvel event. The set up starts here.

The Amazing Spider-Man- Queen in Black- It looks like Knull has been replaced. Spider-Man and Venom must team up again to stop this new symbiote-level threat.

Power Rangers # 0- Wendy grabbed this one at Alpha Comics and games.

Gun Honey Doubles Down- Grabbed this one at Richmond Comix. For some reason the cover grabbed our attention. Not sure exactly what.

The Name She Lost- Inanna- Looked interesting. Grabbed this one at Third Eye Comics. She looks like an Amazon from Themyscira, but this isn't a DC comic.

Jem # 1- This was Wendy's main pic for this year's Free Comic Book Day. Is Jem still truly truly outrageous after all these years?

So we got every comic we wanted for Free Comic Book Day, the main three we were looking for being Street Fighter, Megaman and Jem, and some others. Third Eye Comics had what they call 'Free Comic Book Month' where you come back every Saturday in May for a free comic of different themes. The first time is already coming in for Free Comic Book Day. The following themes will be Marvel, Sci-Fi and Fantasy and DC. If you go all 4 weeks and bring back the form all checkmarked, you can choose from one of several graphic novels for free.

Another thing was that we saw a random Spider-Man cosplayer in Third Eye, and sure enough he was checking out the Spider-Man section of the store. It reminded me of my days at Bent Wookee where we got to see a guy dressed as Spider-Man that would show up every year.

We also saw several tents outside of Richmond Comix selling all sorts of arts and crafts. I got Wendy some cool Hello Kitty keychains. We also got freshly made brownies and lemon pound cake that was near the register at Richmond Comix. Alpha Comics also had a sidewalk sale, which we never seen before (at Alpha anyway) with  boxes full of dollar comics. They also gave us a goodie bag which not only held your comics but included random Sonic the Hedgehog keychains. I got a Metal Sonic one and Wendy got an Amy Rose one. It was a busy day and there are still many more comics to come!

AEW Women's Tag Team Cup Tournament The Deadly Draw- Final Match

By Mark Rodriguez Alright guys, so this is the final match between the Women's Tag Tournament, the Deadly Draw meaning that teams were made at random depending on what color chips they would select out of a drawing. The final match was between the Nightmare Sisters, Brandi Rhodes and Allie against the team of Ivelisse and Diamante, and it was shown Saturday, rather than Wednesday due to the NBA Play-Offs. The Match- The Nightmare Sisters (with Dustin & QT Marshall) VS Diamante & Ivelisse Due to the time constraints, the NBA game finished a half hour later than expected and the TNT Championship match was following this, so there wasn't time for a lot of shenanigans. Things started between Ivelisse and Brandi who started off with an exchange of armlocks and headlocks. Ivelisse tags Diamante in and after both ladies kicked her down and picked her up for a double slam. Brandi managed to tag Allie in who would quickly kick Diamante down. Diamante gets Allie in an armbar and...

SNK VS Capcom Chaos Volume 1

By Mark Rodriguez We'll be seeing a few crossovers this month, and we're gonna start with one based on a crossover videogame. If you think the Malibu SF comic series was kinda sloppy, this one was literally all action, pin ups and splash pages, and what little story in it is just plain weird. I'm talking about the SNK VS Capcom Chaos comics made by Happy Comics, translated by Japan and produced with supervision from both SNK Playmore and Capcom. But first a brief explanation on the game this was inspired from. In 2000, Capcom produced Capcom VS SNK Millenium Fight 2000 which would throw the fighters of Capcom and SNK at each other. Unfortunately, aside from Morrigan from Darkstalkers and Nakoruru from Samurai Shodown, the game felt more like Street Fighter VS King of Fighters. Capcom later made Capcom VS SNK 2 Mark of the Millenium with even more characters and variety as well as different modes of play. SNK made their own game, SNK VS Capcom Chaos and it offered a bit more...

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi...
