Comic Book Stash 5/16/2026

 By Mark Rodriguez

We returned to Third Eye for the next week of their Free Comic Book Month. This time the theme was sci-fi and fantasy where we got to choose between a sci-fi book and a fantasy book. Since I went with Wendy, we got 'em both. We also got our regular pullbox goodies and some comics in the mail.

Spider-Man/Venom Death Spiral Body Count # 1- Now that the Death Spiral story is over, we get a one-shot about Torment's origin story.

Barbara Gordon- Breakout # 1- In a recent Batman issue, Babs got caught and she denounced the Bat-Family. Now under lock up, was all of this part of her plan?

Black Cat # 10- Felicia is teaming up with Venom once again. Unlike other Marvel comics these days that seem to end in ten issues... there is an issue 11 (and 12) coming!

King Spawn # 50- This was the free Fantasy book that we picked up.

Planet Death # 0- This was the free Sci-Fi book that we got. This one stands out because it's printed in newsprint paper. Even the cover feels like newsprint rather than the glossy pages we usually get.

Action Comics # 738- The adventures of Superman Blue continue as Lois deals with his new powers.

Spawn/Batman- An awesome crossover between the Dark Knight and the Hellspawn?

That was the haul for now. Thanks to Free Comic Book Month, we'll be grabbing smaller hauls rather than table-covering stacks of comics. This time around there seems to be some slim pickings. Last year we could pick from several items spread across a table. Now we only get 2-3 books to choose from. There are several Third Eye Comic shops so we're not sure if it's just shop with such limited supply.

I have to say... there were sure a lot of extra Batman Hush 2 copies they were trying to get rid of last year. Now that I got a better look.. they were also pushing a lot of copies of Planet Death too. One more thing we picked up along the way between comics and groceries, were these cool My Hero Academia figures we picked up. Buy one, pay half off for the second one. So we grabbed Ochacp and Tsuyu came along for the ride!

AEW Women's Tag Team Cup Tournament The Deadly Draw- Final Match

By Mark Rodriguez Alright guys, so this is the final match between the Women's Tag Tournament, the Deadly Draw meaning that teams were made at random depending on what color chips they would select out of a drawing. The final match was between the Nightmare Sisters, Brandi Rhodes and Allie against the team of Ivelisse and Diamante, and it was shown Saturday, rather than Wednesday due to the NBA Play-Offs. The Match- The Nightmare Sisters (with Dustin & QT Marshall) VS Diamante & Ivelisse Due to the time constraints, the NBA game finished a half hour later than expected and the TNT Championship match was following this, so there wasn't time for a lot of shenanigans. Things started between Ivelisse and Brandi who started off with an exchange of armlocks and headlocks. Ivelisse tags Diamante in and after both ladies kicked her down and picked her up for a double slam. Brandi managed to tag Allie in who would quickly kick Diamante down. Diamante gets Allie in an armbar and...

SNK VS Capcom Chaos Volume 1

By Mark Rodriguez We'll be seeing a few crossovers this month, and we're gonna start with one based on a crossover videogame. If you think the Malibu SF comic series was kinda sloppy, this one was literally all action, pin ups and splash pages, and what little story in it is just plain weird. I'm talking about the SNK VS Capcom Chaos comics made by Happy Comics, translated by Japan and produced with supervision from both SNK Playmore and Capcom. But first a brief explanation on the game this was inspired from. In 2000, Capcom produced Capcom VS SNK Millenium Fight 2000 which would throw the fighters of Capcom and SNK at each other. Unfortunately, aside from Morrigan from Darkstalkers and Nakoruru from Samurai Shodown, the game felt more like Street Fighter VS King of Fighters. Capcom later made Capcom VS SNK 2 Mark of the Millenium with even more characters and variety as well as different modes of play. SNK made their own game, SNK VS Capcom Chaos and it offered a bit more...

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi...
