Free Comic Book Day 2018 Avengers- Earth's Mightiest Heroes

By Mark Rodriguez

One of the cool things about Free Comic Book Day is that it always hits close to the release of some big comic book movie. Previous Free Comic Book Days have hit close to the release of movies like Captain America Civil War, Amazing Spider-Man 2 and the original Avengers. This time it hit just in time for Avengers Infinity War so naturally we'll have an Avengers comic book to tie in to that success.

The story begins with the Black Panther being summoned to Old Asgard by Odin himself. T'Challa has never met Odin before, but the Allfather has met several generations of Black Panthers. He explained how Mangog attacked several Asgardians but what it coming is even worse. Millions of years ago, Odin alongside the Black Panther of that era and other powerful beings killed a Celestial that went mad. While they had won, Odin feared someone even worse would eventually return for vengeance.

The Celestial was buried beneath Africa and T'Challa wants to deal with this. Odin tells him it's too late. The other day Loki came to visit him and reveals that he has revived the fallen Celestial.

Odin asks Black Panther to kill his son, something he could never bring himself to do. Black Panther will do what he must to save the world, even if it involves killing Loki to do it, but he tells him that the King of Wakanda is not a hired assassin. Odin tells him that he won't be able to save the world, and they won't be able to stop The Final Host, no matter who he recruits to help. T'Challa leaves saying that they will see.

Later in Manhattan, Steve Rogers and Thor ponder wether they should call Tony, since he recently recovered from the coma he fell under in the aftermath of Civil War 2. They decide to call him and tell him they need help.

Later on, we see Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Ghost Rider, She-Hulk, Dr. Strange and Captain Marvel ready to face what is about to come.

Captain America

The rest of the comic is a monologue by a female scientist as she discusses how Captain America back during World World 2 was good because America was good. He was right because America was right. But she wonder if this holds true with how divided the country is nowadays. Her plan involves creating lots of Super Soldier clones, basically strong guys with the American flag tattooed on their face as they head out to try to take down Captain America. She wants to prove that they are right not because they're good but because they are strong.

My Opinions

Such an interesting set up. It also seems that Iron Man is back in action, Thor has become worthy again and Captain America stopped being a member of HYDRA. It also looks like Ghost Rider got himself a new costume. Good art, and I also like the fact that like many times before, and even the movies, Loki causes some sort of trouble that gets all the heroes to unite to stop him. I hope to pick this one up too.

The Captain America story was weird though. I don't know if it's also part of an actual comic... but it really look like a long trailer for whatever is to come in Cap's own book.

I do find it interesting that even with decades of comic book lore, T'Challa has never met Odin until now though.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
