AEW Dark Women's Matches- February 22, 2022 (Episode 131)/NWA Powerrr S7E9

 By Mark Rodriguez

We only get one women's match on Dark this week as Skye Blue leaps into action. Luckily we also have NWA tonight as Chelsea Greene sees some action.

AEW Dark Match 1- Ruthie Jay vs Skye Blue

Skye gets Ruthie in a side headlock, until Ruthie elbows her way out of it and shoves her towards the ropes. Skye bounces back and knocks her down with a shoulder tackle. Both girls show off their athletic skills to avoid each other trying to trip the other up until Skye manages to roll Ruthie along the mat and knee her in the face. Skye tries to set Ruthie up for something, but Ruthie knees her in the face and knocks her down with a dropkick.

Skye is up against the ropes and Ruthie goes over to kick her and plant her boot on her neck. Ruthie runs towards Skye, but is cut short by a shoulder block. Skye goes over to another turnbuckle and kicks Ruthie back when she tries to run towards her. Ruthie ducks a punch from Skye and grabs her waist. Skye reverses the waist lock and bodyslams her, going for the pin. Ruthie kicks out.

Both women run at each other and Skye manages to slam Ruthie onto the mat. Skye hits her with a dropkick that sets her up against the ringpost. Skye runs at her but Ruthie flips her over the ropes and onto the apron. Ruthie poses to the crowd thinking she tossed Skye out of the ring altogether and not just onto the apron and gets kicked in the face when she turns around.

Skye climbs the ropes and flattens Ruthie with a flying crossbody. She then does a vicious superkick to the face. Skye grabs Ruthie and hits her with a Flatliner. She pins her and wins the match.

NWA Match 1- Chelsea Green faces off against Kenzie Paige

Both women fight over control but Kenzie gets Chelsea in a headlock and takes her down. Chelsea pushes her back and gets her into a headscissors until Kenzie kicks out of it. Kenzie trips her down and goes for a quick pin but Chelsea kicks out. Chelsea quickly trips her down and tries for her own pin but couldn't get past the two count. Kenzie gets Chelsea in a crucifix pin but couldn't keep her down. Both women try to pin each other in a seesaw series of events until they finally break away. Chelsea angrily socks her in the face for her trouble.

Kenzie manages to kicks Chelsea in the stomach, throw a chop at her and fling her towards the ropes where she gets her with a running elbow. With Chelsea rocked, Kenzie slams her with an Exploder Suplex. Kenzie gets fired up and goes for the ropes. As Chelsea is still dazed, Ruthie sends her rolling across the ring with a dropkick off the ropes. Despite this, Chelsea still kicks out of a pinfall attempt and then gets out of the ring to regain her bearings.

Chelsea tries to call for a timeout. Kenzie runs at her for a Suicide Dive attempt but Chelsea grabs her boot and pulls her out of the ring. With Kenzie down and out, Chelsea calls for time-in so the ref can start counting. Kenzie manages to get back into the ring in time and Chelsea picks her up and drops her onto the ropes. She then thrust kicks her down to the mat. Chelsea tries for the pin but Kenzie still kicks out. Chelsea throws Kenzie to the mat and starts punching all over her back until the ref break it up.

Chelsea chokes Kenzie against the ropes and then brings her back to the ring. There she knocks her down with 2 short-arm clotheslines in a row. After two failed pin attempts, Chelsea starts losing her patience and gets Kenzie into a chinlock. Kenzie tries to fight her way back to her feet but Chelsea slams her back down, applying more pressure to her chin. Kenzie manages to elbow her way out of this but Chelsea grabs her and slams her with a German Suplex.

Chelsea and Kenzie run at each other, trading shots. Both women hit each other with a headbutt at the same time, making each other drop to the mat. Both women struggle to get up, hitting each other with punches and chops. Kenzie clocks Chelsea with a boot to the jaw, knocking her down. Kenzie goes for the pin and Chelsea kicks out at the last second.

Kenzie tries to get Chelsea in a Small Package Piledriver but Chelsea fights her way out of it. Kenzie angrily slaps her across the face, sending Chelsea to the ropes. Kenzie runs at her but Chelsea catches her and slams her face into the turnbuckle. She grabs her and slams her face into it again and goes for a pin. Kenzie kicks out and Chelsea is furious she couldn't keep her down.

Kenzie manages to get Chelsea in the Kenzie Cutter and goes for the pin. Chelsea gets her foot on the ropes so she escapes the 3-count. Chelsea grabs her face, calling for a timeout. The moment Kenzie turns her back, Chelsea grabs her and slams her. This time she able to pin for the 3-count and wins the match.

NWA Match 2- Kamille VS Taryn Terrell

Kamille is unamused by Taryn's silly antics, especially when she tried to wear the belt before the match started. As the bell rings, Kamille heads right for Taryn, who tries to stop her and suggests they do a test of strength. Kamille grabs her arm and twists her wrist. Taryn shows her muscles and sets both hands up for a test of strength. This time Kamille humors her but quickly overpowers her the moment they lock up. Taryn asks for her water cup and the ref actually grabs and hands it over to her. After Taryn takes a sip, Kamille runs into her and slams her against the turnbuckle, having enough of her nonsense.

Kamille runs again but this time Taryn moves out of the way so she hits the turnbuckle. Taryn climbs the ropes trying to monkey flip off her but Kamille picks her up. Kamille violently drops her with a Fishermen Suplex. Kamille grabs her and shoves her into the turnbuckle as Taryn collapses from the impact. The NWA Woman's Champ grabs Taryn and flings her to the turnbuckle on the other side of the ring, making her bounce off it and hit the mat. Taryn is then subjected to yet another powerful suplex. The Brickhouse grabs Taryn and send her down with a punch to the face. She picks her up again and delivers another punch.

Taryn crawls over to the ropes, begging for anyone to help her. The champ plants her knee onto the back of her head, choking her against the ropes. Taryn crawls over to her water bottle but gets grabbed by Kamille who picks her up and slams her down onto a Backbreaker. Kamille gets her up against the ropes, wrapping her arms around them so she can start throwing blows to her chest until the ref stops it. She grabs Taryn and tosses a hammer punch, making her collapse onto the mat.

Kamille gets Taryn in a painful looking neck wrench. Taryn is able to grab onto Kamille and hit her with a jawbreaker. With Kamille actually in pain, Taryn takes to the ropes and tries a crossbody splash, but is caught in the champ's deadly arms. Kamille drops her with a Fallaway Slam. Taryn crawls over and gets a sip from her water cup but Kamille pulls her back into the fight.

The champ grabs Taryn's legs and starts stomping on her mid-section. She picks her and floors her with an uppercut. Taryn is up against the ringpost and drinks more water. Kamille kicks her in the gut that makes her spit the water in her face. With Kamille distracted, Taryn takes her chance to get her down and go for a pin, but couldn't get the victory. She tries for another pin that also fails. Kamille goes for a thrust kick that Taryn ducks under and she manages to grab her and slam her onto the mat by the back of the head.

With the champ finally down, Taryn starts stomping on her and tries to pin her again, being unsuccessful. Taryn manages to send Kamille running towards the ropes, but the Brickhouse is able to grab her and slam her face into the mat. Both women struggle to get back up. Taryn goes for a kick, but Kamille catches her leg and slams her down. Kamille grabs Taryn and send her face-first into the turnbuckle and starts kicking her. As she grabs her again, Taryn manages to knee her in the side. She takes this chance to slam Kamille down with a Flying Neckbreaker, but still can't get the pinfall.

Taryn angrily slams Kamille's face into the mat and then grabs her into her variation of the Camel Clutch called the Thirst Trap. Kamille is able to power herself back to her feet, with Taryn still hanging off her. Kamiile grabs Taryn and throws her off her. Taryn runs and grabs Kamille for a Cutter but doesn't send her down. As Taryn is recovering, Kamille is getting ready to hit her with The Spear. Kamille lands The Spear and pins Taryn to win the match and retain her title.

My Opinions-

The AEW match was pretty good, this is the most I got to see of Skye Blue in action instead of being part of a Trios Match. She's a cheerful high flyer and she got some nasty kicks. It's good to see her score some wins. And hey, I wouldn't mind seeing a match between her and AQA someday.

Chelsea Greene is definitely a vicious one and it's also cool to see her in action. Based on the commentary it sounds like she comes in both as her regular self of her Hot Mess persona, but even her regular self has a mean streak. It was a decent match.

The title match was entertaining. Taryn is noisy and annoying so it's fun to see Kamille throw her around. It's also comical how Taryn spat water in her voice, not on purpose, but because Kamille happened to kick her in the gut while she had a mouth full of water. Things got interesting now that Taryn got some offense in and it actually got kinda close there sometimes. Pretty much match pitting a comical wrestler against a more serious no-nonsense wrestler. Kamille is just a brickhouse bad-ass.

I'm not sure I like the idea of the NWA Women's Title having a picture of the champ in it, looks kinda tacky. It looks like it's been going on for a while. It might grow on me.

Overall awesome matches. It seems whenever either Dark or Dark Elevation has 3-4 women's matches the other show only has 1. It's shame since some of them are worth seeing wrestler more than once a week.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
