AEW Dark Elevation Episode 86- 10/24/2022 (Women's Matches)

 By Mark Rodriguez

We get a fun pair of matches tonight. Serena Deeb reminds her opponents why it's not smart to underestimate her and Emi brings in one of her protégés as her tag team partner. Mei Suruga will be in action tonight.

Match 1- "The Professor" Serena Deeb vs Haley J

As both woman square up, Deeb actually leans over and allows Haley to put her in a headlock. Once Haley got too confident, Deeb reversed this into a side headlock of her own. Haley shoves her towards the ropes but Deeb bounces off them and knocks her down with a shoulder tackle.

Deebs gets into position for a Test of Strength, and when Haley grabs onto her, she gets thrown to the mat and trapped in a wrist lock. Haley gets up and tries to cartwheel out of the hold. She then yanks Deeb's arm and gets her in an arm drag takedown.

Haley shoves Deeb towards the ropes and hits her with an elbow strike. She then flings Deeb towards the ropes, hoping to hit her with a dropkick as she bounces back. Deeb grabs onto the ropes to stop her momentum and Haley just drops to the mat, missing her mark.

Deeb grabs her leg and lands with an elbow drop upon her ankle. She then grabs Haley and plants her with a spinning neckbreaker. Deeb poses for the crowd and gets Haley in the Serenity Lock, making her tap out. Serena Deeb wins the match.

Match 2- Nikki Victory & Jaylee vs Emi Sakura & Mei Suruga

The match starts with Jaylee going in to shake Emi's hand, but The Queen ignores her. As Jaylee was distracted by this, Mei comes in and attacks her from behind. Mei grabs herby the hair and tosses her across the ring, much like her mentor does. Emi then grabs Jaylee by the hair and shows her protégé how it's done, also flipping her across the ring.

Emi holds onto Jaylee and as Nikki rushes in to help her partner, Mei grabs her too. Emi and Mei both sit on their opponents and enjoy some tea time.

I would have loved to have seen Riho or Hikaru Shida also partake in some tea time. Imagine what a stable all 4 women would be

Emi starts kicking Jaylee around as Mei leaves the ring, taking Nikki with her. Emi claps her hands over Jaylee's face and then goes over to tag in her protégé. Mei runs over and stomps on Jaylee's back as she's trying to get up. With Jaylee flat on the mat, Mei leaps onto the middle rope and propels herself towards her with a dropkick to the ribs.

Mei folds up Jaylee's legs around one of her own. She then strikes a pose before bending backwards towards her to hook onto her arms. Jaylee screams in pain and Mei lets her go but starts slapping her around and taunting her. Mei stands back up again and kicks her opponent around.

Jaylee gets up and tries to punch her, but Mei grabs her arm and bites into her wrist. Jaylee manages to grab her in a Jawbreaker, which buys her enough time to tag in Nikki Victory. Emi also gets tagged in and both women run towards each other. Nikki starts laying on the elbow strikes, getting Emi up against the ropes. She turns to pose to the crowd but before Emi can do anything, Nikki plants her back against the ropes with a dropkick.

Nikki grabs Emi, getting ready for a suplex, but Emi reverses it into a spinning neckbreaker. With Nikki up against the ropes, Emi starts doing the Queen chops to the tune of 'We Will Rock You'. Emi then runs into her with the crossbody splash, making her drop to the mat like a sack of potatoes. Emi gets her in the Double Underhook Backbreaker and goes for the pin. Jaylee stomps on Emi to break the pin.

Mei runs in to attack Jaylee. Jaylee swings Mei into the ropes, hoping to hit her on the way back, but Mei does a cartwheel to avoid her attack. She then flattens Jaylee with a running crossbody splash. Emi gets both opponents lined up and Mei runs towards the ropes. Mei leaps onto Emi's shoulders and they both do a pose before launching their Transbomber attack. Mei slams herself onto Jaylee which catapults Emi to land onto Nikki.

Emi climbs to the ropes and does a Moonsault, landing on Nikki and going for the pin. Emi Sakura and Mei Suruga score the win.

My Thoughts-

Pretty good show tonight, especially with the tag team of Emi Sakura and Mei Suruga. I've heard a lot of people being excited about her coming on Dark and it's only fitting she forms a team with her mentor. Mei showed off that amazing backwards bridge move and great athleticism, but it was funny seeing her partake in some of Emi's shenanigans. Love that Transbomber move, perfect camera angles to really show how they slammed into both of their opponents one at a time. Not only do I want to see Emi on TV, but now I almost want a stable of Hikaru, Riho and Mei all led by Emi Sakura.

The Deeb match was pretty decent as well. I like how she's so arrogant as to literally stick her neck out for her opponent to get the upperhand. Naturally, Deeb is able to quickly turn the tables on you. Poor Haley never stood a chance.

It's a fun couple of matches. Here's hoping we see more of Mei Suruga.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
