The Justice League is dead, and their evil stand-ins, the Crime Syndicate from an alternate Earth of jerks and douchebags are taking over, letting evil reign. While most bad guys love a world without heroes, some villains know that the world is going to hell and something has to be done to stop it. Lex Luthor, Bizzaro, Captain Cold, Black Manta and Black Adam team up to do something about this. Meanwhile Batman and Catwoman barely survived the attack and brought back what was left of Cyborg. Is there time to save him?
'Hide and Seek' begins with Batman leading a blindfolded Catwoman someplace, while she admits having imagined herself doing something else with Batman while blindfolded. Of course, this is the Batcave as we see the New52 Catwoman's first look at Batman's bachelor pad. Batman says with the Syndicate checking on everything, the Batmobiles (yes, plural) are useless so they'll need a new mode of transportation. Catwoman says they're basically the last man and woman in the world now and all he talks about is 'the plan'. Batman says everyone who gets close to him is in danger, even if he rescues Nightwing, his life as Dirck Grayson is over. Selina says as long as he never forced him to become Nightwing, it's not his fault. Batman explains that he trained Dick to become Robin, and eventually he became Nightwing, so he is blaming himself.
Batman shows Catwoman his own set of Contigency Plans in case the Justice League ever went evil (Tower of Babel/Justice League Doom). He has a Kryptonite ring for Superman, a Siniestro Corps ring to use against Green Lantern, a rod from the future to stop Flash and a Mother Box that might take down Cyborg. He says Aquaman didn't survive, and the Wonder Woman box is empty. He'll have to improvise against Superwoman and Atomica, as well as Owlman. As they talk, they are being watched by Grid's computers.
Elsewhere in Metropolis, Luthor is trying to blast Black Adam back to life. Cold is building a new Cold Gun. Luthor explains to the others that Ultraman's biology is the reverse of Superman. He's been consuming Kryptonite and avoiding sunlight. Black Adam gets up and says he'll kill Ultraman. Cold says they're back in business, but Luthor says not yet.
In the Utah Salt Flats, Metallo is terrorizing the area since General Lane was the one that removed his heart. Ultraman appears and yanks the Kryptonite heart right out of him, taking him out.
Superwoman appears
and says he never saw Ultraman so weak. She asks how much more
Kryptonite he plans to eat before his supply runs out. He says he has
enough to be ready for whenever the alien being that destroys their
world returns. Ultraman then hears a heartbeat and asks Superwoman when
she was going to tell him that she was pregnant.
Superwoman says she was waiting for them to be alone to tell him. She also wants to warn him that she overheard Owlman's conversation with Nightwing and plans to betray them. She asks him to stay strong for their baby. He says he only stays strong for himself.
Meanwhile in Central City, Deathstorm is upset that Power Ring blasting the mirror that the Rogues tried to escape from have them wandering all over random mirror dimensions, making them impossible to find. Power Ring is panicking since his ring is now demanding to be recharged. Ultraman contacts them and orders Deathstorm to find out Firestorm's formula to transmute objects to create more Kryptonite for him, and to leave Power Ring to face the Rogues alone. Power Ring doesn't want to be left alone with the ring needing to be recharged. Deathstorm flies off and tells him to have him ring make him 'grow a pair'.
Power Ring calls Grid telling him that Ultraman requested back-up and wants Johnny Quick and Atomica sent over to him. Grid says they're busy fighting the Doom Patrol. Power Ring says then he'll have to come over, but Grid is busy. Grid says he has sent someone over to help him, and then continues to spy on Batman and Catwoman.
Meanwhile Luthor's gang sneak around the sewers, trying to gain the element of surprise. Bizzaro seems to be afraid of the dark. Black Manta found an underwater passage, and Luthor tries to get Bizzaro to join them. Luthor makes sure everyone is gone, and tells Bizzaro the tale of how he lost his sister since he was too afraid to try to save her. From them on, he says he isn't afraid of failure and to try. Bizzaro finally call himself as by his name and says he will try.
They arrive underneath Wayne Enterprises, and Bizzaro and Black Adam smash through the roof. They find Batman and Catwoman, with one of the Mother Boxes. Cold asks if Batman is still alive, then maybe so is Superman. Power Ring arrives with Deathstroke with other villians. He's surprised to see Batman alive and tries to kill him quick. Batman puts on the Siniestro Ring becoming a Yellow Lantern Batman to attack Power Ring.
Power Ring though, is able to defeat him and crush the yellow ring with his bare hands. He says that the yellow ring can't hurt him. Just then he gets blasted by yellow energy. Siniestro has arrived, and he says he begs to differ with Power Ring's last statement.
My Opinions-
Another misleading cover. LOL Yeah, Batman and Luthor got to see each other face to face... but they didn't exactly throw down. Maybe they would have, if Power Ring didn't suddenly burst into the scene. Now we have the curtains ready for Siniestro VS Power Ring. I think this is the end of the poor guy. I really do feel sorry for him. I assume he's as much of a jerk as everyone else since he comes from The Planet of the Evil, but it seems everything he does is to stop the horrible pain his ring is giving him. It's rotting his damn arm away for pete's sake. And the way he's afraid of being alone when the ring needs to recharge.... just what does that ring do when it needs to recharge....? Might be why his arm is rotting away...
I'm surprised Luthor took the time out to give Bizzaro an emotional speech and was that actual emotion in his eyes when Bizzaro decided to face his fear of the dark? Luthor might see himself as a father figure. Despite everything he still wants to be the one to save the day. When Cold asked is Superman might be alive, on account of seeing Batman alive, Lex was like 'no he's dead, he has to be!', as if he doesn't want Supes to swoop in and save the day and get all the credit for himself. At the end of the day, Lex would have saved the world and Superman would not be able to take the spotlight.
Anyways, I'm surprised the New 52 is using Forever Evil to introduce so many things now. We've been introduced to Bizzaro, and we saw the origin of Plasticman, and now we see Batman's Contigency Plans against the Justice League, like we saw in the Tower of Babel story line. I wonder what other things they'll toss into this before they're done. Let's hope we actually SEE Siniestro and Power Ring fight, though I have a feeling Power Ring is gonna be the first member of the Crime Syndicate to be taken out.

oh god, you think the new 52 would have given Metallo a more bad-ass design |
