Sonic the Hedgehog # 248- Worlds Collide Part 3

By Mark Rodriguez

Last time Wiley and Eggman met up and joined forces and used the Genesis Wave to warp reality to their liking. Together they captured all of Sonic's friends and turned them into Roboticized Masters. They also arranged it so that Metal Sonic and Cobybot tricked Sonic and Megaman into fighting each other. Now the mad scientists watch and dance as the blue heroes duke it out.

The issue opens in the Green Hill Zone with Megaman trying to shoot Sonic as the hedgehog zips all over the place. Sonic brags about how many robots he's destroyed and trips Megaman down. He tells Megaman that he won't smash him if he tells him where his friends are, and Megaman tries to shoot him away. The Blue Bomber is confused and figures Sonic must be one of Wiley's robots that must have turned against him. Sonic stomps on one of the floating platforms and sends it crashing down, and Megaman jumps out of the way. Sonic continues to run around while dodging Megaman's blasts.

Wiley and Eggman watch and brag about which one of their enemies can do the other in. The Roboticized Masters come in and hand them the Chaos Emerald they acquired. With only one left to put into place, the scientists decide to wait until their other team brings it so they can both put the emeralds in together.... but after they're done watching the good guys clobber each other.

Sonic hides behind one of the loop-the-loops and thinks about how powerful Megaman seems to be. Megaman is confused as to how fast Sonic is, being even faster than Quickman and Nitroman. They both think they won't be able to win. Sonic figures he can win by taking advantage of knowing the Zone they're in. He zips all over the place and Sonic Spin Dashes into Megaman, knocking him down. Megaman then punches him off him and says it's time to stop pulling his punches.

In Megaman's world, Dr. Light and Roll are worried about what happened to Megaman. Protoman arrives and gives them some readings he took from the portal Megaman jumped into. Roll talks him into staying long enough for her to help fix him up. Dr. Light and Duo check on the readings and see that the ring portal has something to do with the sudden cases of amnesia all over the city as this could involve something strange happening to space and time. Dr. Light replicates the signal and the ring portal appears in front of Megaman and Sonic.

Megaman sees the portal which distracts him long enough for Sonic to pull out a chip from his Arm Cannon. Now he's unable to shoot. Needing repairs badly, Megaman has to end this quickly and figures he can make the hedgehog come to him. Megaman makes a break for the portal and Sonic gives chase. As he runs into him, Megaman catches him and they're both knocked through the portal.

Aboard the Wily Egg, the scientists see this and send Tails Man to follow through the portal before it closes. Wiley mentions 'Thomas' and Eggman asks about him. Wiley mentions that Thomas Light is Megaman's creator and could be a problem. Bass and Metal Sonic volunteer to trash Light's lab and teach him a lesson.

Sonic is now in Megaman's world and doesn't recognize the city he's in. Megaman thanks his dad and Sonic is confused by that statement. The Blue Bomber tells Sonic he's in his world now and calls for back-up. Rush, Beat, Tango and Eddie beam down and Megaman offers Sonic the chance to surrender.

My Opinions:

With the reason behind their fighting out of the way, this issue focused mostly on the blue heroes fighting it out. Or I guess, Sonic running around with Megaman trying to shoot him. Kinda sucky on Megaman's part, I don't think he shot Sonic once, but the hedgehog did smash into him a few times. I do have to say I'm surprised to see Megaman actually punching Sonic in the face. Even though both heroes are considered fighters, Megaman is all about shooting and Sonic just spin-dashes into everybody... so it's kinda rare to see either of them actually throw a punch. It was creative to see Sonic yank out the chip that makes Megaman shoot.

considering it's a big metal fist hitting him, Sonic sure can take a punch
I did like the little game references here and there. Sonic told Megaman 'we'll soon see if you got a bird or a pig in there' since in the classic Sonic games, these little animals pop out whenever you destroy one of the Badniks (of course, if it was that easy to free an animal from Roboticization.... couldn't Sonic just smash into Mecha Sally and have the real Sally pop out?). Wiley also makes a crack about Sonic being covered in spikes, which are a weakness to Megaman. Those that played the games know that spikes in the Megaman games are a one-hit kill no matter if he has full health or not.

Well the fight will continue on Megaman's turf. I guess we're going with the 'home field advantage' as Sonic has the upperhand in his own world, while Megaman has the high ground in his own world. Though one can argue that he's kinda cheating by bringing all of his pet sidekicks into this....

SNK VS Capcom Chaos Volume 1

By Mark Rodriguez We'll be seeing a few crossovers this month, and we're gonna start with one based on a crossover videogame. If you think the Malibu SF comic series was kinda sloppy, this one was literally all action, pin ups and splash pages, and what little story in it is just plain weird. I'm talking about the SNK VS Capcom Chaos comics made by Happy Comics, translated by Japan and produced with supervision from both SNK Playmore and Capcom. But first a brief explanation on the game this was inspired from. In 2000, Capcom produced Capcom VS SNK Millenium Fight 2000 which would throw the fighters of Capcom and SNK at each other. Unfortunately, aside from Morrigan from Darkstalkers and Nakoruru from Samurai Shodown, the game felt more like Street Fighter VS King of Fighters. Capcom later made Capcom VS SNK 2 Mark of the Millenium with even more characters and variety as well as different modes of play. SNK made their own game, SNK VS Capcom Chaos and it offered a bit more...

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi...

Goshawk and Falconet # 1 (heavy spoilers so beware!)

By Mark Rodriguez Brought to you by the same studios that brought you Arachna # 1 and 2, we get a brand new superhero duo, Goshawk and Falconet. Let's check it out. The story opens with Goshawk and Falconet soaring through the sky just above Santa Monica Bay. They fly towards a ship that is being robbed. Goshawk tells her to secure the cargo while he keeps the guards busy.  The robbers are working for a villain named Black Parrot. Goshawk lands between two of them and bashes their heads together. Just then a third man pulls a gun on him from behind. Goshawk retracts his wings which knocks the gun out of the man's hand. Goshawk knocks the guy out while Falconet kicks the guy protecting the cargo. Falconet uses one of her claws to pick the padlock and finds a room full of captured women. She assures them that they're alright now. On the lower decks, Black Parrot and a woman named Secretarybird think their mission is a success. With the harbormaster being bought and paid for ...
