Why Cell SHOULDN'T be in Dragonball Super- Super Hero

 By Mark Rodriguez

So the big rumor is that Cell will somehow be shoe-horned into the latest Dragonball Super movie especially since it's associated with the Red Ribbon Army, it deals with Androids and Gohan just might be the hero in the end. But should Cell actually be in this movie?

For general context and to bring people up to speed, Cell was an android created by Dr. Gero who worked in the Red Ribbon Army and became the final villain of the Future Trunks arc of Dragonball Z. He was created with the cells of Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Freeza and gained all of their techniques. He had to absorb Androids 17 and 18 to gain his Perfect Form, after which he held a pubilcally televised tournament called the Cell Games. If no one could defeat him, he woud destroy the world, so naturally Goku and the crew showed up to challenge him. The Cell Games eventually ended with a planet destroying Kame Hame Ha beam struggle between Cell and the newly formed Super Saiyan 2 Gohan. In this blast, Cell was completely vaporized and save a few cameos (Dragonball GT) and flashbacks, he was never seen again in the series.

Well, years later we got Resurrection F that would bring Freeza back to threaten a post-Buu Saga DBZ crew. How did he catch up with levels achieved after his death like Super Saiyan 3 and Super Saiyan God? He actually trained. Seeing that Freeza was already born ridiculously powerful as is, all it took was for him to actually train to improve to achieve a new form that could give the new Super Saiyan Blue form a fight. Freeza died at the end of this movie and arc, but his story didn't end there.

Cell was also a character that gained his strength by absorbing cities full of humans and finally Android 17 and 18. What if he actually trained for a few months? He has Freeza's cells after all.

What brought mentions of Cell back into the picture was the announcement that Freeza was going to come back again and take part in the Tournament of Power. Now while some people were excited over the prospect of Freeza actually being forced to side with the Dragon Team to fight for their universe.... there were a lot of people that were sick of Freeza and suggested things would have been more interesting if Cell was called up instead.

After the Tournament of Power, Whis gave Freeza back his life and he left warning them that he doesn't intend to change his ways. Sure enough, he was also in the Dragonball Super Broly movie where he orchestrated the fight between Broly, Goku and Vegeta. After the battle, Freeza pretty much got away, curses, foiled again. He is currently still alive in the series.

So it seems with many people already being fans of Cell before Super was a thing, as well as Freeza's constant return to the story, a lot of people really want Cell to come back. But how would he come back?

There are a lot of rumors surrounding Dragonall Super Super Hero claiming Cell will indeed be in this movie... somehow. Seeing as the Red Ribbon was creating more Androids in the form of Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, they just might have a rebuilt Cell lurking in hidden laboratory in their huge base. Maybe Gamma 1 and Gamma somehow fuse to become Cell. Maybe Gamma 1 is somehow a re-created Cell. Who knows?

The main reason I feel Cell should not be in this movie is I feel him coming back should be a bigger deal. Freeza and Broly got their own movies, and Cell is going to be stuck as some random twist reveal final boss fight in the last 20 or so minutes in the movie?

I just feel there's more to do with Cell. He was kinda full of himself, so how would he react finding out the world thinks that Mr. Satan took him down? Or how about the fact that Gohan grew up and got a family? Now he'll target Videl and Pan. Or now that Trunks is a bit older and looks closer to his future self, he has a huge Cell-shaped target on his back. Even Androids 17 and 18 will have to come to terms with the fact that Cell has returned. Not to mention all the cities full of people with memories of once being killed and devoured by Cell. There's a lot that can be done with Cell rather than sticking him into a 10 minute extended cameo.

I guess the only way this would work is if Gamma 1 is a rebuilt Cell and is just playing along with the hero persona, while Gamma 2 is possibly more loyal. It would be interesting to see clues like him seeming to be particularly angry at Gohan for some unknown reason, maybe even stalking his family on their day-to-day activities. If we do get something like a scene of Gamma 1 transforming into Cell's classic form, that would surely drive the theater audience wild. Depending on how it's handled, Gamma 1 being Cell all along could be either really awesome.... or really stupid and not the way I would have wanted him to come back at all.

I just feel someone like Cell deserves a longer story. At the time, Resurrection F looked like a one-and-done, but the movie pretty much hit the ground running and worked on bringing Freeza back right away. This movie will still have to introduce the new Red Ribbon, introduce Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, show that Goku and Vegeta are training with Broly, scenes with Pan and the older Trunks and Goten, all of this before we would even get to Cell's return, assuming there is one.

So I just feel that Cell's return, due to all his fanfare, should be a bigger deal. He deserves his own movie or his own min-arc. To be Just something more than a cameo in a movie only to be blown up again minutes after he made his appearance. Though, due to having Piccolo's cells, he is able to regenerate, so if a piece of him survives, the movie could possibly just establish that he's back and we can see him return in a bigger role down the line, similar to Freeza being in both the Tournament of Power and the Broly movie.

We'll see what happens when and if Cell will return in the new Dragonball Super movie. At least in Japan, the movie is now around the corner.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
