We got another action packed episode of Dark Elevation with 4 women's matches. We not only get to see the Renegade Twins in action but also the former champ Hikaru Shida as she works her way back up the ranks.
Match 1- Danni Bee vs Abadon
Danni runs at Abadon but is grabbed and flung towards the ropes. As she bounces off the ropes, Abadon knocks her down with a shoulder tackle. Danni rolls out of the ring to try to recovery but Abadon runs and dropkicks her, sending her to the floor. Abadon does a Rolling Senton off the ring apron, demolishing Danni. Abadon flings Danni back into the ring and is distracted by the crowd cheering her name.
As Abadon crawls towards her, Danni gets some offense in, hitting her with a kick followed by a jawbreaker. Abadon lets out a scream and Danni bounces off the ropes in an attempt to knock her down. The Living Dead Girl knocks Danni down instead with a lariat. Abadon lands on her with another Senton and finishes her off with the Black Dahlia. Abadon pins Danni and wins the match.
Before they lock up, Rache' calls for a time out of sorts and pulls out a comb. She works on one of Jamie's bangs, much to her annoyance. Jamie poses for the crowd, seemingly happy with her little touch-up and now Rache' offers her the comb so she can do her hair. Jamie is tried of playing along and knocks her down with an elbow.
Gotta love wrestling. |
Jamie gets on top of Rache' and starts throwing elbow strikes. Jamie poses and goes for a big swing but Rache' ducks under it and goes for a roll up pin. Jamie quickly escapes it. Rache' runs at her but Jamie grabs her in a choke slam back breaker. Jamie picks her up for a brain buster and goes for the pin. Jamie gets the pin and the win. She flicks her bangs, making fun of Rache' and Rebel comes in to celebrate her win alongside her.
Match 3- Madi Wrenkowski vs Hikaru Shida
Both women lock up and Madi gets Shida up against the turnbuckle and starts unloading with elbows. Shida picks up Madi and drops her on the turnbuckle. With her opponent still hanging off the turnbuckle, Shida runs across the apron to hit her face with a knee strike. As Madi is dazed, Shida grabs her and climbs on the turnbuckle. Shida slams Madi with a suplex off the ropes and goes for the pin. Madi kicks out.
Shida tries to lift Madi but she reverses it, grabbing the former AEW Woman's Champ by the hair and slamming her face-first into the mat. Madi runs towards the ropes, hoping to bounce back with a big kick but Shida moves out of the way. Shida hits her with an axe kick on the top of her head. Shida picks her up and slams her down with the Falcon Arrow and pins her. Hikaru Shida wins the match.
Match 4- Robyn & Charlette Renegade vs Ruby Soho & Anna Jay
Ruby and Charlette start locking up and Charlette slams her onto the mat. Ruby grabs her in a waistlock. Charlette tries to get her off her and Ruby slams her down with a headlock takedown. Charlette gets to her feet and shoves Ruby off her. Ruby manages to sock her in the face and Anna Jay gets tagged in and she nails Charlette with a flipping neckbreaker.
Anna Jay slams Charlette into the turnbuckle and then runs at her with a back kick. Anna Jay goes for the pin but Robyn breaks it up. Charlette flings Anna Jay towards the ropes and Robyn grabs onto her from the outside. With the ref distracted, Charlette manages to clock Anna Jay in the face. Robyn gets tagged in and the twins pick up Anna Jay, trying to slam her. Anna Jay fights her way out of it. As one of the Renegades tries to kick her, Anna Jay grabs her foot and swings it into her sister. Anna Jay socks the other one and goes to tag Ruby in. Anna Jay and Ruby grabs both of the twins and slam them down with flatliners.
My Opinions-
Pretty entertaining sets of matches. Abadon is always fun to watch, especially with how her opponents react to her. I liked the part where she reacted to the crowd cheering her name. Abadon is getting quite the fanbase.
The Jamie Hayter match was pretty much a squash but the part with Rache' wanting to comb her bangs and her pretending to play along for a while was classic wrestling cheese. I also liked how Hayter continued to mock her after she won. We do need to see more Jamie solo matches. She has a start with solo matches earlier in AEW but after she came back she's pretty much Britt Baker's enforcer. I'd like to see more Jamie (and some Rebel) solo matches.
Hikaru Shida is always fun to watch. She was the AEW Women's Champ before Britt Baker won the title and was taken out of commission by Sareena Deeb. Now she's back to make her way through the ranks and get another shot at Deeb. Madi Wrenkowski did what she could, but I knew there wasn't too much she could do against the former champ.
I finally see the Renegade Twins in the ring at the same time, though I couldn't tell them apart. Commentary seemed to be more on top of it this time, so luckily they helped. Ruby and Anna Jay continue to make a good team. The ending with the double flatliner and the combination of the No Future and Queen Slayer was pretty solid.
Overall a great show.
In other news, in the upcoming Ring of Honor Supercard PPV, we have two familiar faces. Willow Nightingale, who we've seen in Dark and Dark Elevation a few times, will be facing off against Mercedes Martinez in an Interim ROH Women's World Title Match. The winner will challenge the current ROH Women's Champ Deonna Purazzo at a later date.
This time I'll actually be checking out the ROH Supercard as we got a couple of familiar faces. Other than Willow and Mercedes, we'll also be seeing Wheeler Yuta, Jay Lethal and FTR so there'll be lots of fun to be had. For those following the Diving Cutter Wrestling Podcast, we will be covering this event.
