Spider-Man & Wolverine # 2 (Fight to the Death!)

By Mark Rodriguez

Spider-Man and Wolverine team up to track down the Janus Directory, which contains files of every known spy mission ever, to keep it from falling into the wrong hands. While fighting off the combined forces of Kraven the Hunter, Omega Red and Mysterio, Peter decides to look into his parents' final mission as spies. The files revealed that Logan, working for the Red Skull at the time, was the one that killed his parents. Now Spider-Man is seeing red and is out to kill Wolverine in cold-blooded revenge!!

"Spider-Man VS Wolverine" opens with Spider-Man socking Wolverine across the face yelling out that he killed his parents. Wolverine tries to explain but Spider-Man hits him again. He yells out that he saw Wolverine kill his parents. As flashbacks pass that show Logan attacking the Parkers in an airplane, Peter says he's going to kill him.

Wolverine says he doesn't want to hurt Peter and says he can't trust what he saw after all the mind games the villains have used against them. Peter kicks him back and says he saw the recording from the plane from the Janus Directory, and Mysterio was out cold the whole time.

Peter punches Wolverine through a wall, and then uses his webs to pull him towards him for another punch, Scorpion style. The flashbacks show that Logan sabotaged the plane and left the Parkers without parachutes. As the plane heads towards a mountain, the last thing they said was that Peter will be OK with Ben and May. The next images show Logan reporting back to the Red Skull. For years Peter knew the Red Skull had his parents killed, but he never knew Logan was working with him.

Logan explains that he was working as a double agent. Spider-Man explains the database lists every known undercover operative except for him. He adds that he knows that Logan's healing factor would have helped him easily survive a plane crash. Wolverine says his memory of those days aren't reliable, but he knows he was a bad guy back then and did a lot of things he wasn't proud of. Spider-Man says what he saw was real and punches Wolverine into a fuel tank, causing it to explode. Wolverine stands up among the flames and finally pops his claws.

Growling like a savage beast out of his mind with a broken jaw, Wolverine wildly flails towards Spider-Man. Spider-Man tosses several web shots to hold him back as Wolverine hacks them out of the air.

Spider-Man barely flips out of the way as Wolverine slices the back of his costume. Spider-Man uses his webs to keep from flying into a wall, but Wolverine tackles him. The berserker Wolverine uppercuts Spider-Man and then slams him to the ground. He grabs him by his now-torn costume and yanks him towards him.

Wolverine tosses him against a wall and Spider-Man ducks right before he can leap towards him. Wolverine plants his claws into a chunk of metal and smacks Spider-Man in the face with it. Peter lands on his feet. Wolverine pops his jaw into his place and snaps out of it. He tells Peter to stop. He says it can't be a coincidence that Peter saw that footage and whoever set this up wanted them both to come to blows. He says that Kraven mentioned he working for a group and not to fall in their hands.

Peter wants Logan to admit he didn't do it. Logan says he can't since his memories from back then can't be trusted. He only remembers a plane, a husband and wife, and the plane crashing. Spider-Man mutters that Wolverine really did do it.

Spider-Man yells in anger as he webs up Wolverine against a wall and starts wailing into him. Wolverine takes all the damage he can endure before finally losing his temper. He slices his way out of the webbing... and runs Spider-Man through with his claws.

My Thoughts-

Wow, talk about all killer, no filler. The whole issue was pretty much a Spider-Man beat-down upon Wolverine, even among all the flashbacks of the video footage that he saw.

A lot of comic book fans know that Spider-Man is always pulling his punches, so now completely lost in anger, he pretty much broke Wolverine's jaw. I am a bit confused how, considering he still has his adamantium skeleton which should include his skull and jawbone. Is Spider-Man really that strong when the training wheels come off?

Wolverine's memories (or lack of) make it hard for him to confirm or deny those events. He's not lying, he literally does not remember. It was left somewhat open ended. For all we know maybe we'll find out that SHIELD sent Logan to intercept some other assassin sent by Red Skull and things went South with the plane still crashing. The one that doesn't make sense when Logan was trying to rationalize that it was a set up, is the fact that whoever did this would have have to known that Wolverine would have brought Spider-Man along, that Peter Parker is Spider-Man and that Peter would have just so happen to be curious enough to look up his parents' deaths. I mean, does Mysterio know Spider-Man is Peter Parker?

There's not much else to add except the art is insane, dramatic and fast-paced as both of them went all out at different stages of the fight. The real question is how will Spider-Man survive getting impaled like this since he doesn't have a healing factor.

While I am very curious to see how Spider-Man survives this, it does kinda kill the vibe knowing that he's already co-starring in Gwenpool's latest book (which ironically also kills off Gwendolyn Poole!) as well as the rest of Spider-Man's main series.

AEW Women's Tag Team Cup Tournament The Deadly Draw- Final Match

By Mark Rodriguez Alright guys, so this is the final match between the Women's Tag Tournament, the Deadly Draw meaning that teams were made at random depending on what color chips they would select out of a drawing. The final match was between the Nightmare Sisters, Brandi Rhodes and Allie against the team of Ivelisse and Diamante, and it was shown Saturday, rather than Wednesday due to the NBA Play-Offs. The Match- The Nightmare Sisters (with Dustin & QT Marshall) VS Diamante & Ivelisse Due to the time constraints, the NBA game finished a half hour later than expected and the TNT Championship match was following this, so there wasn't time for a lot of shenanigans. Things started between Ivelisse and Brandi who started off with an exchange of armlocks and headlocks. Ivelisse tags Diamante in and after both ladies kicked her down and picked her up for a double slam. Brandi managed to tag Allie in who would quickly kick Diamante down. Diamante gets Allie in an armbar and...

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi...

SNK VS Capcom Chaos Volume 1

By Mark Rodriguez We'll be seeing a few crossovers this month, and we're gonna start with one based on a crossover videogame. If you think the Malibu SF comic series was kinda sloppy, this one was literally all action, pin ups and splash pages, and what little story in it is just plain weird. I'm talking about the SNK VS Capcom Chaos comics made by Happy Comics, translated by Japan and produced with supervision from both SNK Playmore and Capcom. But first a brief explanation on the game this was inspired from. In 2000, Capcom produced Capcom VS SNK Millenium Fight 2000 which would throw the fighters of Capcom and SNK at each other. Unfortunately, aside from Morrigan from Darkstalkers and Nakoruru from Samurai Shodown, the game felt more like Street Fighter VS King of Fighters. Capcom later made Capcom VS SNK 2 Mark of the Millenium with even more characters and variety as well as different modes of play. SNK made their own game, SNK VS Capcom Chaos and it offered a bit more...
