Comic Book Stash 7/21/2025

By Mark Rodriguez So we checked out Bent Wookee to catch up on the latest comics while adding a few new titles to the pull box. They were even nice enough to give us 20% off since we just got married this weekend while being long-time customers. Here are the cool things we got.   Wolverines and Deadpools # 1 - Another cool team-up idea. This time Wolverine and Laura team up with Deadpool and his daughter Ellie. Can these four get along without killing each other? The New Avengers # 1-  We get a new Avengers team but with a few unlikely allies as members. War Machine, Black Widow, Hulk and Laura team up with the likes of Namor, Clea and Carnage!! The New Avengers # 2- This new team has to face evil copies of the Illuminati, including Black Bolt from the Inhumans!!  The Superior Avengers # 4- The Superior Avengers continue to face off against villains while having villainous plans of their own. IDW Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles # 10- The story continues as the Turtl...

(The Tragic Death of the Original) Gwenpool # 2 (2025)

By Mark Rodriguez The Weapon-X organization created a new killing machine, X-31, who looks like an evil Gwenpool. Once X-31 encounters the original Gwenpool, Spider-Man and Kate Bishop, Spidey removes her mask. It turns out that this isn't some alternate evil Gwendolyn Poole... but the original Gwen Stacy!! Let's see what happens next, though based on the cover it seems things aren't going to bode well for Miss Poole.   The issue opens with the unmasked Gwen Stacy standing in front of a shocked and confused Spider-Man who was recently shot. Kate asks Gwenpool who that woman is, and she responds with 'Gwen Stacy'. When Kate doesn't know who that is, Gwenpool says 'Emma Stone'. Kate is, naturally, still confused and Gwenpool says it's a long story. Gwen asks herself what she would have felt upon seeing Spider-Man again and says now she knows. Peter asks who she is. Gwen says she's the woman he killed. We see a flashback of when Spider-Man tried to...

Spider-Man & Wolverine # 2 (Fight to the Death!)

By Mark Rodriguez Spider-Man and Wolverine team up to track down the Janus Directory, which contains files of every known spy mission ever, to keep it from falling into the wrong hands. While fighting off the combined forces of Kraven the Hunter, Omega Red and Mysterio, Peter decides to look into his parents' final mission as spies. The files revealed that Logan, working for the Red Skull at the time, was the one that killed his parents. Now Spider-Man is seeing red and is out to kill Wolverine in cold-blooded revenge!!   "Spider-Man VS Wolverine" opens with Spider-Man socking Wolverine across the face yelling out that he killed his parents. Wolverine tries to explain but Spider-Man hits him again. He yells out that he saw Wolverine kill his parents. As flashbacks pass that show Logan attacking the Parkers in an airplane, Peter says he's going to kill him.   Wolverine says he doesn't want to hurt Peter and says he can't trust what he saw after all the mind ga...

TMNT Saturday Morning Adventures Continued # 26

By Mark Rodriguez Krang and Hob forced Lotus Blossom into stealing Donatello's portable dimensional portal. While at first it seemed like Lotus was trying to warn Leonardo about this plan, she followed him to the Lair and knocked everyone out with a smoke grenade. What will happen next?     "Guess who's Baaaaaack" opens with Lotus seeing that the Turtle are now unconscious but needs a way to actually bring the portal back to Krang and Hob. She figures she could just tell them where to find it, but that would be if she had no honor. She reminds herself she's doing this to save the lives of her students, not to destroy the turtles' sanctuary. Just then Master Splinter returns from his fishing trip and sees her. Splinter asks Lotus what's done to his students. Lotus decides to attack and Splinter says he's lucky the fish weren't biting and he came home early. Lotus kicks Splinter's tackle box out his hand. Splinters ties Lotus up with his fishin...

Comic Book Stash 7/9/2025

By Mark Rodriguez This time we swung over to Alpha Comics to grab a few issues that escaped Third Eye's notice. We also happened to get an extra comic purchased on ebay just in time.   Megaman Timelines # 1- A mini-series of stories based on the different iterations or Megaman. We start things off with the original Blue Bomber. Darkstalkers X Street Fighter: Blood Throne #1-  The latest in several Darkstalkers and Street Fighter crossing over. This time they have to work together to see how half of Chicago City ended up in the Darkstalkers world. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Saturday Morning Adventures# 26 - Betrayed by Lotus Blossom, the Turtles have to get their portable dimensional portal back before Krang and Hob can use it to cause trouble!  TMNT Saturday Morning Adventures # 26 Review   Street Fighter Unlimited # 11- What I thought was a 10 issue series turned out to be a 12 issue series. Now that I got issue 11, I just need one more to complete the run!...

Mirage TMNT Issue 48 (TMNT Colored Classics Volume 3 Issue 1)

By Mark Rodriguez Before the cartoons, the toys and live action movies, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first appeared in the Mirage comics. Over the years the original volumes have been re-printed several times, especially under the IDW label. I picked up the first issue of what IDW calls TMNT Colored Classics Volume 3, even though it was still part of Mirage volume 1. This one deals with Casey Jones and his personal demons, which leads to another vigilante coming after him. Let's see how this goes. "Shades of Grey" starts with Casey running across the rooftops of Springfield and Leo, Raph and Mike getting ready to chase as part of some game. Don opts out since he wants to debug some systems he's working on and Raph considers it a weak excuse. Splinter allows Don to stay and the Turtles head off. Splinter explains that April will drive the Turtles to the Memorial Bridge where Casey already has a three hour head start. If they haven't found him by 1AM, he will ...

DC vs Marvel Comics # 1

By Mark Rodriguez Talk about a blast from the past. I remember reading part of this as a young teen back in the day. For those wondering what would happen if both comic book universes ever clashed... This is as close as we'll get. This is an interesting read, if at least to remember at what place the characters were back in the mid-90's as opposed to how they are now. Thanks to the Bent Wookee comic store I was able to grab all the issues for a cheap price. This is a 4 part story and while being far from perfect, it's cool for all the cameos alone. One thing to mention are some of the fights were actually decided by reader's votes... So if some of the results seem kinda lame and nonsensical... Well it was the readers fault or the character's own fanbase. As for some others, we just see the characters in 'about to fight' poses or stare downs... but never actually see them come to blows. Like I said.. Far from perfect. Anyways lets dive into the 90s DC and Ma...

Death of Superman 2 (Justice League of America # 69)

By Mark Rodriguez  If it's one of the things left out in the animated Superman Doomsday movie that woulda been cool is seeing Doomsday take down several DC superheroes before Superman himself stepped in. Kinda like in DBZ where the villains take out the regular fighters before Goku shows up, the Justice League of America all took a shot at Doomsday and were ripped apart to showcase just how powerful this new mystery monster was. Let's all see how this plays out as Bloodwynd, Booster Gold, Guy Gardner, Blue Beetle, Maxima, Fire and Ice try to stop this unstoppable menace. Last time a mysterious monster broke out of some sort of underground containment unit and started wrecking havoc wherever it went. Superman and Lois Lane were dealing with Clawster and some Underworlders, as the monster caused a truck to overrun and explode. Some people see this and decide it's time to call in the Justice League.   Justice League of America # 69 (heh) opens up with 'Down for the Count...

Death of Superman 1 (Superman Man of Steel # 18)

By Mark Rodriguez I still remember the media uproar when DC announced the death of Superman. Of course nowadays superhero deaths don't mean much, but back then DC was really trying to sell that they were killing Superman off for good. I wasn't even that much into comics then and that news hit the papers and the evening news. I mean, everybody knew who Superman was, so this was a huge deal. In current day I don't remember all that many comic book events actually making it on TV news. I remember classmates saying it was a dumb idea and if DC was going to put everything on Batman since they killed off their main cash cow. The funny thing is that nowadays, whether Superman is alive or dead, DC is still putting all their bets on Batman. "Doomsday Part 1" starts 'somewhere else' (it literally says so) as a gloved hand is punching away out some sort of metallic prison. After six pages of Kraanging against the metal prison, this mystery monster finally breaks fr...
