Comic Book Stash 4/5/2025

By Mark Rodriguez

Seems almost every comic book in my pull box got a new issue (or two) since March 22nd. Even so, I missed out on a few issues. I had to go hunting over at Stories and some just sold out. We also got stuff in the mail and store wide sales, so let's check them out.

Marvel Rivals # 1

Based on the hit video game that put Overwatch in its place. I don't have a PS5 and I'm not that good at these type of games, but let's check out the comic book version.

Black Canary Best of the Best # 5

I'll have to get back to this one.

All-New Venom # 5

Finally the big reveal of who the All-New Venom is! Sadly I'll have to track down issue 4 first. It was sold out, so I'll have to seek it out before I can dig into this one.

Batman # 158 Hush 2

This is it. The sequel and return of Hush, the summer event for Batman.

Batman (2025) # 158 Review

Psylocke # 6

The story continues, I will eventually get back to this one.

TMNT/Naruto # 2

I thought I already got this one, I'll have to double check. It's a cool variant cover at least.

TMNT/Naruto # 3

Eastern and Western Ninjas continue to crossover with this adventure.

West Coast Avengers # 6

West Coast Avengers VS the regular Avengers! How will the team fare against such heavy hitters like Captain America, Storm and Vision??

Batgirl # 6

I will eventually get into this one.

Two-Face # 5

I'll catch up on this one.

Detective Comics # 551

One of the classic 75 cents comics from Third Eye's 25% off store wide sale. Batman and Jason Todd Robin go up against the Calendar Man.

Detective Comics # 563

Two-Face is back, and he's after Batman!!

The Uncanny X-Men/Fantastic Four 1998 Annual

Got this from Hipcomic. X-Men teaming up with the Fantastic Four is all I needed to hear to grab this one.

X-Men # 87

Got this from Hipcomic. I actually used to own this one back in the day. The Magneto War, a story that dealt with a supposed amnesiac Magneto clone named Joseph. I want to get the full story. I believe Rogue has a thing for Joseph.

Final Fight # 3

This one surprisingly came in the Fun Box that we got from Third Eyes Comics. I was surprised since they don't usually get the Udon comics. It saved me the trouble of having to track it down.

X-Men # 85

The Eve of the Magneto War. It came in the mail today along with the rest of the haul.

The Uncanny X-Men # 367

More of the Magneto War. Looks like it was one of those stories where some parts were in X-Men and other parts in Uncanny X-Men.

The Uncanny X-Men # 328

I actually owned this comic before, so I'm happy to have it again. The cover itself shows why I got it, Psylocke VS Sabretooth. Sadly... thing didn't end well for Psylocke.

TMNT Saturday Morning Adventures # 33

Had to hunt this one down at Stories. Donatello is some sort of secret agent working alongside former mutant hunter, Dirk Savage???

TMNT Saturday Morning Adventures # 33 Review

Avengers # 330

The Avengers are trapped in another dimension facing powerful entities past our reality. How will they get back home? Also, did the gargoyles hurt Granny Staples????

Avengers # 331

Rage, She-Hulk, Black Widow and the reserve Avengers keep the fight going on Earth while the rest of the Avengers battle the Tetrarchs of  Entropy!

So this is one of the largest hauls I ever gotten, a lot of stuff in the mail, different comic shops and unexpected store wide sales.  It is funny seeing such a difference between different comic books and characters and where they were in the 80's, 90's and now. Like comparing Psylocke in Uncanny X-Men issue 328 with her current comic book series, especially since 90's Psylocke was Betsy and current Psylocke is Kwannon. Likewise with Two-Face in the 80's with where he is now as Harvey Dent fights to take control of his darker self rather than fully embracing it.

Even with this haul, I still have to track down All-New Venom number 4, and it seems Street Fighter Masters- Guile has been delayed a week. Either way, I have a lot of reading to catch up on.

Goshawk and Falconet # 1 (heavy spoilers so beware!)

By Mark Rodriguez Brought to you by the same studios that brought you Arachna # 1 and 2, we get a brand new superhero duo, Goshawk and Falconet. Let's check it out. The story opens with Goshawk and Falconet soaring through the sky just above Santa Monica Bay. They fly towards a ship that is being robbed. Goshawk tells her to secure the cargo while he keeps the guards busy.  The robbers are working for a villain named Black Parrot. Goshawk lands between two of them and bashes their heads together. Just then a third man pulls a gun on him from behind. Goshawk retracts his wings which knocks the gun out of the man's hand. Goshawk knocks the guy out while Falconet kicks the guy protecting the cargo. Falconet uses one of her claws to pick the padlock and finds a room full of captured women. She assures them that they're alright now. On the lower decks, Black Parrot and a woman named Secretarybird think their mission is a success. With the harbormaster being bought and paid for ...

SNK VS Capcom Chaos Volume 1

By Mark Rodriguez We'll be seeing a few crossovers this month, and we're gonna start with one based on a crossover videogame. If you think the Malibu SF comic series was kinda sloppy, this one was literally all action, pin ups and splash pages, and what little story in it is just plain weird. I'm talking about the SNK VS Capcom Chaos comics made by Happy Comics, translated by Japan and produced with supervision from both SNK Playmore and Capcom. But first a brief explanation on the game this was inspired from. In 2000, Capcom produced Capcom VS SNK Millenium Fight 2000 which would throw the fighters of Capcom and SNK at each other. Unfortunately, aside from Morrigan from Darkstalkers and Nakoruru from Samurai Shodown, the game felt more like Street Fighter VS King of Fighters. Capcom later made Capcom VS SNK 2 Mark of the Millenium with even more characters and variety as well as different modes of play. SNK made their own game, SNK VS Capcom Chaos and it offered a bit more...

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi...
