So.... the Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer....

By Mark Rodriguez

So... the Sonic movie trailer finally hits, and since I've been taking about it, I guess I should give my thoughts on it. I guess my thoughts pretty much would match most of yours. Sonic, the main character, looks horrible. By now we've seen that the prototype version was going to have the separate eyes, blue arms and legs and more human proportions. But now we got the final version.

Admittedly, he doesn't look so bad when he looks serious..... it's any other facial expression he makes that makes his design look horrible. I also don't see why they had to go overboard and show every single quill on his body, Sonic never looked particularly furry or quilly in the games, even though he's a Hedgehog. Some detail would be nice, but they might have gone overboard. The human-like proportions also just don't work on a non-human character like Sonic. He looks like a short guy wearing weird fuzzy Sonic suit. I just don't understand this need to make cartoon characters 'realistic' or to put them in live action movies alongside real people.

To no surprise to literally everyone, Jim Carrey is basically Jim Carrey. He does this in almost every film he's in, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. The trailer just called him 'The Doctor' so it's not clear if he will be called Robotnik or Eggman, but I think nowadays most people know him as Eggman. But yeah, Carrey brings in his Ace Ventura/Mask antics as Eggman, though it looks like he gets to look more like the videogame character near the end of the movie.

But man oh man, the part in the trailer where the military people say 'you're not suggesting who I think you're suggesting' 'We have no choice', they might as well have said 'Yes, bring in Jim Carrey.'

Another thing I noticed in the trailer is Sonic telling the cop that he's 'here to save their world'. There's also a scene where Sonic tosses a ring that becomes giant sized and acts as sort of a portal to get the human characters to safety. So maybe Sonic will be from Mobius or whatever his world is called nowadays and comes to Earth to stop whatever Robotnik is up to, even though the military seem to already know him beforehand. The scene with Robotnik shows giant mushrooms behind him, so this could be the Mushroom Hill Zone, further proving that Sonic is from his own world and not some lab animal created on Earth or other such nonsense. Maybe Robotnik starts out being from Earth but gets to obsessed with capturing Sonic that he ends up chasing him back to his world.

The trailer has 'Gangsta's Paradise' playing throughout it, because hey, when you think about Sonic the Hedgehog, 'Gangsta's Paradise' is the first song that comes to mind right? Some trailer play songs that don't appear in the actual movie, so maybe this is one of those cases. One thing I did like are the classic videogame sound effects, like the rings and Sonic's spin-dash.

The movie looks like it will be a mess with Jim Carrey practically stealing the show with his comedy routine and voice impressions. Even though he's not playing Robotnik properly, he might be the only entertaining thing in the movie. No one is liking Sonic's design and people on Youtube have even edited him out of the trailer, which make some people joke and say they should have just made an 'Eggman origin movie' without him.

Another weird detail, presumably to somehow explain his speed, is that Sonic seems to be electrically charged. He seems to leave his quills everywhere and they are electrically charged as well, even zapping Carrey when he tries to lick one.

Only time will tell how horrible this movie will be, so brace yourselves cause this Paramount Pictures release is going to speeding your way this November.

Last Minute Edit- It seems a few hours ago as of writing this, the director of this movie promises to improve upon Sonic's design. I guess the massive fan backlash of the current look actually got results.  This reminds me of their first TMNT movie that was originally going to have Eric Sachs be the Shredder, but due to massive backlash they hastily shot some extra scenes of an Oroku Saki in there and said he was the Shredder and Sachs was his lackey. It's good that they're listening to the fans but seeing how this means they're gonna have to re-animate all of Sonic's scenes for the movie, will this cause it to be delayed?

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
