Batman/TMNT # 4

By Mark Rodriguez

The Turtles and Shredder are stuck in Gotham City thanks to Krang warping them out of his reality. Unfortunately for the Turtles, Mutagen doesn't exist in the DCU and if they stay in it too long, they will eventually turn back into normal turtles. Shredder teamed with the Penguin to originally build the machine to send the Foot back home and strand the Turtles in Gotham forever, but when the Heroes in the Half Shell allied themselves with Batman, the Shredder was willing to blow it up and kill the only scientist that could rebuild it, just so that the Turtles and Splinter would meet their eventual demise. Losing his men, Shredder escapes but he's discovered that Rah's Al Ghul had taken over his helicopter and has found interest in him.

In Arkham (why Arkham and not normal jail?) the Foot Clan members are being questioned but none of them will talk. Joker overhears what's going on from his cell and is curious what's going on in the outside world. The doctor tells the guard to double his medication and leaves. The Joker says the party's just getting started.

Alfred is handed a stack of pizza boxes, surprised that the Turtles would prefer this over a real feast. Mikey slide down the banister on his skateboard and crashes into Alfred spilling pizza everywhere.

Splinter coaches Leo as he spars with Batman. After a lot of good moves, Leo manages to actually toss Batman on his back. Raph, now bandaged up after being sliced by Shredder still sulks in the background. Donnie watches 3D holograms of the Turtles' recent missions while they were stuck in Gotham, which shows that they have beat up random thugs and even the Mad Hatter.

Splinter reminds him to stay focused on the larger task at hand. Donnie says he knows and has gotten results from the Justice League on their bloodwork. They still have to find a way home as soon as possible but Cyborg might have found a way to slow down the effects on their mutagen. There are no signs of Shredder though.

Alfred has taken Mikey's skateboard and the turtle begs to have it back. Alfred hands the Turtles the pizza and they invite Batman to join in. Batman says he's fine, but Mikey says one is not fine until he has eaten some gooey pizza goodness. Batman eats the pizza and says it's good.

You can't tell me that Bruce has never... EVER... had a pizza ever in his entire life
Raph has had enough and rips off his sling. He says they're all dying and they're wasting time with a pizza party. Raph says Batman is just some rich guy fighting crime for kicks, while they have no choice but to go after Shredder before he kills them first. He storms out of the cave determined to find some way home and solve the mess they're in himself.

Rah's men are busy rebuilding the machine, as he tells Shredder that this plan better work. Shredder said he noticed something trapped between their worlds that he wouldn't allow to enter until he knew what it was. But now that he does, he says he will bring it to them, since it can burn Gotham to the ground. Shredder says to proceed carefully because he might be dangerous. Rah's asks who he's talking about, and suddenly the ninjas are attacked by a hockey club and a golf club. Casey Jones has come to save his friends.

Raph is walking in the rain, wearing his trenchcoat, and Batman drives alongside him in the Batmobile, asking him to get in. Batman says he wants him to understand him better and then they can part ways if he wants.

An alarm goes off in the Batcave, one designed to pick up the kind of otherworldy energy the Turtles and their weapons give off. Something is happening in a warehouse the narrows, but Batman has already left in the Batmobile. Donnie discovers that Batman has several Batmobiles and Alfred tries to stop them.

Batman takes Raphael to Crime Alley and explains how his family was gunned down when he was just 8 years old. It took forever to get over his parents' loss but it made him into what he is today to prevent the same thing from happening to any other family. He sees the Turtles as a family that will soon be ripped apart by science and evil and wants to help. Alfred alerts Batman that the Turtles left to find a reading from the transdimensional portal. Batman tells Raph that they have work to do, and the Turtle smiles and agrees.

The Turtles arrive to find Casey, battered and beaten. He has originally arrived to give them 5 vials of Mutagen to keep them alive, but Shredder and Rah's took them from him. The Turtles ask if he knows where they went, but Casey says he was too busy just trying to keep alive. The only word he heard out of them was 'Arkham'.

Sure enough, Shredder and Rah's Al Ghul are standing outside of Arkham Asylum with the vials of Mutagen....

My opinions-

It was surprising to see Casey in this, but I wonder how he knew about the Turtles running the risk of turning into normal turtles again.

One thing I never did like about the Mutagen in some of the comics was the fact that the Mutagen is still in the Turtles' bloodstream after 15 or so years. I mean, the Mutagen is meant to be a one-time thing, they mutated into humanoid turtles and stopped. It's not like they're mutating into something else or transforming constantly. Several forms of media have used this as a plot device, from a leech sucking the mutated blood out of Raphael in the Mirage comics to the Turtles' having their Mutagen suddenly become unstable years later in the 80's cartoon (although for some weird reason it never effected Splinter, Bebop and Rocksteady). There shouldn't be any Mutagen left in their body by now.

Another thing is that the IDW version of the Shredder was alive in Medieval Japan and Mutagen was part of his modern day revival. Shouldn't he also drop dead and turn to ash if the Mutagen in his body wears off?

Other than that the comic brings the action to Arkham, so it'll be awesome to see more of Batman's villains. We also see hear mention of the rest of the DC Universe as well as an awesome reference to the Batmobile used in Batman the Animated Series. That's just awesome.

The comic is getting good and only true insanity can follow. Also the animated movie is going to be called Batman VS The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and they already announced a trailer.

Just kinda wish the cover art was better. Batman looks scrawny and Mikey is the only turtle that doesn't look weird. My God, what did they do to Donatello??

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
