Mark's Epic Blog of Randomness

By Mark Rodriguez This time around Johnny joined us as we grabbed some comics from both Third Eye and Alpha Comics. We found some very interesting comics this time around. I also got the first issue of that Masters of the Universe comic I missed out on. There's also a cool crossover comic on the horizon.   The biggest haul was over at Third Eye Comics. Johnny took some time to check out the place. Sadly the entire manga section is still missing. Masters of the Universe Legends of Eternia # 1- As luck has it, by the time I found out this series existed, we were on number two. Luckily I was able to back-order it from Third Eye and here it is. Batman # 14- The Bad Seeds story continues as we enter week two. I hope the story makes sense if I just collect the Batman issues. Seems Mr. Freeze is involved. Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze. Why does that sound familiar? Batgirl # 24- It seems Batgirl will also get involved with the Bad Seeds storyline. It's not too often that she deals wi...

By Mark Rodriguez Portals have opened up in both the Makai world and our world (in the Chicago area). Morrigan relinquished her crown to Lilith as they enlist several Street Fighters to help out. This turns Morrigan feral and it seems she has gotten John Talbain on her side. Meanwhile Lilith is talking to some shadow creature only she can see which is manipulating her. What will happen next? "Queen's Shadow" opens as the fight in Chicago continues, as Cammy and Charlie are overwhelmed by the monsters and demons. One of the monsters on their side tells them they should fall back as this is not a fight they can win. Elsewhere BB Hood is gunning down more monsters. John Talbain is killing everyone in his wake while Morrigan drains the souls from humans and monsters alike. At Castle Aensland, Lilith sits on the throne as Rose explains the history behind England's Magna Carta. Demitri looms overhead, as it seems he has been the shadow creature all along. Rose continues t...

By Mark Rodriguez Here's the round up for October's DOA6 Last Round DLC road map. It looks like since we get updates every Thursday and October 1st happened to be a Thursday, we only got news of an update starting the following week.    So we see that Minato will get to double-dip. She'll be getting an all new costume. Then she'll be getting a second round of 'debut costumes' to catch her up with the rest of the female cast. So I assume they will be the maid outfits, the high society dresses, the color-changing ninja outfits and whatnot.  Nyotengu also gets to double-dip as she already had a new costume and Kasumi will get yet another outfit, which would be the third if you count the new outfit she already got upon release. Meanwhile Christie, Tina and Mila are still waiting for scraps. So far nobody is happy about this, especially since we have to wait a whole other month to see if Koei Tecmo remembers that other characters exist. The general consensus on the ...

By Mark Rodriguez Last time, Metalhead went haywire after he hooked himself up to Mondo Gecko's game console. Mondo called the Turtles for help. Michaelangelo used videogame logic and managed to shut Metalhead down. As things wind down, the Turtles and Mondo are suddenly captured by the geese villains that April ran into in a previous adventure.  What will happen next as the comic book series comes to a close? "It's Fowl Over" opens at the sewer lair as April tells Splinter what happened. She says that evil geese from another dimension have kidnapped the Turtles so that she can give them a magic rock in exchange. Splinter says things were easier when all they had to worry about were Krang and the Foot Clan. April explains some time back she was zapped away to another world that resembled World War II era Earth but with anthropomorphic birds instead of humans. The evil geese were looking for a gem called the Heart of K'Avila which could answer any question asked ...

By Mark Rodriguez  So this time around it seems the series is releasing a 'monthly DLC road map' where one character gets a new costume every week (Thursday) rather than the hundred-dollar season sets they used to give out for the classic DOA 6. I'm guessing if you were add up three month's worth of DLC it would be close to a hundred bucks or over, but at least you don't have to buy everything. I'll try to give the rundown on what each months provides and general thoughts. As you know, the costumes are sold in sets of four, roughly 21 bucks for the set or 8 bucks a piece. Despite each outfit having a different name, they are all the same outfit but in different colors. In this case we also got a new character thrown into the mix.  Lei Fang's Luminous Shadow Bundle- Lei Fang was the first to get a new costume, September 3rd. It's a classy looking outfit which comes in four colors. I didn't pick it up right away, since I was waiting on Minato and Hit...

By Mark Rodriguez This time around Wendy was out and about and was grabbing lunch near Alpha Comics, so she might as well swing by and see what's in the pullbox. We still don't have Street Fighter Masters Ken, but we did get the new Juri book. We also got the final issue of Saturday Morning Adventures TMNT, which as you know was based on the classic 80's cartoon.   TMNT Saturday Morning Adventures # 41- The final issue of the series. The Turtles (and Mondo Gecko) have been captured by the same enemies April once faced before. There's also a bonus back up with a 'what could have been' had the series continued at least tile issue 50. TMNT Saturday Morning Adventures # 41- Series Finale! Review   Street Fighter Masters- Juri # 1- Has Vortex made the mistake of targeting the deadly Juri Han?  The Spectacular Spider-Man Brand New Day # 5- Spider-Man's adventures continue! Gambit Gone # 1- This was Wendy's pick. This takes place after a recent Apocalypse ...

By Mark Rodriguez So today was Batman Day, where most comic shops were giving away a free Batman comic along with a mask. You also get 10-20% any Batman or Batman related book (Detective, Batgirl, Nightwing, etc). We were in the mood to hit the town so we went to more than one Third Eye, Stories and Alpha Comics. Let's check out what we got.   Avengers Armageddon # 4- The story continues and we get a cool variant cover based on Marvel Tokon. DC X Sonic the Hedgehog Metal Legion #  5- The second Sonic/DC crossover continues as Robotnik sided with the Legion of Doom. Superman # 127- I was lucky enough to find some of these in the wild at one of the Third Eye locations.  Superman # 134- Superman Blue and Superman Red team up alongside other heroes like the Flash and Martian Manhunter  Superman # 135- Two stories in one, one featuring Superman Blue while the other sets the spotlight on Superman Red. Batman of Two Worlds # 1- The OG Batman meets Absolute Batman...

By Mark Rodriguez So finally Dead or Alive 6's first new character Minato is out! Like I said, I finally purchased the game since we have something new and it also happened to be on discount. I still wish this was still just an upgrade to the original game. As of now there is literally nothing different other than a few new costumes, Minato and that 'Oboro' effect on only one pre-existing stage.    So as her story goes, she's a friend of NiCo and is helping try out some new lenses called the R-MN-T device. This allows her to copy moves of the fighters she encounters. She combines this with her own dance moves. Right off the bat I can see she has Lisa's break-dancing spin-kick and Kasumi's forward flip attack. There have been some complaints that if you count Honoka, and the OG Raidou, that's three characters that combine pre-existing moves in the same game. Plus after all the hoopla regarding this 'new' game, the fact the first actual brand new thing...

By Mark Rodriguez Pieces of the world of Makai and Chicago have switched places causing chaos everywhere. Queen Morrigan ceded the throne to Lilith as they send teams of Street Fighters and Darkstalkers to protect the citizens from the demons and monster of the Makai. The spell to switch ownership of the throne to Lilith has made Morrigan feral. The Makai energies have also had odd effects on Charlie, Cammy, Menat and John Talbain. What will happen next? "Hunter Killers" opens in the palace's main room where all of the humans being kept safe from the madness happening outside of Castle Aensland. John Talbain transforms into his werewolf form but is completely feral this time. Maggio sees this and runs off to find Menat.   Menat is in an underground parking garage, thinking she made a wrong turn somewhere. As she heads to the surface she can sense several eyes on her. Upon reaching the surface she sees Morrigan sucking the souls out of the various demons and monsters. Ma...
