Spider-Man '94 # 2

By Mark Rodriguez Spider-Man recently got MJ back after the original 90's cartoon run ended. Despite having married a clone in her absence, the real MJ has to carry on as if they were married. A man named Kaine was sent after Spider-Man. After being defeated, we find out that Kaine is one of many clones created by a new villain named Morlun that seeks to feast on Peter's life force. What will happen next?    "Chapter Two: Rebirth/Redeath" with a fresh new clone growing from an embryo to a full on adult Kaine. Morlun welcomes his 'son' back. The clone is actually a younger version of Morlun himself. Morlun takes Kaine to bed and tells him that he has been cloned from his cells and has lived and died multiple times. Every time he clones him, he wishes to fix the flaws so he can live a full life, but the degeneration kicks in the moment he's born. Regardless, Morlun has come to rely on Kaine. He tells him to rest so he can serve him when he awakens. Wheneve...

Comic Book Stash 10/29/2025

By Mark Rodriguez Here's a quick comic run before the month ends. It turned out to be a slightly larger haul than expecting. Check out what we got, courtesy of Third Eye Comics.   Marvel Rivals King in Black # 1 Another Marvel Rivals comic based on the successful Marvel themed hero shooter, but this time it's being advertised as an on-going series. Venom Black White & Blood # 3- A collection of different Venom stories from different writers, eras and art styles.  IDW TMNT 2025 Annual- For this year's annual the Turtles are together again and reminiscence about their time apart during the 12-issue reboot arc.  Thundercats # 20- Had to make sure this one wasn't a repeat since I just bought another issue a few days ago during Trick or Read.  All-New Spider-Gwen Ghost-Spider # 3-   Gwen's adventures continue as she is permanently in the 616 universe.  Black Cat # 3- It looks like the Black Cat has run into Sandman.  If she's not careful, he ...

Trick or Read comic Haul 2025

By Mark Rodriguez This year we hit several comic shops for Trick or Read, which is pretty much Free Comic Book Day Halloween Edition. The other shops were more like hobby stores with large comic book collections, so they weren't the type to go every week for your fix. While we didn't have time to check out Alpha Comics, Stories didn't do Trick or Read due to lack of customer interest last year. Let's see what we got.   The Author Immortal- The premise sounded interesting regarding an author that literally gets into their work. We got this one at Stories and it grabbed Wendy's interest. IDW TMNT # 12- The final issue of the Jason Aaron run. What awaits the Turtles after this as someone new takes over as the lead writer?  Thundercats # 19- I really need to sit down and read these someday.  X-Men 97 # 1- A Trick or Read reprint. They actually had a comic based on 'what if the 90's X-Men cartoon continues' way before the reboot show on the Disney channe...

TMNT Saturday Morning Adventures Continued # 30

By Mark Rodriguez Krang had sided with Old Hob and the Pantheon and started a contest where the first member to defeat the Turtles will lead the group. So far Drako, Golgotha and the Rat Queen have tried and failed. It looks like in this issue Shredder got tired of sitting on the sidelines and will step into action, alongside Mutagen Man? Let's see what happens in this issue.  "Revenge of the Mutagen Man?!?" opens with Seymour out on a date and embarrassing her with a lame joke. It looks like the dork can change his looks, but he's still a dork. Suddenly he has a headache. Suddenly, Seymour turns back into Mutagen Man. A waiter shows up and tells him that the restaurant does not accept random mutations and he's grossing out the customers. As Mutagen Man tries to keep the waiter from touching him, he grabs his arms and the waiter mutates into a penguin. The waiter laments that now he's the one breaking the rules. Seymour's date asks what he did to the wai...

Archie Sonic the Hedgehog # 108

By Mark Rodriguez While it currently has ended and been replaced by the current IDW run, the Archie Sonic run has been the longest running comic based on a video game. The Sonic comic lasted so long that you had the early game characters, the 90's cartoon characters, new characters during the lack of new Sonic games, and then all the new characters introduced during the Sonic Adventure games. The comic ran so long that the original Dr Robotnik from the Sonic Saturday Morning cartoon show was defeated for good. Eventually they faced an alternate reality version named Robo-Robotnik that would become Eggman based on the Sonic Adventure games and onward. This issue has Eggman meet the original Dr. Robotnik. Let's see what happens. Also it seems at this time Dr. Eggman was still mostly called Robotnik, so to tell them apart I'll still call him Eggman and the classic one Robotnik.   "Robotnik X2 = Trouble!" opens with Eggman and Snively observing Knuckles, who current...

Silke # 1

By Mark Rodriguez Sometimes a cover just grabs you. While purchasing some other comic on Hipcomic, I somehow stumbled onto this one. Sometimes having a kick-ass babe on the cover is all I need to pick up a comic I never heard of, especially if it's from the mid-90's/early 2000's. So let's check out what Silke is all about.   "Act 1- Playing God"  opens with a guy being caught by two agwents in a subway. The agents, Jones and Tobias, call him 'Ms Matthews' and tell them that they know it's her. Geena Matthews shape-shifts into her true form. The agents keep their guns aimed at her and tell her how their woman-hunt for her cost the tax payers six million dollars. One of the Agents says it's time to take her home. Matthews says she can find a faster way home just as a train is coming up. Matthews leaps towards the train tracks as the trains passes by. After the train is gone, the agents are surprised to see no sign of a body or blood across the t...

Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2025) # 1

By Mark Rodriguez So before we get into this one, I do want to say I haven't seen (nor plan to see) TMNT Mutant Mayhem or the cartoon series Tales of the TMNT. I couldn't get past the overly stylized designs of the characters, their portrayals and the fact that they ended up going to school as if they were regular teenagers. Now there is a new comic book series based on the cartoon, and by extension the movie. Will this comic change my mind on Mutant Mayhem? Doubtful but let's check it out anyway.   The issue opens with the Turtles, Ian and Irma hanging out in a makeshift fort, trading scary stories. Donatello wants to go next and Mikey telling scary stories isn't his strong suit. Donnie insists and says he will tell the story of 'the best week ever'.    Donnie flashbacks to the robotics club where he is trying to fix Metalhead with Ian and Irma. After constant failed test runs, Raph says he should give up and Leo asks why he's so focused on trying to fix M...
