DC X Sonic the Hedgehog # 2

 By Mark Rodriguez

Darkseid has set his sights on Sonic's world, going after the Chaos Emeralds. He has set forth an invasion of Parademons and destroyed the Master Emerald, causing Angel Island to fall to the ocean. Sonic and his friends team up with the Justice League to stop Darkseid. Sonic and the Flash run over to South Island and run into Darkseid himself who already has a Chaos Emerald in his possession. What will happen now?

The issue opens in Green Hill Zone in South Island as Darkseid grabbing the blue Chaos Emerald. Sonic and Flash arrive to see this. Flash tells Sonic to consider Darkseid worse than anything he ever faced. Sonic smirks and says he likes a challenge. Sonic uses his Sonic Spin Dash and Flash rushes in to grab the emerald. Sonic zips all over Darkseid, which goes ignored, and the villain closes his fist, grabbing Flash. Darkseid tosses Flash into Sonic. Darkseid powers up his Omega Beam and Flash tells Sonic to run.

The Omega Beams chase Sonic and the Flash, and the hedgehog can't dodge as they follow wherever he goes. Flash tells Sonic to run towards him, he'll go high and Flash goes low. Sonic leaps over Flash as he slides under him, making the two beams collide into each other and explode. Darkseid leaves in a Boom Tube and Sonic says he's not even bothering to stick around to finish them off.

The Flash contacts the rest of the Justice League that Sonic was 'too slow' to stop Darkseid. The rest of the League and Sonic's friends couldn't find anything. Cyborg and Tails are almost done on getting their tracker online but the Chaos Emeralds are difficult to find.

Darkseid arrives at his base and asks Desaad for a report. Desaad says they are still searching for the other emerald. Darkseid asks about the delay since Desaad led him to the first emerald without a problem. Desaad says their power is chaotic and unruly, as if they were hiding from the Father Box. Darkseid says the Justice League has arrived on this world and will complicate things. He orders his elite warriors to search the planet, leaving no stone unturned. He will apply the emerald to the Dimensional Engine to see if it was worth the trouble.

Cyborg detects that a bunch of Apokolips forces were sent out. Tails says they can cross-reference where they're going with their own data and get solid search coordinates. Cyborg will send the League to the emeralds closest to them. Flash tells Sonic he can move within a picosecond (equal to one trillionth of a second), and the hedgehog taunts him about his speed still being able to be measured.

The heroes discuss their plan to counter Darkseid and what to do if things go South. Cyborg he has an emergency Boom Tube back to the Watch Tower if needed. Green Lantern says it won't be enough to evacuate the planet. Superman says they'll take care of things like they always do and put faith in their new friends.

The heroes face off against several of Darkseid's top generals. Batman and Shadow face off against Steppenwolf who already has the orange Chaos Emerald in his grasp.

Batman tosses a flash bomb, which distracts him long enough for Shadow to zip all over him with rapid-fire punches. Batman says that Shadow moved faster than he could perceive. Shadow says he used Chaos Control to stop time. Batman says that might be the key to stopping Darkseid. Just then the area begins to shake due to Darkseid's power.

Darkseid ponders that with just the one emerald he can destroy the planet. If he can obtain all seven, he can destroy universes.

Batman tells the others that they've run out of time and have to stop Darkseid now. Superman and Knuckles just defeated Kalibak. Superman asks Tails if he has a way for everyone to get to Darkseid's Ragna Rock. Tails can't get there with his planes. Sonic says that someone volunteered to be a ride-share. Eggman arrives in one of his floating fortresses.

Eggman asks Sonic if he's already started fighting against the interdimensional invaders. Flash asks Sonic if that guy is his nemesis. Sonic says Eggman is a mechanical genius out to conquer the world. Flash says he's also bald and Superman also has 'one of those'. Eggman offers the crew a ride to the Ragna Rock and they can do the rest. Flash asks if Eggman can be trusted. Sonic says they can trust him at least on the short term since he stands to lose as much as everybody else does.

With everyone on board, Eggman crashes the ship into one of the eyes of the Darkseid-faced Ragna Rock. As the heroes break in, Eggman tells them to hurry up since he doesn't want anyone else to conquer his world. Wonder Woman ponders on taking care of Eggman after all is said and done and Amy says she would love to see that.

Flash is first to find Darkseid and the Emerald before Sonic could. Sonic shows up and says he was just lucky he went the other way. Darkseid says he give their world credit for its tenacity. Darkseid blasts Superman with his Omega Beams before he could hit him from behind. Superman tells Flash and Sonic to pick up the pace, and they both finally call a truce. Batman tells the crew to neutralize Darkseid's device, keep Darkseid distracted and get the emerald back. Everyone attacks Darkseid.

Superman and Darkseid's fists collide creating a massive shockwave. Green Lantern and Silver use their powers to restrain Darkseid as Wonder Woman wraps her golden lasso around him. Knuckles and Wonder Woman pull on the sacred rope, bringing the tyrant to his knees. Shadow, holding the red Chaos Emerald, uses Chaos Control to immobilize Darkseid.

Darkseid says the Fatherbox told him about their world and Chaos Control, which drew him here. Shadow is surprised that Darkseid can move. Darkseid says it might be impossible for most mortals but not for Shadow since he's the Ultimate Life Form, and not for him because 'Darkseid is'. Darkseid grabs onto the lasso and whips Wonder Woman and Knuckles into Shadow and Superman.

Sonic starts attacking Darkseid while Flash tries to disable the dimensional transit by phasing into it. Sonic tries to pull the emerald out of Darkseid's grasp. Darkseid says Sonic was beneathe his notice but this time he won't avoid his Omega Beams. Superman grabs Darkseid in a choke hold, directing his beams away from Sonic. Green Lantern and Silver use their powers to block the beams away from Flash.

Flash asks Cyborg for help since he doesn't know what he's looking for within the machine. Cyborg says that Darkseid was sloppy when crossing over and now this Chaos Emerald fueled engine isn't playing by any rules. Darkseid blasts everyone back with the blue emerald's light. Cyborg pulls Flash out of the engine, which has gone out of control.

Tails says the engine is destabilizing and soon time and space will lose all meaning. Darkseid holds the Chaos Emerald forward and says he will bend this power to his will. Superman and Wonder Woman grab onto him, saying they can't let him regain control. Batman tells Green Lantern to gather Sonic's friends and tell Cyborg to activate the Boom Tube. Sonic and the rest are trapped in a green energy orb. Amy asks what Batman is doing. Batman says he is placing his faith in them. Cyborg activates the Boom Tube.

Sonic and the rest appear in the Watchtower which Mr. Terrific was guarding in the League's absence. Mr. Terrific realizes that they came from the world that Darkseid was attacking. Tails explains that reality was collapsing and the Justice League sent them here to save them. Amy says they need to be sent back so they can help. Mr. Terrific says he can't since there aren't any dimensional coordinates to target. Darkseid, the Justice League and Sonic's world are all... gone.

My Thoughts-

I have to hand it to the writing here. Darkseid might not be portrayed as outright killing people or shedding, but he still comes off as an incredibly dangerous and serious threat. I mean, the Omega Beams are instant death to everyone that isn't Superman and probably Wonder Woman, and he doesn't hesitate to try to vaporize Sonic and Flash into atoms. Even Dr. Eggman sees that he's too dangerous  to even try to form an alliance with and just went straight to helping Sonic.

The comic had some fun cameos. We got a panel of Amy getting her car juiced up thanks to Vector. We also see the heroes fight off several of Darkseid's forces like Kalibak, Steppenwolf and some of the Female Furies. I would have liked to have seen more of these fights, but I guess they can only cram so much into a 5 issue mini-series.

Sonic and Flash keep trading barbs over who is faster than the other. They both agreed to a truce, and we'll see if that lasts. Assuming Sonic gets to see the Flash ever again.

On that note... what a cliffhanger. Sonic's world is gone. The Justice League put their faith in Sonic and his crew on somehow getting them back. We'll see what happens next issue. This has been a fun story so far and the stakes were high from the get-go. I guess like Sonic himself, this crossover is pretty fast-paced.

AEW Women's Tag Team Cup Tournament The Deadly Draw- Final Match

By Mark Rodriguez Alright guys, so this is the final match between the Women's Tag Tournament, the Deadly Draw meaning that teams were made at random depending on what color chips they would select out of a drawing. The final match was between the Nightmare Sisters, Brandi Rhodes and Allie against the team of Ivelisse and Diamante, and it was shown Saturday, rather than Wednesday due to the NBA Play-Offs. The Match- The Nightmare Sisters (with Dustin & QT Marshall) VS Diamante & Ivelisse Due to the time constraints, the NBA game finished a half hour later than expected and the TNT Championship match was following this, so there wasn't time for a lot of shenanigans. Things started between Ivelisse and Brandi who started off with an exchange of armlocks and headlocks. Ivelisse tags Diamante in and after both ladies kicked her down and picked her up for a double slam. Brandi managed to tag Allie in who would quickly kick Diamante down. Diamante gets Allie in an armbar and...

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi...

SNK VS Capcom Chaos Volume 1

By Mark Rodriguez We'll be seeing a few crossovers this month, and we're gonna start with one based on a crossover videogame. If you think the Malibu SF comic series was kinda sloppy, this one was literally all action, pin ups and splash pages, and what little story in it is just plain weird. I'm talking about the SNK VS Capcom Chaos comics made by Happy Comics, translated by Japan and produced with supervision from both SNK Playmore and Capcom. But first a brief explanation on the game this was inspired from. In 2000, Capcom produced Capcom VS SNK Millenium Fight 2000 which would throw the fighters of Capcom and SNK at each other. Unfortunately, aside from Morrigan from Darkstalkers and Nakoruru from Samurai Shodown, the game felt more like Street Fighter VS King of Fighters. Capcom later made Capcom VS SNK 2 Mark of the Millenium with even more characters and variety as well as different modes of play. SNK made their own game, SNK VS Capcom Chaos and it offered a bit more...
