Spider-Man & Wolverine # 1

By Mark Rodriguez There's been a couple of character team-ups coming out last week. The Vision and the Scarlet Witch, Hulk and Doctor Strange but the one that got me curious enough to pick up a copy was Spider-Man and Wolverine. I'm curious what got these two to work together (this time anyway since they've teamed up several times before over the years) and what villains they will face. Let's check it out.    "Duality" opens in Berlin Germany as Wolverine hacks and slashes his way through HYDRA zombies. Wolverine says he doesn't do 'funny' but Bill has some sense of humor inviting him to a HYDRA Remnant Safe House after so many years. Bill, a career spy intelligence agent to the highest bidder, says Wolverine hasn't lost his touch. Wolverine asks what he wants and Bill asks if he's heard of the Janus Directory. Wolverine knows that the Janus Directory is a master database of the world's double agents. He figured he'd be on it, and...

Gwenpool (2025) # 1

By Mark Rodriguez Gwenpool is a 'real world' Marvel fan named Gwendolyn Poole that somehow ended up in the Marvel Universe. Fearing that she might be killed off as a random extra as collateral damage, she chose to become a superhero popular enough to stick around. While she had some fighting skills, Gwen's biggest weapons are being incredibly genre-savvy and able to break the fourth wall. But now there's a deadlier and darker Gwenpool running around. What will happen in this new series?   The issue opens in a Weapon X Facility: Beta as some armed soldiers are looking for their target. One of them hears that the target is in the vicinity and activates her night vision. She asks Calloway if she has eyes on the target. Their target says that agent Calloway has such beautiful eyes. The target shows the agent Calloway's decapitated head. The agent opens fire and mows the person down. The agent declared the target to be down. The target says she's wrong and asks for h...

All-New Venom # 6

By Mark Rodriguez After several red herrings with Luke Cage, Rick Jones, Robbie Robertson and even Madam Masque, it turns out that the All-New Venom was none other than Mary Jane. How did Venom and MJ end up being linked together? What will be Robbie and Paul's reaction? What about all these people out to kill Venom? let's see what happens next. The story opens as Mary Jane explains that everything started during the Venom War when Meridius, an evil future version of Eddie Brock, released an ancient mega-symbiote called the Arachniote. MJ was fighting against it as Jackpot and was losing badly. She knew all of this was Venom's fault. Venom says that's not fair. MJ asks who glooped up her machine. Venom said she was the one that wanted her superhero slot machine to not be so random. Spider-Man and Venom helped make it work better. Instead of some random useless power or machine, she now had something that worked, just like she asked for. As Robbie and Paul sit and hear ...

TMNT Saturday Morning Adventures Continued # 24

By Mark Rodriguez While the Turtles have been having their adventures, Krang was still busy trying to pull Shredder and Rocksteady back into their dimension. After trying to use a Technodrome from the future, Shredder got caught between dimensions and is now in a ghostly form. Further attempts to undo this ended up in Rocksteady also being trapped in a similar state. Old Hob from the Pantheon has ended up stranded on Earth and has allied himself with Krang. What will happen when those two finally manage to fix the portal? "Three Nasty Turtles and a Sharp-Dressed Brain" opens in Shredder and Krang's hideout as Old Hob has finally fixed the transdimensional portal and just needs to give it a test run. Shredder asks Hob what he's waiting for and demands to be returned to his physical form at once, and Rocksteady agrees. Krang tells Shredder that the slightest miscalculation might not bring Shredder back, but might create a wobble in time and space with unpredictable an...

By Mark Rodriguez The Fantastic Four is coming back with yet another issue 1, just in time for their upcoming movie. Free Comic Book Day not only gives us a new adventure with the modern day Fantastic Four (Johnny's facial hair) and also some relating to the X-Men and others. Let's check it out.   "Strange New world" opens with the Fantastic Four testing out their new teleporter when they suddenly get summoned to an alien world. Three alien kids are surprising the summoning worked and ask if Reed is the Deathmaster. Johnny introduces himself as the Human Torch and says the others with him are the Thing, the Invisible Woman, and 'Guy Stretchomatic'.
