Spider-Men # 2

 By Mark Rodriguez

Last time, Spider-Man fought it out with Mysterio and was accidently sent to the Ultimate universe where he ran into Miles Morales, the second Ultimate Spider-Man. In case no one knew, the Peter Parker of the Ultimate universe died in the epic ‘Death of Spider-Man’ so how will Miles react upon meeting our classic Peter Parker? Let’s find out.

Issue 2 begins with Mysterio waking up after Spidey knocked him out to discover that Spider-Man went to the Ultimate universe. He puts on some VR- looking tech and activates an avatar version of himself. Somehow Mysterio has discovered the Ultimate universe and wants to use it as his personal playground. He sends the avatar Mysterio into the alternate universe to stop Spider-Man before he ruins his fun.

Elsewhere, the 2 Spider-Men are face to face, having a bit of communication problems since neither of them want to say too much. Miles asks if the Spider-Man he’s seeing is Peter Parker… and that freaks out Spidey. Spider-Man fires a web-shot at Miles, which he dodges Matrix Style. However, Miles takes the time to be impressed by how awesomely he dodged it, that he gets a spider-boot to the face.

Miles just wants to talk, but Peter keeps freaking out on how he knows so much about him. Ultimate Spidey promises not to tell anyone he’s Parker, though he points out everyone will know anyway if he continues to dress up ‘classic style’. Miles tries to jumpkick Pete, but he also dodges it Matrix style. Then Miles does one of his unique tricks, the Venom Sting, on Pete’s neck.

Peter seems knocked out and Miles is surprised to find out he’s the only one with a Venom Sting. Hoping he’s alright, Miles tries to unmask him. Peter grabs his wrist and sends him flying off the building. Once Peter shakes it off, he realizes what he’s done and swings off the building hoping the kid is alright. However, he doesn’t know that Miles can also turn invisible.

Miles slides down Pete’s webline and kicks him in the face. As both Spider-Men fall, Miles lands into a huge patch of webbing. Spider-Man then tosses a webline to the back of Mile’s head and pulls his mask off. Miles is shocked and covers up. Peter questions him, but Miles is more concerned about concealing his identity. He then touches the webbing and send the Venom Sting pulsing through it.

The webbing falls apart and Peter is completely knocked out, so Miles uses Pete’s web-shooters to make them swing back to a rooftop and out of public eye. Now safe, Miles unmasks the unconscious Peter and wonders what to do next. Peter wakes up in a S.H.I.E.L.D cell, face to face with Nick Fury. This confuses him since the Ultimate Nick Fury looks very different from the one he knows.

Peter kinda/sorta explains he finds himself in another dimension where everyone seems to know that Peter Parker is Spider-Man and that there is another version of Spider-man and Nick Fury than the ones he knew. He then asks where the kid is, and Fury takes him to see him. Fury has Miles tell Parker about all the things that happened to Ultimate Parker, while he tries to figure out how to send him back home. As they leave in a helicopter, Nick Fury looks up and remembers the Ultimate Peter Parker.

Peter asks Miles if the Peter Parker that he knows is dead… but before he can answer, something blows up the helicopter. The two Spider-Men rescue the pilot and see the villain responsible. It’s the avatar Mysterio and he seems rather happy to be able to take down two Spider-Men.

My Thoughts-

I kinda wish Peter wasn’t so quick on the draw and started attacking Miles when all the kid wanted to do was talk. I kinda assume, Pete was just planning to web him up and ask questions… but he wasn’t expecting the kid to be able to actually dodge the webs and take the fight to him. I guess there’s always an unwritten rule with all hero team-ups. Make them have some misunderstanding and fight it out until they realize they’re both good guys.

I also like the fact that with all Spidey’s been through, Clone Saga, and all, the first question he asked Miles was if he was a clone. And he was also relieved to see that Miles was a completely different person and not a weird younger version of himself. I also liked when Pete asked Miles if he called him Spider-Man and not Spider-Boy, since the new version is very young.

It’s also interesting to see that Mysterio somehow tapped into the Ultimate universe. I heard somewhere that there is no Ultimate Mysterio, it’s the same 616 Mysterio in both universes. I guess he was in the Ultimate universe when that version of Parker died. But then, why doesn’t he know that the 616 Spider-Man is also the 616 Peter Parker?

Looking back, it's kinda funny to find out that Mysterio hops between the 616 and Ultimate universes since in Spider-Man Far From Home, he was also the one to start talking about multiverses and introduce the concept to the MCU.

We also later to see Miles meet a different version of Peter Parker in the Enter the Spiderverse movie a few years back. I wonder how Miles reacted whenever he got brought over to the 616 universe permanently and see that there already was an established Spider-Man that wasn't going anywhere and not just a temporary alternate reality version.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
