AEW Dark Elevation Women Matches Jan 31, 2022 (Episode 48)

 By Mark Rodriguez

We continue the future of AEW female wrestlers as they continue to grow and improve and garner a fanbase. We see Thunder Rosa and Ruby Soho return, but also some cool returns.

Match 1-  Kilynn King vs Brandi Rhodes

The women start to grapple and then duck each other's moves until KiLynn got Brandi in a pin. Brandi quickly kicks out of it. KiLynn grabs Brandi with two consecutive Armdrags, which leads her to roll out of the ring as Arn Anderson tries to calm her down. Not one for pep talks, KiLynn runs in with a dropkick through the ropes, knocking Brandi down. KiLynn drags Brandi into the ring but as she climbs in, she was too focused on making sure Anderson wouldn't interfere that Brandi managed to clock her in the face with a high knee. With KiLynn down, Brandi starts stomping on her.

Brandi throws her opponent against the ring post and starts throwing punches. Then she throws her to the other ringpost and runs into her with an elbow. She rolls KiLynn to the mat and kicks her in the face. She goes for the pin and KiLynn kicks out. As both women square up, KiLynn lands a knee to the gut and follows up with a high knee to the face. KiLynn goes for a punch but Brandi catches her arm and this time she starts kicking her down until her opponent drops to her knees. Brandi follows up with a dropkick to the face.

Brandi goes for the pin but KiLynn kicks out. The taller redhead flings Brandi into the ringpost, but as she charges at her, she runs right into Brandi's boot. Brandi leaps off the ropes while KiLynn is dazed, but her taller opponent manages to catch her. Brandi slips out of her grasp and goes for a kick, but KiLynn is able to catch her leg and pick her up again and then slam her down. KiLynn goes for the pin but Brandi kicks out. The ladies exchange blows to the face until KiLynn lands a few punches in a row and does a spinkick to her midsection. KiLynn runs for the ropes but Brandi follows and kicks her to the mat.

Brandi lifts KiLynn up and clocks her with a right cross. As KiLynn is down, Brand grabs her legs and gets her into a submission hold called the Stretchmarks. KiLynn taps out and Brandi wins the match.

Match 2- Nikki Victory vs Anna Jay

Ann Jay is escorted by the Dark Order, and Nikki isn't all that impressed. The woman grapple and Anna Jay trips Nikki so she falls on her face. They try to grapple again and Nikki shoves Anna Jay up against the ring post until the ref breaks it up. Nikki swings a hard punch on Anna and then gives her a few kicks, rolling her to the mat. Nikki then bounces off the ropes and hits Anna Jay in the face with a running dropkick. She goes for a pin but Anna Jay kicks out.

Anna Jay gets up against the ring post, but moves out of the way as Nikki charges towards her and smashes her elbow against it. Now Anna Jay runs into her, hitting her up against the ring post with an elbow, followed by a kick. Anna Jay flings her into the other ringpost and runs into her with a running back kick. Anna Jay grabs Nikki's arm and kicks her in the back of the head. She then grabs her in the Queen Slayer submission hold. As they drop to the mat, Nikki Victory taps out and Anna Jay scores the win.

Match 3- Joseline Navarro & Megan Meyers vs Thunder Rosa & Ruby Soho

Thunder Rosa and Joseline start things off as Rosa gets her opponent in a headlock and tags Ruby in. Rosa and Ruby both legtrip Joseline down, then Rosa picks up Ruby and drops her on their opponent. Ruby goes for the pin and Joseline kicks out. Ruby and Joseline grapple over the ropes and Joseline shoves Ruby's face back. Ruby socks her back and while the ref checks on Joseline, Megan manages to clock Ruby in the face. As Ruby gets up, Joseline pulls her to her corner and tags Megan in. Megan knocks Ruby down and gets her in a headlock. Ruby fights her way out of it and shoves Megan off her long enough for her to tag Rosa back in.

Thunder Rosa and Megan Meyers run towards each other, and Rosa trips her so she lands on the ropes. With Megan hanging off the ropes, Rosa runs at her with a flying dropkick to the back. While she's there, Rosa socks Joseline away, then starts kicking Megan down to the mat. Rosa screams and runs towards Megan with a double gut stomp dropkick. Rosa drags her towards the middle of the ring and goes for the pin, but Megan powers out. Rosa picks her and gets her upside down but Megan punches her way out and shoves her into Ruby. Rosa quickly tags Ruby back in.

Ruby gets Megan down and lifts her with a Catapult, right into Rosa's flying dropkick. Ruby goes for the pin but Joseline shoves her off her partner. Joseline goes for a running punch towards Rosa, but Rosa dodges it and picks her up and slams her. Ruby grabs Megan's arm and tags Rosa in. Ruby hits her with her wind-up overhead kick and Thunder Rosa picks her up and slams her with the Thunder Driver. Thunder Rosa pins her and gets the win.

Suddenly Mercedes Martinez steps out and Ruby has to hold Thunder Rosa back. They have a match coming up the following Friday on AEW Rampage but Thunder Rosa wants to fight right there and then. Mercedes taunts her as their match is only days away.

My Thoughts-

It was great seeing KiLynn King back, I like her overall look and energy. I figured Brandi would win since her current deal is to build herself back up since returning to the ring and racking up wins, but I'm glad KiLynn put up a good fight. I hope KiLynn keeps coming back and start racking wins of her own. I notice the crowd continues to boo Brandi and cheer whenever her opponent is gaining the advantage over her.

The Anna Jay match was alright, but wow Nikki Victory was pissed the whole time. You would think Anna Jay did something to her backstage or that's just Nikki's deal, but she was full on savage rage the whole time. I do hope we see more of her.

Thunder Rosa and Ruby Soho continue to work good together as a tag team, though I feel bad for their opponents. Like, what chance do they have against such a team? Megan got to do some moves here and there but we barely got to see much of what Joseline can do. I figured since she had the power advantage over Ruby and Rosa, we'd see her do a couple of awesome bodyslams out of her. We'll see if we see more of those two.

Pretty entertaining matches. I'm looking forward to the match between Thunder Rosa and Mercedes Martinez, it's cool to see Mercedes in AEW. But first, let's see what matches await us tomorrow on AEW Dark.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
