Ikki Tousen Volume 1 Chapter 4 Review

 By Mark Rodriguez

Hakufu Sonsaku starts her new life at Nanyo Academy as she learns more about being a Toushi. There is a heiharchy at the school based on rank and strength. After several fights, Hakufu faced a large student named Gyashuu who finally posed a challenge to her. He was later killed by a mysterious woman with an eyepatch who has now set her sights on Hakufu.

The chapter opens with a mysterious fighter, surrounded by the guys he just defeated getting a message on his phone that targets Hakufu Sonsaku at 8AM.

Meanwhile Hakufu is upset because she overslept on the first day of the new school since Shuyu also overslept. She's angry this will give her a bad first impression to everyone. Shuyu tells her to stop complaining and to stay away from Gukushu. Hakufu says she'll try since they still have a debt to settle and goes on a tirade. She then catches Shuyu checking her out. Hakufu kicks him and sends him falling on his face for staring.

Meanwhile Genpou is relaxing while pondering the fact that Ensho from Yoshu High has been elected leader of the Anti-Toutaku Federation. Also it seems Choubaku from Chinryu High and Kousousan from Yushu High are considering joining too. He asks about Sousou, who hasn't been seen since he walked away.

The eyepatch girl that killed Gyashuu is sitting on a fence next to Genpou. She's not happy with the fact that Kannei has been sent after Hakufu and wonders what the fuss is about regarding a low level Toushi. Genpou says he doesn't know either but she's not buying it. He puts and arm around her and tells her he has a thing for eyepatches.

Genpou says the boss thinks it's better to take out Hakufu now before she develops into a full on warrior. He says Gyashuu got off light which is why she was sent to deal with him instead of Kannei. He asks why she never went after Kannei, suggesting she can't take him. The woman lashes out her arm, two of her fingers stopping mere millimeters away from his throat, warning him to choose his words wisely. Genpou says it would be an honor to die by her hand than by Kannei's.

Hakufu is scrambling around the school, trying to find her class. Kannei is waiting, having been informed that she would be attending an introductory seminar at room 312 on corridor B. Shuyu barely made it to class before the gate was locked. However, now he's surrounded by a bunch of tough guys that have been waiting to ambush him.

Hakufu has already run into Kannei and is dodging his attacks. She flips to the air, avoiding his tonfa strikes, but he appears in front of her, kicking towards her as she tries to block it. She asks if all of this is just because she's late. Hakufu's top gets blasted off and she's angry since it was difficult to find a uniform her size. She goes for a kick but Kannei catches her foot in between his hand and his tonfa. She gets hit so fast she couldn't even see it and is knocked down a flight of stairs. As she tries to recover, Kannei leaps towards her, ready to take her out.

Suddenly Kannei gets kicked violently upwards through the stairs and smashing into the wall. Hokufu watches as Kannei is now buried in the debris of the wall and pieces of the stairs. The eyepatch woman was the one behind this and locks eyes with Hakufu.

Genpou seems to know all of this is going on and finds this interesting.

My Thoughts-

The action is picking up as tougher enemies are being sent after Hakufu. After two chapters of showing off her skills and strength, finally Shimei has her eyes set on Hakufu. Seems the higher ups are afraid of her reaching her potential and are trying to get rid of her before she gets there.

There's not too much to say about this chapter as we see more martial arts action mixed with the fanservice. Fanservice doesn't bother me as long as it doesn't overtake the story and the action. I'm glad this volume showed a lot more fighting instead of a fight starting, cut away to something else, then cut back to the fight being over.

Either way I can't wait for the next volume to see how this epic battle will play out.

Dragonball- It's time to go beyond Z or end it

By Mark Rodriguez So while the Dragonball Super anime has ended for a few years now, and the Dragonball Super Broly movie is over a year old as well, the Dragonball Super manga has actually continued past the Tournament of Power and  Super Broly movie. As this new arc, nicknamed the Moro Arc after its main villain is coming to a close, the question is where do they do from here? Also before you get into this article, I really hope you know your DBZ because there are just waaaaaay too many characters to take the time out to explain who everyone is one by one. Dragonball and Dragonball Z is one of the longest running anime and manga series since the 80's and while it seemed it was put to pasture after Dragonball GT ended in 1997, the only thing left was for the American dubs to catch up. Despite this the love and nostalgia for the series lived on with videogames and the occasional special here and there that would bring back the characters (like the Yo, Son Goku and his Friends Retu

Arachna# 1 Review *Spoilers*

By Mark Rodriguez Here's another awesome comic from independent artists that opened up an Indiegogo to get it started. I usually don't chip in unless it looks real good, like you just know they're gonna hit their goal. Arachna, a sexy superheroine with a split personality and an amazing art syle, sure looked like a good pick for me.  With lots of clever marketing in advance, even getting a person to dress as Arachna herself to bring the character to life, they hit their goal the same day they actually opened the Indiegogo for donations. I chipped in for the comic and the shirt, and here is my review on the latest superheroine that's bringing sexy back to comics, Arachna! Also note, while I'll try to keep my language as tame as I can, this book deals with way more adult stuff than I usually discuss on this blog. The Adventure Begins The issue opens with Jennie lying in bed naked in her apartment, a noticeable pile of sketches lying on the floor. She awakens to a voi

Five Nights at Freddy's- How FNAF 2 Complicated the Lore

By Mark Rodriguez Five Nights at Freddy's.... a game series that started out by being a security guard trying to survive 5 nights at a pizzeria full of haunted animatronics that spawned lots of sequels. Now the latest one is looking like it's going to be about some of the animatronics actually trying to keep you safe from a serial killer that might have been brainwashed by a possessed VR game. What the hell? FNAF.... how it started and where it's going......  Here's a quick trip down memory lane over just how simple the story of FNAF seemed to be in the first game, and how the second game started the long path of the huge mess that we have now. Now when the first game came out back in 2014, creator Scott Cawthon had no way of knowing it would be a smash hit with lots of sequels. In fact, it was a bit of a last desperate attempt to make it in the gaming business. It's hard to believe nowadays, but had FNAF failed, Scott would have given up working on video games and
