The Riddler is out to steal a rare and valuable gem but it looks like someone put him up to this. Batman's search for the classic foe led him to finding that Deathstroke has been hired to take down the Dark Knight. As Batman and Deathstroke fight, Riddler makes a run a for it but it stopped by Green Arrow!
Batman and Green Arrow watch the Riddler as he throws out one of his lamest riddles. The Riddler vents his frustration on how Batman always finds him, even when he escapes all he way to Amsterdam. The police show up and Riddler makes a break for it again. As the heroes give chase, Arrow explains he's also after the buyer for the stolen gem. Riddler leaves behind a trail of Riddler cards and Arrow says this is why everyone hates Batman's villains. Batman says they lead to a trap and if they run the other way it will be a trap as well so they head to the roof.
The Riddler flies by on his cane with helicopter blades and the heroes subdue him. As Batman knocks out the Riddler, Arrow opens the box with the gem. The box contains another lame riddle and Batman says the Riddler not being himself could be another clue. The box hits Arrow in the face with some sort of gas which turns him evil and insane. Batman avoids his arrows and Arrow throws himself at him.
Batman has an antidote but Arrow grapples with him and body slams him, making the Dark Knight drop it. As they struggle, Batman headbutts him and sends him flying back with electric shock gauntlets in his gloves. Before Arrow can get up, Batman grabs the antidote and sprays him in the face with it. Oliver recovers and Batman tells him he has a tracker on Riddler now. The Batwing arrives for them.
The Riddler arrived in front of his buyer and he realizes he can't think properly and it has something to do with the egg. The man says that Nygma didn't think of looking inside the egg, to which he didn't know there was anything inside of it at all. The man is revealed to be Vandal Savage. Riddler asks what is inside the egg and what it's doing to him.
In the Batcave, Batman and Alfred discuss how they couldn't find any information on the egg, but the radiation it emits was effecting both Riddler and Batman. A brain scan shows the effects aren't permanent, and Batman says the radiation could be of alien origin so he wants to contact one of the Green Lanterns. Alfred says they have pinpointed Riddler's location.
The Batcave was revealed to be a virtual reality simulation while Batman was still flying the Batwing. Alfred suggests bringing in the Justice League but Batman says this mention required stealth. As they arrive to the location, Alfred is worried about international diplomacy but Batman is focused on solving the crime. Batman's quest takes him to Gorilla City.
Despite Batman's stealth, he is discovered by gorilla soldiers. Batman and surrenders to them and asks to be taken to their leader. Batman tells King Nnamdi that he is there to find the Riddler, and only wishes to get him and get out without causing incident. The King follows Batman to their hall of thrones where they find the Riddler unconscious with a note. The gorillas wonder how he could have possibly ended up there. The note says to get the egg to the Hall of Justice Lab immediately and is signed for a K, for Kal-El, but Batman can tell this really isn't from Superman.
Batman has his computer scan the note and suddenly he is warped away. He calls out for Alfred but finds himself surrounded by Thanagarians as he finds himself on planet Thanagar!
My Opinions-
This is a wild ride as this story is starting to take Batman all across the DC universe, from Gorilla City to planet Thanagar. The appearance of Vandal Savage adds more mystery to all this as well as to the contents of the egg that is effecting people's minds.
The beginning was a lot of fun though as Batman and Arrow traded quips here and there, like the old days of comics before everything got super serious and gritty. I especially like the part where Arrow asks if Riddler custom made his cards, to which Batman replies that they are hardly ones to talk since both of them use custom made gear. I also liked the implication that there was some joke Batman (or Aquaman) made that offended the king of Gorilla City and both heroes blame each other.
But wow, virtual reality Batcave and everything. Batman just keeps getting closer and closer to becoming Iron Man isn't he? I mean most of the time his technology would consist of fancy gear for his utility belt and his vehicles but he's getting deeper and deeper into the realm of superscience.
I feel bad for the Riddler, all he does is get up, get knocked out, try to make a break for it, get knocked out again, etc. Assuming Batman really did get warped over to another planet and this isn't another simulation, I guess Riddler's trail ends at Gorilla City but I guess we'll have to see. I feel bad for whenever the Riddler wakes up surrounded by angry telepathic gorillas though.

Ok... so either Batman's gloves/gauntlets are so strong her can literally punch the arrows to bits, or his overall outfit is strong enough to withstand arrows. Geez Batman. |

I love the clean and smooth art style but vandal Savage just looks weird. Or maybe I'm more used to his cartoon designs |
