Batman Dark Patterns # 1

By Mark Rodriguez With this mini series we go back to a more basic Batman before he had all his fancy tech and years of crime fighting experience as he solves several incredible mysteries. There were previews for this one in several DC comics last month. I guess they did their job since I decided to pick it up. The story opens with Batman narrates that three kids were apprehended playing chicken with the train tracks in Central Station. The oldest was twelve, and they'll be most likely to try it again the following night. Two dozen kids have died playing this game since the station was built. Elsewhere, six dogs were re-released onto the streets of the Bowery. They were retrieved from the pound by locals claiming they were their pets. The dogs are vicious and run wild, killing cats and attacking people. The Bowery has always had problems with wild dogs. A building burns on Cherry Hill, which could be insurance fraud or some kids causing trouble. As Batman suits up, he states that t...

West Coast Avengers (2024 run) # 2

By Mark Rodriguez Tony and Rhodey decided to form a new West Coast Avengers team, this time with the idea of reforming former villains. Of the new recruits, Ultron is having a tough time convincing the world he's a good guy now, while Blue Bolt is just too reckless. Tony seeks out Firestorm, not knowing she has her own baggage. Elsewhere, another version of Ultron is forming his own cult, turning people into cyborgs. The story opens west of Los Angeles as some bad guys fly a helicopter carrying a huge storage unit. Spider- Woman narrates that those guys are moving enough weapons to start a war. The bad guys notice that two things are following them. Spider-Woman has attached herself to the bottom of the storage unit for the last hour. She tells the Avengers that it was them following her that alerted the helicopter, not her. Iron Man he was worried. Spider-Woman boards the chopper and fight with the men, as she asks them who the weapons are for. She approaches the pilots and aims h...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Black White & Green # 4

By Mark Rodriguez The Black, White and Green series has been an anthology mini-series as each issue has 4 stories all drawn by different artists and all taking place within the several TMNT continuities. The extra kicker is that all the stories are in black and white, with the only additional color being green. This is the fourth and final book in the series, so let's see what stories awaits us. "Legends" opens with the Turtles still being children as Splinter sends them to bed. The Turtles want a bedtime story and Splinter offers to read them the story of the four Kappa. Splinter says there was once a beautiful forest that had four Kappa named Kenji, Ko, Kei and Kento that lived in harmony with the rest of the wildlife. They were beloved for their wisdom, kindness and strength. The forest thrived under their watchful eyes. Things were fine until one day a ferocious wind hit the forest. This was the wind of Kamaitachi, an evil force that brings destruction and devastatio...

Comic Book Stash 12/27/2024

By Mark Rodriguez We usually hit Third Eye Comics or any other comic store in the area once or twice a month. In doing so sometimes we miss a 'busy week' and so when we do finally hit the store we have quite a pile waiting for us. So I decided to show off what comics we got.  Now keep in mind even though we bought these comics it doesn't mean we will be reviewing them all. Even the ones we do review, there aren't any guarantees that we'll cover them right away. As you've seen on the blog, there are times I just get in the mood to cover several issues of the same series back to back, or I might also go back and cover something older like the Tomb Raider comics. We're always epic, random and unpredictable overall.    West Coast Avengers # 2- Can't wait to see what happens next as Firestar joins the team, bringing her personal baggage with her. West Coast Avengers # 2 Review Psylocke# 2 - Another one I can't wait to check out. Kwannon continues to deal...

Dragonball Super manga Volume 6 (Chapter 29)

By Mark Rodriguez Goku has decided to visit Zeno Sama to remind him of the Universal Tournament that was brought up at the end of the Universe 6 VS Universe 7 Tournament. The Zenos have agreed and things were put into motion. Before the actual tournament can begin, the Zeno from Trunks' future timeline wants to see a demonstration since he didn't see the previous tournament. The Gods of Destruction themselves will have to put on a display of their powers in a battle royale, which includes Beerus and Champa. While the fight is impressive so far, the Grand Priest says the battle just begun. Chapter 29- Toppo! Universe 11 God of Destruction Candidate!! The chapter opens as the God of Destruction from Universe 11, Belmod extends his arms, trapping everyone else in energy orbs. With Beerus and the others unable to move, Belmod unleashes playing cards from between his fingers. He tosses them at the rest of the combatants, forcing them to endure his attack. Of all the gods, Liquiir, ...

Black Widow & Hawkeye # 2

By Mark Rodriguez Hawkeye is on the run since everybody thinks he killed the Russian Minister. After going from country to country, Black Widow, now with a symbiote, finally found him to offer some help. Hawkeye reveals that he wasn't framed, he actually did kill the Russian Minister. "Broken Arrow Part Two" opens with Madripoor a week ago, as Hawkeye is undercover. He tries to invite himself to a card game but is told it's a private game. Clint tells one of the players, Mister Koller, that he's been looking forward to talking to him about his K.R.V tech and weapon supply deals. The others tell Clint it's time for him to leave and prepare to drag him out, but Koller stops them. Koller says that Clint is just young and naive. He figures he's someone that spent his last penny on trying to meet him and pitch some new product idea for him to fund.  Koller asks Hawkeye's name, and he uses the alias 'Harry Barnes'. Koller suggests they play a round...
